Tips For Ordering A Ps5 This Holiday Season
As we head into the holiday season of 2021, the chip shortages and scalpers continue to make it very, very difficult to buy a PS5. Its still impossible to walk into a store and buy one like any other console.
While theres no sure-fire way to guarantee one, we have some tips here for those keeping an eye out:
- On November 2nd, it was reported that Sony utilized four Boeing planes to transport PS5 holiday stock to the UK. Its thought that these are units set aside to provide stock for holiday shoppers in the region, so keep an eye out for when these go on sale!
- If you have an email and a PSN ID , then we highly encourage you to register for the chance to order a PS5 directly from Sony. This doesnt guarantee one, but for what its worth, this method is how I was able to secure my own, and is very scalper-proof.

Playstation 5 Price: Cheaper Digital Edition
Last year’s PlayStation live event revealed not one but two PS5s the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition and that strategy could well prove crucial for the next console generation: Sony can keep at least one model more affordable while still offering a more fully-featured PS5.
Unlike the approach taken by Microsoft with the Xbox Series X and Series S, the full-fat, disc-playing PlayStation 5 and the more affordable, disc-less PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will have performance parity, with the optical drive the only difference between the two.
We predicted that the PS5 Digital Edition would dip below the magic £400 barrier, while the version with the disc drive might be more like £499 , and Sony has actually trumped our expectations in the UK at least.
More recently, the PS5 has shed some weight. The updated version features a lighter heatsink. The 300g lighter PS5 is on sale now in the UK, US and Australia. If you want to check which one you have, the original PS5 serial model numbers are: CF1016A and CFI-1015B . The new PS5 numbers are: CFI-1116A and CFI-1100B .

John Lewis & Partners
John Lewis & Partners last had a PS5 drop at 7am on 3 November. As usual with the retailer, it didnt last very long, but it does always seem to drop at 7am like clockwork.
The retailer only appears to get a couple of thousand consoles or less each time new stock comes in, so were not expecting anything big the next time theres a drop. When it happens, we recommend checking out via the app people have seen more success through this method.

If thats important to you, the Charging Station costs $30. And if thats too rich, you can be sure Amazon will be filled with dozens of cheaper third-party options that do the exact same thing soon.

Where To Preorder The Playstation 5
Apart from the usual suspects below, we’ll note that Sony itself is expected to sell the console through its PlayStation Direct store, though it’s not available as of this writing, and the initial wave of preorders may be limited to those who were selected by the company as part of the preorder registration program it announced last month. Those are expected to begin on Friday.

- Godfall, a fantasy-themed action-RPG from Borderlands publisher Gearbox, is also confirmed to arrive alongside the PS5 on November 12 and will cost $70. It will be available on PC as well.
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, an upgraded version of last year’s hack-and-slasher, will be available on day one as well, according to publisher Capcom. It’ll cost $40 but will only be available digitally to start.
Beyond these titles, Sony says that Astro’s Playroom, a 3D platformer and follow-up to Ars-approved PlayStation VR title Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, will come pre-installed on the new console.
Xbox Series X Vs Playstation : Which Is Better
Torn between the new Xbox Series X and Sonys new Playstation 5? Heres how the two consoles compare based on what we know right now:
Gaming power: The Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 should perform roughly similarly in most games. Both consoles are moving to fast solid-state storage which will be a first for gaming consoles, dramatically limiting the need for loading screens and clever level design.
Both consoles feature processors and graphics cards that far outstrip their predecessors, though the exact difference between them is still unknown. Microsoft claims the Series X will offer 12 teraflops of graphics processing power, about twice what the current Xbox One X can do.
Whats a teraflop? Essentially, its a rough way to gauge the power of a gaming graphics card. In terms of comparing Sony to Microsoft, teraflops may or may not make much of a difference. The underlying tech of both consoles is actually quite similar, so chances are the differences in gaming performance will come down to how well its internal studios and third-party developers adapt to the new hardware.
Storage: Both new consoles will offer fast solid-state drives by default, as well as optical disc drives for purchasing games that you cant or dont want to download directly. Since newer games may be well over 100GB, it remains to be seen how well each console handles the logistics of installing games.

Sony India Struggles To Meet Ps5 Demand
Every single time, online retailers have failed to deal with the demand load, leaving fans disappointed. Disappointingly, Croma, Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital and others are known to cancel PlayStation 5 pre-orders over the challenges posed by teh massive demand that Sony cannot keep up with.
Meanwhile, Sony Center website ShopAtSC will start to deliver the allocated stocks around 12th January 2022 and onwards. However, they have asked customers to be ready for a delay in their delivery services due to regulations imposed by lockdown/ curfew at various locations.
Other official PS5 online retailers like Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, GameLoot, Games The Shop, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales haven’t declared the expected shipping dates. But buyers can expect them to be in line with Sony Center’s expected date or they might deliver earlier than January 12. Earlier during June, July, August, and October PlayStation 5 restocks, several customers shared that their PS5 pre-orders were shipped prior to the announced shipping date.

Should You Buy Ps5 Or Ps5 Digital Edition
You can buy one of two version of the PS5 today – the standard disk version, or the Digital Edition. The former allows you to play your physical PS4 and PS5 games, however you can still access your downloaded PS4 titles on the Digital Edition as well.
The cheaper £359 PS5 Digital Edition doesn’t have a disk drive, but still runs the same specs as the full fat console. That means you can buy PS5 for less today and you’ll still be running the latest tech from Sony.
However, there’s only 825GB in this SSD and that’s going to fill up quickly, provided you don’t grab an external HDD for your PS4 games. If you’ve got a substantial physical collection already then it might be worth upgrading to the main console.
That said, it’s difficult to buy PS5 either way right now, with launch seeing an incredibly limited number of consoles hitting the shelves. While we wouldn’t necessarily advise settling for the console you can get , if you’re set on buying PS5 today you might have to take what you find.

Buy Your Ps5 Directly From Playstation
Cut out the middleman and go directly to the supplier. PlayStation is distributing a limited amount of consoles directly to customers based in the U.S. who register on their website.
All you need to do is sign in to PlayStations website using your PlayStation Network ID. If you dont already have an account, you can create one. But, it appears that the company is favoring requests from anyone who already has an account with the company. On their website, PlayStation says theyll determine who gets a console based on previous interest and PlayStation activities. The Post asked the company for further clarification but didnt receive a response.
If youre one of the lucky winners, PlayStation will email you with instructions for purchasing the console. So, youll want to make sure the email attached to your PlayStation Network account isnt some defunct address you created in middle school. The offer from PlayStation will come with an expiration date, meaning theyll give your console to someone else if you dont act in time.
Once you do get a theoretical ticket to purchase a PS5, youll be able to select one console, a certain number of controllers , one media remote and one wireless headset.
