With Great Power Comes Great Performance
Spider-Man PS4 wowed us in 2018 with awesome visuals and Spider-Man: Miles Morales is here in 2020 to do it again. If a game has a Photo Mode, it usually knows how good it looks. Sound design is on point, too, and I approve of Miles choice in music and how the game uses that in side-mission gameplay.
Its wintertime in New York, which makes for a subtly different environment. Its familiar, but different enough. Whats more, the focus on Miles new home in Harlem allows for an exploration of the culture there, making it feel more alive and, ultimately, worth protecting.
The addition of Miles more unique moves makes for some insane visual effects amidst combat, elevating it to become even more satisfying than the first game. The redesign of Peter Parker might be jarring to those coming from Spider-Man PS4, but I quickly forgot about it. Hes here, so deal with it and move on.
Talking About Our Next Generation
The other obvious benefit of the game running on next-generation hardware is just how incredible it looks. You get two graphics options to play the game with on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Digital Edition. The first runs in 30 frames-per-second and offers all the bells and whistles afforded by the console’s GPU. That includes a native 4K resolution, ray tracing , and other visual enhancements.
Alternatively, you can opt to play the game in 60fps, but will have to forego any of the visual improvements, including ray tracing. Resolution is also dropped a little, switching from a stable 4K to something more dynamic which can raise and drop dramatically in busier scenes.
Personally, we much prefer the 30fps mode, purely to see New York City at its finest. And, while we’ve seen ray tracing in action on PC gaming rigs before, it’s use here is simply superb. Reflections in puddles, office block windows, even the more plastic areas of Spidey’s suits make for a much more realistic look. And when night falls, the entire city looks incredible, both from the roof tops and down at street level.
Audio too is improved through a new PS5 ability it is presented with superb 3D spatial channels that sound excellent when played in headphones. Of course, it can’t beat a proper surround sound home theatre setup, but it’s something new and exciting for those who just don’t have that kind of cash.
While Peters Zings Miles Sneakily Makes Zappy Pops
Miles works differently than Peter in a couple of ways. His skill tree is divided into three categories. Base combat skills, which upgrades finisher stacks and venom build-up capabilities venom skills, which unlock different bio-electric attacks that do major damage finally, stealth skills, where Miles utilizes his camouflage abilities allowing him to re-enter stealth mode during battle, expanding on an entire layer of combat that was lacking in the original.
Like the original, a good deal of the games design is spent on Spidey-Suits, all semi-awkward yet awesome in fashion. Some of my favorites were the Into The Spider-Verse suit, the Spider-Man winter attire costume with the winter hat and scarf, and my personal favorite: the Spider-Man cat, where you take along a feline friend as your partner. Each of Miles suits features upgradable mods you can add-on for different specialized perks, making for a slightly more customizable Spider-Man that you can adjust depending on your needs at the moment. Each mod and suit unlock requires activity tokens and technology parts, which you attain via doing missions and stealing tech caches from the underground.

Dont Want: The Sinister Six Reborn
The Sinister Six Reborn is a new group of villains that places Miles Morales uncle Aaron as its leader under the new guise of the Iron Spider. The villainous team also includes Bombshell, Hobgoblin, Sandman, Spot, and Electro.
While theres nothing wrong with this version of the Sinister Six, yet another version of this team setting itself up as Spider-Man’s primary antagonistic force could be in serious danger or retreading old ground. While it may be difficult to avoid a feeling familiarity in Miles story, Insomniac Games need to avoid making the game feel like it’s the same game reskinned.
Is Miles Morales The First Person Of Color To Become Spider
No, although he is the most famous example. Before Miles, Spider-Man 2099 was created by Peter David and Rick Leonardi in 1992. A futuristic re-imagining of Spider-Man, his real identity was that of Miguel O’Hara, a geneticist based in New York and of half-Mexican descent, making him the first Latino character to have the Spider-Man identity.
Besides appearing in numerous comic books, his character has appeared in the Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors TV series, many Spider-Man video games, and was most recently voiced by Oscar Isaac in a post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

No Switching Between Peter And Miles
Peter Parker for many fans of comics will be the Spider-Man they grew up with and there will still be many gamers that arent familiar with the Miles Morales version yet. The expanded storyline featuring Miles version of Spider-Man should be all about making him shine because hes a great character in his own right.
Getting the two characters to team up to take down a dangerous is perfectly fine as their chemistry is great but the new game needs to be consistent in making sure Miles remains the star of the show.
How Old Is Miles Morales
Miles Morales is a 15-year-old teenager when he first adopts the Spider-Man persona. That makes him slightly younger than the Peter Parker we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, and around 8-13 years younger than other versions of Spider-Man we’ve seen within comic books, games, and films over the years.

Can You Play As Miles Morales In Spider
To cut the chase down, YES, the new Spiderman Miles Morales game has made its way to the PS4. While the decision was not entirely welcomed by fans, players wont be able to play the remastered edition of the game on their older PS4 consoles. Spiderman Miles Morales, however, is available for the PS4 console.
How Did Miles Morales Become Part Of The Spiderman Saga
Miles Morales inherited the Spider-Man persona after Peter Parker’s death but it’s a little more complicated than that. Originally, Peter Parker befriended Miles after the sudden death of Morales’s father, police officer, Jefferson Davis. He introduces him to the non-profit F.E.A.S.T shelter so he can work there as a volunteer. At the time, Miles has no idea that Peter is Spider-Man, despite the fact he idolizes the superhero.
Eventually gaining his own spider-like powers, he tells Peter what happened, and the pair bond over their similar abilities.
After Parker’s sudden death, Miles Morales takes over the Spider-Man legacy which is depicted in the comic book, Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4.

Be Greater Be Yourself Or Maybe Just Be Spider
for PS4 was one of the best superhero games of all time. It introduced a pretty accurate open-world Manhattan, had groundbreaking gameplay, and felt like a genuine love letter to the Spider-Man franchise. It was a game that really let us get to know Peter as a nerd, a scientist, a romantic, and of course, an all-around heartfelt superhero. There was really just one loose thread missing from the original game whats gonna happen with Peters protege? The answer was Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Spider-Man: Miles Morales launched on November 12th as a Playstation 5 Exclusive. The is a sequel to the acclaimed , and Ive been dying to review this game since launch. But like many gamers, I was unable to obtain a PS5 until now. Featuring one of the most prominent black superheroes ever created in Miles Morales and boasting astonishing next-generation gameplay, Miles Morales is nothing shy of amazing. A beautiful and fitting sequel designed for the next generation of console gaming.
Lose The Soap Opera Drama
had a great story with excellent visuals and voice acting to back it up. The script could be both funny and emotional at the right times and in this regard, the game nailed its narrative.
However, the bickering between Peter Park and Mary Jane almost became as annoying and tedious as the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films. Whether it was the miscommunications in texts or Mary Janes jealousy of Black Cat, the on-again-off-again soap opera felt out of place.

Brooklyn Visions Academy Suit
First Appearance: Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales
As the game starts, Miles and his mom Rio have moved to Harlem. Before that, they lived in Brooklyn, where Miles attended Brooklyn Visions Academy. Similar to his recent film incarnation, his school required him to wear a uniform, hence the blue suit jacket.
Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider
In his second solo series, Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles encounters the presumed-dead Peter Parker, who cannot explain his reappearance, and who does not intend to return to his former life. Together, the two Spider-Men defeat the Goblin, who is also revealed to be alive, but who is killed during the course of the story. After witnessing Miles courageously battle the Goblin, Peter acknowledges Miles a worthy successor, and decides to retire from superheroics for a life with family and Mary Jane.
Miles’ father Jefferson reappears, revealing to his son that as young men, Jefferson and Aaron worked for a criminal in the organization of Wilson Fisk, though Jefferson was spying for S.H.I.E.L.D. He afterward declined an offer to join S.H.I.E.L.D., and went on to marry Rio and have Miles. He explains he had fled after learning Miles was Spider-Man because it stirred unresolved issues from that time, and tells Miles he no longer blames him for his mother’s death, and regrets abandoning him.
When Miles reveals his secret identity to Katie, the Bishop family is revealed to be sleeper agents for the terrorist group Hydra who then kidnap Miles, his father and Ganke, as part of a plan involving Dr. Doom. Miles and the other prisoners are freed, however, in part with help from Judge , and other superhuman colleagues.

The Game Isnt Without Its Flaws
One thing which I slightly disappointed about was how storage worked. As there was an issue I had in loading my already platinum file from my PS4 game. I had to reload several times, as the PS5 isnt as forward as Xbox in its online capability. The game also has the occasional bug. Moments where audio never plays for side character missions like the Harlem side quests or Bodega missions. There was also a moment mid-battle, while overwhelmed by enemies at all sides on a rooftop, where my game crashed the entire PlayStation. However, all these bugs combined still totaled for less than a handful of times in the entirety of my 25-hour playthrough.
The things I disliked most about Miles were that the prompts are sometimes unhelpful. The train alignment puzzle bore almost no hints in the early game. The snipers in this game are also ridiculously overpowered, and at times impossible to dodge in harder difficulties, and I also really hated the main villain in this one as it felt completely uninspired.
Miles Responsibility As The Web
This is one area where the movie and the game are actually pretty similar. In the movie, the old Spider-Man, voiced by Chris Pine gets murdered by Kingpin, leaving a gaping hole in this dimension for a Spider-Man. Miles Morales soon learns that he must become this dimensions Spider-Man, and he does so out of necessity. Its all just a leap of faith.
In the game, Miles also has to take over as Spider-Man out of necessity, but this time, its because Peter Parker is going on vacation with Mary Jane. So Miles is now in charge, and he grows as a character throughout the game. And he has to learn fast, too, because his villain might just destroy the whole city. And about her

What Shoes Does Miles Morales Wear In Spider
Miles Morales might be a fictional character but thanks to his footwear being inspired by Nike AJ-1 shoes, Nike has developed sneakers specifically inspired by the character. Known as Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Origin Story”, the sneakers are a high-top red and white pair of shoes with reflective textile and glossy accents so that they mimic the animations of the movie.
Fairly exclusive by now, don’t expect to be able to find a pair easily. However, if you do, you can feel like you’re taking a small part of Miles Morales with you wherever you go.
End Of Ultimate Imprint And Merge With Marvel
During the events of the 2015 “Secret Wars” storyline, both the Ultimate Marvel universe and the mainstream Earth-616 universe are destroyed. Miles survives the destruction by infiltrating an escape ship designed by the Cabal. After eight years in stasis, Miles awakens on the planet Battleworld, created from the remains of destroyed alternate Earths. He reunites with Earth-616’s Peter Parker and the other surviving heroes from that former mainstream-Marvel Earth. They battle Doctor Doom, who with his new powers, appointed himself God Emperor of the planet. At the conclusion of the storyline, the Molecule Man, in gratitude for Miles’ earlier compassion, restores Earth-616, with Miles and his family, including his mother, restored to life in the process, among its inhabitants. Aaron is also later revealed to have been restored to life, retaining his knowledge of Miles’s dual identity, and becomes the villainous Iron Spider. Both Miles and Peter share the Spider-Man mantle in the new universe, though the now-16-year-old Miles patrols New York City, while Peter acts globally. Miles also joins the latest team of Avengers in the 2016 series All-New, All-Different Avengers,
In a 2019 story, Jefferson tells Miles he has his mother’s surname because Jefferson’s physically abusive father was “not a good person” and not having his grandfather’s name gave Miles a “clean start.”

Miles Morales Seems Familiar But I Don’t Read Comic Books Where Do I Know Him From
As mentioned, Miles Morales really came into the mainstream eye via the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie. If you don’t keep up with the Spider-Man comic books, this is almost certainly where you’ve seen him before.
He’s the main character in the movie and the animation also goes some way to explaining how there can be numerous different Spider-Man characters across many different alternate universes. It’s the perfect introduction if you don’t know much about Spider-Man but would like to learn more.
Its Pretty Amazing To Be Spider
From its newly incorporated next-gen technology down to its rooted and representative backstory, Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcases some of the best capabilities of the PS5. A short but fun sequel to the groundbreaking Spider-Man for PS4 thats more than worthy as a successor.

Do Ps5 Games Work On Ps4
Unsurprisingly, PS5 games cannot be played natively on PS4 but the ability to play next-gen games on what is now old-gen hardware comes thanks to Share Play. This system allows PS5 users to share their screen or chat with those still playing on PS4. It goes further than just screen sharing, however.

The City That Never Sleeps
During the three-part story expansion, The City That Never Sleeps, Miles was training to become Spider-Man himself, calling Peter frequently for help with training. While Peter was initially unwilling to let Miles jeopardize his life by following in his footsteps, Miles admitted that he accidentally used his powers to show off in basketball. Promising not to do it again as long as Peter trains him, Miles manages to convince Peter to consider it.
Miles as he appears in The City That Never Sleeps.
Peter eventually did train Miles by the time of the Maggia gang wars in the “Turf Wars” chapter. Bolstered by the newfound knowledge he was learning, Miles contacted Peter asking for hero work. His questions were gently shot down by Peter, who warned him about the responsibility associated with his powers. Not heeding Peter’s warning, he tried jumping off of a bridge, breaking his toe in his process. Peter reiterated his previous statement about being responsible and Miles promised to do better. Peter then agreed to meet Miles that weekend for another lesson. At the end of “Silver Lining“, Peter taught Miles how to web-swing.
