Pg 5 Playstation 5 Sneakers: Release Date Price Pre

NBA star Paul George is back with yet another pair of sneakers, created in partnership with Nike and Sony.

The PG 5 are designed in collaboration with PS5 designer Yujin Morisawa and are heavily inspired by the PS5 look, particularly colours and textures.

According to Sony, “the PlayStations signature circle, square, cross, and triangle shapes are woven into the materials like a DualSense controller.”

Asides from these small details, there’s also a well-known PlayStation logo on the tongue of the right shoe and inside the right shoe, near the heel area.

On the other hand, the left shoe’s tongue and heel area feature Paul Georges PG logo.

“As many of you, Ive been a die-hard PlayStation fan all my life, so its an honour to introduce my newest creative project with my favourite brands: the PG 5 PlayStation 5 colourway,” said LA Clippers’s star.

And according to The Sole Supplier “demand for the new Nike PG5 PlayStation 5 Colorway release has spiked by an incredible 8,900%, for context the PlayStation 5 saw a 307.89% increase in demand pre-release.”

If you are among those fans how are excited to wear these new shoes and can’t wait to buy them, here are all the details you need to know.

Nike Puts The Playstation 5 On Your Feet With Its ‘pg5’ Sneakers

The brand has once again teamed up with Sony to design a signature basketball shoe for NBA and Clippers star Paul George.

Before the PlayStation 5 had even been revealed to the public, a cutout piece of the consoleâs DualSense controller was shipped to Nikeâs Oregon headquarters from Japan.

The reason? Sony and Nike were once again collaborating to create a PlayStation-themed signature basketball sneaker for NBA and Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George â this time with a design centered around the PS5, which Sony has sold nearly 8 million units of since it launched in November of 2020. Aptly enough, the new âPG5â marks the 5th edition of Georgeâs Nike shoe, a total coincidence that made the naming scheme work out in everyoneâs favor. It wasnât planned for both products to come out around the same time sometimes the stars simply align: PS5, PG5.

Here’s How To Get Paul George’s Nike Pg

Here we go again! Nike is about to drop their second pair of PlayStation-themed sneakers from Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George. The first collaboration came back in February with the Nike PG-2 PlayStataion Colorway. It sold out almost immediately at launch and now commands premium prices via sites like Stadium Goods, StockX, eBay, and Flight Club. The same fate awaits the new Nike PG 2.5 x PlayStation. However, if you want to try your luck at getting the sneakers for the standard $110, read on.

The Nike PG 2.5 x PlayStation is clearly inspired by the original console with a precise grey color and classic logo on the tongue. Like the PG-2 PlayStation sneakers before it, the logos on both shoes will light up and pulse blue, though these versions are activated when you press a power button on the inside of the tongue. You can take a closer look at the design in the video below.

Now, here’s the important bit. If you’re feeling lucky, download the Nike SNKRS app for iOS or Android and fire it up tomorrow, December 1st around 10am EST. That’s where they will be sold via a raffle process. A product page for the PG 2.5 x PlayStation colorway exists on the SNKRS website, though it is unlikely that the shoes will be sold directly through it. Never hurts to check though. Beyond that you might want to try the Foot Lockers of the world, but the chance of grabbing a pair there is slim to none.

Here are a few of my favorite elements about this new colorway:

Nikes

Get your hands on Paul Georges second signature shoe with the Nike PG2 Playstation Shoes. The PG2 shoes feature a number of homages to PlayStation, such as the light-up tongue with a PS logo in blue. Additionally, you can turn the lights on or off using a button found inside the sneaker. Youll also experience a pulse when you press it that is similar to the vibration from a DualShock controller. Furthermore, you dont have to charge the batteries since they are self-contained. Similarly, the power should last for over 150 hours. The limited edition PG2 comes with dynamic wings at the forefoot, which improves the fit. Also, the insole features a galaxy-themed graphic that Sony created for Nike. Finally, the lace locks come in blue, red, green and pink, just like the buttons of the PlayStation controllers.

Playstation And Paul George Bring Us Up To Date With The Playstation X Nike Pg5 Ps5

Where to Buy Playstation x Nike PG5 “PS5”

Nike Basketball and Sony have collaborated again on Paul Georges PG line to bring gamers and hoopers alike the Nike PG5 PS5. George, a self-proclaimed die-hard PlayStation fan, tapped the designer Yujin Murisawa, who designed the PS5, to collaborate on the PG5.

Taking design cues from the newest gen console, the white textile mesh upper and black collar brings a sleek look similar to the PS5. The forefoot and heel overlays are printed with the iconic PlayStation buttons as seen on the DualSense controller for the PS5. Blue hits are seen throughout, a blue band between the upper and midsole that takes inspiration from the lighting on the console.

The PG logo can be seen on one tongue as well as the PlayStation logo on the other, which has become somewhat of a staple in this collaboration through the years, as well as mismatched hits of Nike Air and PS5 on the medial and lateral sides respectively. A blue translucent sole, PS5 branded pull tab on the heel, and PG X PS5 hangtag complete this collaboration.

From a performance aspect, the PG5 takes on an updated take from the predecessor, which uses full-length Nike Air cushioning that is directly embedded into the strobel. With the cushioning setup directly stitched to the upper, it removes any unnecessary layers to the midsole which in turn brings a plusher and bounce to the cushioning setup.

Playstation 5 Nike Sneakers Arriving This May

If you can’t get your hands on a PS5 console, you can at least get your feet into PS5-themed sneakers.

If you’ve ever wanted to take a stand when it comes to console loyalty, Nike might have the appropriate footwear if you’re a PlayStation fan. According to GameSpot sister site CNET, Paul George of the LA Clippers has teamed up with Nike and PlayStation on a line of PG 5 sneakers that feature a blue and white design, complete with various PS5 logos.

Sony officially revealed the sneakers in a new PS Blog post, and as an added touch of authenticity, PlayStation 5 console designer Yujin Morisawa also worked with Nike and George to ensure that the shoes faithfully reflected the look and style of Sony’s next-gen console. According to George, the sneakers feature PG and PlayStation logos on the tongues of the shoes, PS5 references on the sock liner, and outsoles, and PlayStation’s quartet of shapes on each shoe in the same pattern as on the DualSense wireless controller.

Priced at $120, the sneakers will be available from May 14 on the Nike shop. This isn’t the first time that George, Nike, and Sony have collaborated, as back in 2018 the trio worked on shoes that featured PlayStation’s iconic shapes and other signature symbols that actually lit up and pulsated thanks to the built-in LEDs.

Much like the PS5, sneakers are also regularly snapped up as soon as they go on sale and the market has been plagued by accusations of buyers using bot programs to buy all available stock.

The Nike PG 5 PlayStation 5 special edition sneakers look class

It’s fair to say that the PS5 has been the most in-demand product on Earth over the past six months, and with PS5 restock issues continuing, there are still millions of gamers unable to pick up a PlayStation 5 console.

It’s not all doom and gloom for PS5 fans, though, as Nike has just unveiled its latest sneaker collaboration and, well, it’s a doozy.

That’s because Nike has collaborated with Paul George of the LA Clippers basketball team and PlayStation itself to create the PG 5 PlayStation 5 colorway sneakers. You can take a look at the PG 5 from every angle in the video below:

The attention to detail on the PG 5 sneakers is next level, with Nike and PlayStation designers, including Yujin Morisawa the artist behind the PS5 consoles design worked closely together to bring the spirit of Paul George’s game on court and the look of PS5 to life.

The devil is always in the detail with great sneakers, and in my opinion the PG 5 are no exception. The tongues of the shoe, for example, have PG and PlayStation 5 logos on them, while the colors of the shoe are super reminiscent of the industrial design and colorway of the PS5 console itself.

The PS 5 PlayStation 5 colorway sneakers drop in select regions starting on May 14, 2021, with more information available in each country via the Nike SNKRS app as well as the official Nike website.
