Where Is The Share Button On Ps4

Don't Miss

Getting Your Video On Your Computer

Using the SHARE button | Inside PS4 | #4ThePlayers

If you dont want to share your video online just yet, you can also transfer the video from your PS4 to an external hard drive or flash drive, then upload it to a computer.

First, plug your drive into one of the USB ports on the front of your PlayStation and navigate to the Capture Gallery. Select the video you want to transfer, then push the Options button. Using the menu that appears on the right side of the screen, select Copy to USB Storage Device.

Youll be taken back to the grid view of the Capture Gallery. You can select which items you want to copy to your USB drive by pressing X. The images and videos you select will be marked with a large check in a tick box above each item. Once youve selected everything you want to transfer, move to the right-side menu and select Copy. Hit OK on the next screen and everything youve selected will be transferred to your external drive.

Once you successfully transfer your videos to the external drive, take the USB drive out of your PS4. You can swap your video recording files to your computer simply by plugging your external drive into the USB port. Youll see a folder named PS4 pop up in your My Computer folder if youre using a Windows device. And if youre using a Mac, youll see it in Finder.

Once youre done with all of these steps, youll have the opportunity to share the recordings with others and edit them if necessary. Because they are in a simple .mp4 file format, you can edit them using standard video editing software.

Recording Gameplay And Taking Screenshots With The Dualsense

When using the Create button to record previous gameplay, players can save gameplay clips of varying durations from up to the last hour of play at 60 frames-per-second and 1080p. Players can save in increments of 15 seconds, 30 seconds, and more.

Players can select file types for both images and videos. For images, players can designate either JPG or PNG file types while players can designate WebM or MP4 file types for gameplay clips.

The Create button also allows players to sift through and edit their library of video clips and screenshots from their originally selected formats. This library also includes images from Trophy moments, which was an accessible feature on the PS4 as well.

Similar to the functionality of the PS4’s Share button, players can also stream using the Create button’s UI, where players can select the option to broadcast gameplay. This applies to PS5’s entire game library, some of which finally have a release window.

The PlayStation 5 launches on Nov. 12, 2020, and includes one DualSense controller.

Anything Share Can Do Create Can Do Better

As a bare minimum, it seems safe to assume that the Create button will carry over the basic functionality of the Share button.

This means youll be using the Create button to take screenshots and capture gameplay footage on PS5.

We also wouldnt be surprised to see the Create button allowing players to stream their gameplay footage live for their followers to view, making the PS5 a super easy platform for aspiring streamers to adopt.

This will affect the time skipped with every Directional Pad hit, which is set to default intervals of 10 seconds.

What Is The Ps4 White Light Of Death

Like every other device and gaming component which has a way to indicate that their death is close around the corner, PS4 has its love language for this nuisance, which is the technical term we call The White Light of Death.

Normally, a solid white light on your console generally indicates that your PS4 is working just fine and is in power-on mode. But, if you ever catch the solid line blinking much like the headlights, it is usually a sign of trouble for your console. If this issue is not resolved even if you restart your console, it is a sign that there is a system error. This error happens when there is damage done to the HDMI portal or the IC chip and a lack of any connection with the console.

How A Humble Button On The Controller Has Influenced Gaming Culture At Large And All Game Consoles Going Forward

Icant say I would have stuck with Ghost of Tsushima a game I ended up liking a lot despite its numerous shortcomings if I hadnt been so completely won over by its photo mode. The mode, which lets you meticulously frame and filter your photos, changing the time, weather, and the expression on protagonist Jins face, is brilliant. You can turn the games moments of levity, poignancy, and terror into singular pieces of art, or even create moments that didnt really happen.

Its also something I probably wouldnt have bothered with at all if it wasnt so easy to share PS4 screenshots on Twitter, and my feed hadnt been full of other peoples efforts. It was something I wanted to be a part of, and I ended up getting sucked in by the rest of the game, too.

As the PS4s time as Sonys primary console comes to an end, Ive been thinking about the systems legacy. It had many more important exclusives than the Xbox One, as well as an interface and a controller that I preferred. Third-party games tended to perform better on it, too, and I had an easier time finding friends to play Destiny and Overwatch with. It is, as far as Im concerned, a great system. But I dont think any element introduced by the PS4, be it a gameplay mechanic, interface option, or anything else, was more important and has proved more essential for systems going forward than the DualShock 4’s share button.

Save The Last 15 Minutes Of Video

When something great happens in a game and you want to record it, but you didnt previously hit the Share button to start a video, you arent out of luck. Your PS4 is always recording video, it just doesnt save that video unless you tell it to. The last 15 minutes of your gameplay session is always saved in the PS4s video cache. So if you just got through a tough boss fight or pulled off a sweet headshot, you can still save the video from the cache.

Heres the thing: If you want to save the last 15 minutes of your gameplay, do not double-press the Share button! Thatll start a new video recording from the moment you push the button onward. Starting a new recording will delete the cached video.

To save the last 15 minutes of gameplay footage, simply press the Share button once to access the Share menu. From there, select Save Video Clip, or hit the Square button. That will save the video to the Capture Gallery, where you can mess with it at your leisure or share it. You can also use the Share menu to immediately share the video clip on social media, which will also save it to the Capture Gallery but will take you to the social media interface next.

It Was Pitched With A Powerpoint And Everything

How To Use The Share Button On The PS4

One of the big new features for the latest iteration of the DualShock controller is its Share button. It will allow users to, for instance, broadcast footage of the game theyre playing with minimal effort and represents a huge focus for the PlayStation 4, according to Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.

Chatting with Edge, Yoshida gave background information about who, exactly, brainstormed the concept. I think it was Nathan Gary in Santa Monica Studios who suggested it: how about adding a dedicated button on the controller so that everybody can just press that button to share? He was helping out the external development, heavily involved in helping the development of Journey and Unfinished Swan at Santa Monica Studios.

So Nathan put together a PowerPoint and pitched in this Share button idea. And we all went, Thats a brilliant idea! So it was a pretty quick decision after he suggested it and Im sure hes pretty proud of his contribution, continued Yoshida. That was after many months of discussion of how people should be using the PS4 system and sharing was one of the central experiences we wanted to include in the systems development.

    Accessing Your Saved Ps4 Screenshots

Your PS4 saves all your screenshots in a single app, and that makes it easier to view them all at once.

You can open the screenshots gallery as follows on your console:

  • Go to the main screen on your PS4 and select Library.
  • Select Capture Gallery on the following screen.
  • Select Start and then choose All.
  • Youll see all the screenshots that youve ever captured on your PS4.
  • Disable The Share Button

On the stock t300 wheel, I seem to hit the share button a lot by accident. If I could remap it, I would… So instead is there a way to disable the share button, either in the game or for the entire console?I found this old article suggesting that developers could turn it off for portions of the game to prevent spoilers etc… maybe it could be added as a game option?

You can switch it so that a single press takes a screen shot instead of capturing a video. This eliminates the menu popping up booting you from your game.Hit the share button, in the share menu, press options, go to share settings. Hit “Share button control type” and select easy screen shot. This reverses the screen shot and video presses. So press and hold for vid and tap for SS. That way if you hit it accidentally, it just takes a SS and a tiny thing pops up in the upper left corner, but doesn’t open the share menu.

    Adjust Your Video Settings

First, hold down the button on your PlayStation 4 controller to open up the Share menu . From here, youll be able to change a bunch of different settings for how you share content you create on your PS4, including video. Youll need to use these settings later to upload your video, but for now, you want to prep the PS4 to record the exact length of your clips. To do this, go to the Set Video Length menu.

Here, you can determine how long the PlayStation 4 will record when you press the share button. The PS4 can automatically record for as long as an hour or as short as 30 seconds, but the default time is 15 minutes.
