How Much Will The Playstation 5’s Dualsense Controller Cost
So the question is, will these new features affect the pricing of the DualSense controller? It’s difficult to give a direct answer, especially since the price of the PlayStation 5 itself, which will also introduce many improvements over the PS4, is still unknown. However, many analysts predict that the PS5 will be slightly more expensive than the PS4, and it is likely that the DualSense controller will be following suit. With all these new innovations included, it is expected that the DualSense controller would range somewhere between $75 to $80, which is slightly more expensive than the DualShock 4.
Another possible pricing point for the DualSense controller is somewhere in the range of $60-$65, which is on par of the current retail price of the DualShock 4 controllers. Of course, there are many factors that may jack up the price of the DualSense, especially if Sony would offer it in different colors and designs similar to the DualShock 4. However, it is expected that $60 will be the minimum price of the controller, and anything beyond $80 is too much. It is also worth mentioning that console purchases will come with one, as is typically the case, but those looking to check out co-op next gen may want to factor in a second controller as well.

If you are playing a PS4 game on the PS5, you can hook up a PS4 controller to use with it.
But you cannot use a PS4 controller with a PS5 game.

Dualsense Edge: Design And Features
If you look at the DualSense Edge from the front, it really doesn’t look very different from a normal DualSense, although it has a black touchpad instead of a white one like the normal model.
It’s clear that that controller will feel very similar in the hand, then, which is a good thing given the excellent ergonomics of the standard DualSense.
There are two hints about a major difference, though, when you look under each thumbstick, where you can see a small toggle. This is a level to let you remove each thumbstick unit entirely from the controller, a huge change when it comes to repairability.
Given that stick drift has blighted the DualSense , this means you’ll be able to buy just a replacement stick unit from PlayStation to replace it, without needing an expert to take apart your controller.
That’s nice for longevity, but when it comes to gameplay the really big changes are on the back of the controller.
Firstly, and most obviously, there are two extra buttons on the back there, by default the shape of small lozenge paddles, although you can swap them out for lever-shaped versions if you prefer. These will be remappable, as will every button on the controller, and let you get a better control scheme for games where you want quick access to certain buttons.
You can swap between different button profiles on the fly, too, letting you easily set different modes for different games.

Ps5 Controller: How Long Does Its Battery Last
The DualSense controller has a longer battery life than the PS4 pad does, but it depends what you’re playing. A game like Astro’s Playroom, which uses lots of features, will last about five to six hours, but it’s possible to get more than this in less demanding games. It also has a more up to date charger cable you’ll charge the PS5 controller with a USB Type-C connector.

YouTubers have shared fixes for DualSense stick drift by opening up their controllers and replacing the analog sticks, but what if you could do that without needing to grab any tools? That would be pretty neat. If a PS5 Pro Controller does come with removable analog sticks, though, itd more likely be for adjusting its height like on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller.
The other features like trigger stops, rear paddles, and removable grips are already found on Scufs Reflex controller which currently fills the role for a better-designed PS5 controller so it makes sense that Sony is thinking of including these features.
Fix : Lift And Rotate Your Thumbsticks
If you frequently play games that require you to use and click your thumbstick in a specific direction for prolonged periods, you might notice that your thumbstick starts to drift in that direction.
One way to fix this is gently lifting your thumbstick out of its housing and generously rotating it a few times before putting it back in. This will help re-center the mechanism inside the thumbstick and hopefully fix your PS5 controller drift.

The DualSense PS5 controller price is $69.99 / £59.99 / AU$109 for the White or Midnight Black colors. The Cosmic Red, Nova Pink and Starlight Blue versions are a little more expensive at $74.99 / £64.99.
This year’s Days of Play sale introduced the biggest discounts yet of up to 20% off all DualSense controllers – and that includes the new DualSense controller colors, too. That was the first-ever price cut so far in the US and the biggest discounts yet of up to £15 in the UK.
They were back over but now you’ll likely have to wait until Black Friday for any similar PS5 controller deals.
Fix : Adjust The Input Threshold On Your Dualsense Controller
The input threshold is essentially the area where the thumbstick doesn’t register any movement. So, if you are experiencing only light drift, you may be able to eradicate it entirely. This fix will only work for certain games, though.
If you head into the controller settings on some games, you will notice an option to change the size of the controller’s input threshold. You can see an example of these settings from Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
So, if you are experiencing slight DualSense drift to the right on the right thumbstick, you can increase the deadzone size/input threshold on that stick. This means that the controller won’t register movement until you push the stick out of its threshold.
Sadly, this is not an option at the system level, which is surprising as this would be a relatively easy fix for Sony. It could include this in a controller and console update so you can change the deadzone from the main controller menu. This might keep people happier for longer and would provide a temporary solution, at the very least.

Ps5 Dualsense Edge Controller: Who Is It For
You might balk at the idea of paying over $100 for a controller, but PlayStation fans have been crying out for an official pro controller since the PS4 days. If youre someone who religiously plays Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Fortnite, or any competitive online games, something like the DualSense Edge can give you an advantage against those using a regular pad.
The back buttons, for example, mean you dont have to take your thumbs off the analog sticks during a firefight, and the customizable sticks and sensitivity options let you fine-tune each element to suit your playstyle. Its bound to be an appealing purchase to those willing to pay and a lot more exciting than the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment that Sony sold towards the end of the last generation for $30.
The DualSense Edge could also appeal to those who have previously suffered from analog stick drift. Replaceable analog stick modules means the controller can combat DualSenses biggest durable concern, making the high price tag more of an investment over time.

Sony has yet to announce a release date for the PS5 DualSense Edge controller. As part of a PlayStation Blog post, the company said it would announce more about the controller in the months ahead. It would definitely be smart to get this controller out by the holiday season of 2022, but its unclear if that will happen.

Dualsense Edges Adoption Rate
What would work best for Sony’s profit margins, though, wouldn’t be great for the general public. If the DualSense Edge is going to be adopted by PlayStation owners, and therefore become successful, its creator is going to have to be careful working out an asking price. For most people, whatever price it ultimately lands on will make or break their desire to buy one. As a piece of optional hardware, the PS5s brand-new controller wont define the overall health of Sonys ecosystem. Still, that doesn’t mean the publisher will want it to be a blot on its record because of an expensive price tag.
Theres also two moral elements to the DualSense Edges price that Sony would do well to keep in mind. Based on how PlayStation fans are going to have it and a second generation PS VR headset marketed to them in the coming months, asking that same audience to pay through the nose for both wouldnt be a great look. The original DualSense was plagued with drift issues, so the fact that the Edges sticks will reportedly be replaceable for a price, will also likely have spooked more than a few Gamescom viewers. An affordable base price tag would subsequently be a considerable PR win.

God Of War: Ragnarok Ps5 Controller Pre
Pre-orders for the God of War PS5 controller start from 27th September and will launch on the same day as the game’s release date, 9th November 2022. No pre-orders are live at the moment, but we’ll update this page when links start to appear.
As for which third party retailers will be stocking the God of War-themed controller, we’re not yet sure! It will almost certainly be available to pre-order from PlayStation Direct. In the UK, it could also be sold by , and Game. In the US, there’s a chance that , GameStop, Best Buy and possibly Walmart and Target will issue pre-orders.
If you’re unable to secure a pre-order, we’re hopeful that Sony will drop another load of stock on launch day, but there are no guarantees.
Dualsense Edge Vs Scuf Reflex
The biggest competitor on the market right now for the DualSense Edge is the Scuf Reflex, which we’ve already fully tested and reviewed.
It’s also a professional-grade option, and while we haven’t gone hands-on with the Edge yet, just from a design standpoint there are some differences to summarize.
For one, Scuf lets you hugely customise the look of your controller, as you can see from our colourful version. At present, Sony hasn’t said it’ll offer anything like this.
Another difference is that Scuf’s controller has four back buttons, rather than two, for you to remap. However, you can’t remap every button on the controller – only these back buttons.
The PS5 is finally here – these are the games you simply need to pick up for it.
Scuf does offer clicky zero-travel triggers for the Reflex, but they’re an added extra and you can’t have both normal and clicky triggers to toggle between, making it a one-time choice between the two. That’s a huge advantage for the DualSense Edge, in our books.
We’ll be able to give a fuller sense of whether the Edge comes out on top overall once we’ve tested it but, for now, that’s an overview of some major differences between the controllers.
