Yes, it does. The PS5 can play your 4k blu-rays for that cinematic experience. Originally this wasnt confirmed, and it was thought the console would just have an optical disc drive, but dont worry its coming! In fact, the PS5 event revealed that there will be two options at launch: one PS5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and another Digital Edition without a disc drive.
In that battle against the new Xbox, it makes sense to offer both- the Xbox Series X will have a 4k disc drive too, while the Xbox Series S will be digital-only.
The PlayStation 5 will also support 8k videos- although most of us will need to wait for our TVs to catch up before we benefit from it.

PS5 is upon us, although most stores have extremely limited stock, so act fast at these retailers.
We’re well into September and buying a PS5 in Australia is still super hard. It’s probably not going to get better this month, but the best you can do is keep trying: While stock allocations are rare they do happen, so you’ll need to stay vigilant, as stock is likely to remain low for the rest of 2021. When stock does appear, it tends not to last long, though we have our fingers crossed there will be a bit of a megadrop in the lead up to Christmas.
So yeah, PS5 stock replenishment is a fairly scattershot affair in Australia. Some retailers have been known to provide a few days advance notice, such as what Big W did in February , but more often than not they just appear. If there’s a local bricks-and-mortar store near you, it might be worth joining their waiting list, if they have one.
But the sad reality is that you’ll probably need to check the PS5 pages on each retailer’s site manually if you want a console right now: all relevant retailers are listed below. We’ll also update the top of this page occasionally when we get advance warning of a drop.

PlayStation 5 is back in India. On Monday at 12pm noon, the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition will go up for sale again in India that marks the first restock for the former, while the latter launches in South Asia over six months on from its global debut. All of Amazon, Flipkart, Games The Shop, Prepaid Gamer Card, Reliance Digital, Sony Center, and Vijay Sales will have the PlayStation 5 back in stock, while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is seemingly exclusive to Sony Center website ShopAtSC. There’s no word on how much stock any of them has, but expect it to be very limited and hence, will run out in a minute or two if you aren’t quick with your fingers.
Of course, the bigger question for many will be whether they can even get the PS5 delivered where they live, given the ongoing restrictions on non-essential items during the ongoing debilitating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. A PS5 pre-order FAQ on ShopAtSC says: We intend to deliver your allocated stocks around 24th May and onwards however please expect a delay in our delivery services which might get impacted due to regulations imposed by lockdown/ curfew in your locations. The product delivery shall depend on your location. You may check your order status by contacting your allocated Sony Center.

How Much Will The Ps5 Pre
Thats the $600 question. Maybe $400, but also maybe $600. Its also unclear how the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will vary in price. Since both are available through the pre-order, that adds more uncertainty to how much you might drop. Its also unclear whether the accessories are included as a bundle, or if youll have to spend more.
Still, considering how much Sony is throwing in, expect a price bump. The doubles of things like a media remote and HD camera could also drive up the price, even though you can only get one console. Theoretically, you can use the remote with another compatible TV in your home, except you probably already have a remote for that. The HD camera seems to rely on a connection to the console, so the need for two is even more questionable.

Torn between the new Xbox Series X and Sonys new Playstation 5? Heres how the two consoles compare based on what we know right now:
Gaming power: The Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 should perform roughly similarly in most games. Both consoles are moving to fast solid-state storage which will be a first for gaming consoles, dramatically limiting the need for loading screens and clever level design.
Both consoles feature processors and graphics cards that far outstrip their predecessors, though the exact difference between them is still unknown. Microsoft claims the Series X will offer 12 teraflops of graphics processing power, about twice what the current Xbox One X can do.
Whats a teraflop? Essentially, its a rough way to gauge the power of a gaming graphics card. In terms of comparing Sony to Microsoft, teraflops may or may not make much of a difference. The underlying tech of both consoles is actually quite similar, so chances are the differences in gaming performance will come down to how well its internal studios and third-party developers adapt to the new hardware.
Storage: Both new consoles will offer fast solid-state drives by default, as well as optical disc drives for purchasing games that you cant or dont want to download directly. Since newer games may be well over 100GB, it remains to be seen how well each console handles the logistics of installing games.

Ps5 Digital Edition Black Release Date
Theres no word yet on the PS5 Digital Edition Blacks release date. Unfortunately for those perhaps waiting for a last-minute black reveal ahead of the PS5s November 12 launch, no such event occurred. The PS5 released worldwide in November 2020, exclusively in white.
As prospective console owners are still struggling to buy a PS5 console now, almost six months later, wed expect Sonys focus for now just to be getting PS5s into their hands, regardless of the colour. This means that a black PS5 is likely at least a year off, if not longer. At the earliest, wed predict a late-2021 release. More realistically, however, it wont be until 2022.
Indeed, with a new PS5 redesign reportedly launching in 2022, this could be the perfect chance for a colour change. However, as DigiTimes reports, this hardware revision is likely just to be internal, rather than focusing on the aesthetic.
There is also the slight chance that Sony could focus its attention on a black version of the PS5 Standard Edition, leaving the Digital Edition only available in white. The emphasis is on the slight chance of this, as the Digital Edition is a highly profitable product for Sony, as it forces players to buy games exclusively through its storefront- a fact that would not change if it launched in black.

In India, the PS5 launch event will go Live on Friday i.e. June 12, 2020, at 1:30 AM IST. Anybody can watch the nPS5 Reveal Event as it is going to be streamed live on the Playstation Youtube Channel as well as Twitch. In other countries the event will be Live on 9 PM BST, 1 PM PT, 4 PM ET, and 10 PM CEST respectively .

However, there are some fantastic third-party PS5 headsets worth considering too. Uncertainty From Analysts Amongst Ps5 Pre
As Reuters reports, a recent interview with Jim Ryan claims that PS5 pre-order sales have surpassed the first 12 weeks of PS4 pre-orders in just 12 hours. More than a million PS4 pre-orders were made by late October 2013 and 5.3 million PS4 consoles had been sold in its first three months. Notably, this was before the console launched in its home country of Japan.
What does that mean for the PS5? In short, PS5 pre-order sales have likely surpassed 1 million units before its worldwide launch. That wouldn’t be surprising, especially considering that and at European retailers have been delayed for many customers.
“The demand as expressed by the level of pre-order has been has been very, very considerable,” Ryan said to Reuters.
These are certainly good numbers, but not all analysts are optimistic about the outcome. Tweaktown reports on some sales predictions, with the lower end of the estimates at 67.3 million units by 2024 and the higher end of estimates at 300 million in the next 56 years. There’s also a somewhat more absurd estimate of 600700 million units highlighted on ResetEra. Sony’s own estimates predict 120170 million PS5 console sales from now until 2025.
Ampere Analysis, in particular, has one of the more relevant predictions it believed that Sony would move 5 million units in 2020 alone.

Sony has finally announced how much the PS5 will cost when it releases later this year. And if you’re looking to save some cash and ditch the world of physical media, then we can also tell you the price of the PS5: Digital Edition. And folks…. PS5 pre-orders start tomorrow on September 17. Oh, my.
We’ve been speculating for a few years now on what the PS5 price might be and as of tonight, we can finally tell you. In the US, the PlayStation 5 price starts at $499.99, and over in the UK you can expect a £449.99 pricetag. The PS5 Digital Edition, which comes without a disc-drive, but is otherwise the same internally, is actually cheaper than we thought at $399.99 in the US and £359.99 in the UK. As for Australia, you’re looking at AU$749.95 for the full PS5 experience and AU$599.95 for the digital model. We were originally anticipating a much smaller price difference between the two PS5 models – so this is excellent!
As for the release date, it will actually be slightly staggered, which we didn’t expect. November 12 in the US, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. November 19 for the rest of the world, which we hope includes the UK!

We’re already seeing retailers start to bundle the PS5 with the most popular titles, including FIFA 21, Marvels Spider-Man Miles Morales, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty. Just don’t expect the first bundles to be cheaper than buying a PS5 and a copy of the game separately demand is so high that retailers are unlikely to offer discounts at this stage.
Beyond games, we’re also seeing the PS5 bundled with other treats and temptations. On the hardware side, there are a a few options to purchase your PS5 with one of the official PS5 accessories such as the DualSense Controller. Sadly the Pulse 3D headset is currently sold out almost everywhere, so there’s no little chance of seeing that in bundle. . On the software side, we may start to see subscriptions to PlayStation Plus. As ever, more details as we get them.
Games aside, the PS5 will act as an entertainment hub. Sony has revealed it will come with Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV, Spotify, Twitch and YouTube from day one. But, as we recently reported, the PS5 appears to lack both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

Who knows! Well, Sony knows, but its offering two conflicting statements on its pre-order page.
Theres the objective answer: PS5 console pre-order reservations will be first come, first serve. And then theres the catch: Our selection is based on previous interests and PlayStation activities.
See, youre not really pre-ordering the console. Youre asking Sony for the privilege to pre-order the console if the powers that be deem your fandom sufficient. So you could be the first person to sign up and still not get that pre-order spot, at least according to Sonys own website.
I cant say Sony is being secretive about this. It says very clearly that this is a pre-order invitation. But that doesnt make it right.
What kind of interests and PlayStation activities merit an invitation? Is it based on direct downloads from Sonys store? Being a PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now member? A completionist with tons of trophies? Sharing screenshots and chatting often? Thats the kind of stuff Sony will get to look at when you submit your humble request for a pre-order invitation and your PlayStation ID. No, really. Thats all it asks for. That all it needs to know.
Oh, and if you dont get selected, they just wont tell you. Youll only get an email if you are picked, which you will get before pre-orders start. About that
