Play Music Files On Your Ps4

How to view PS4 video clips on Computer | (2 Ways and More!)

Its much the same story here as it is with video files, except the supported formats in this case are FLAC, MP3 and AAC. The really important bit of info you need to know is that the folder you create for your music files on your hard drive needs to be called Music in order for your PS4 to see them.

The great thing about playing music files on your PS4 is that you can play your favorite tunes while gaming. Once youve started playing your music using the Media Player, during gaming hold down the PS button to access the Quick Menu where youll have basic music playback control such as Pause/Play, Previous/Next Track, and so on.

How To Autosave Recorded Gameplay On Ps4

Your PlayStation 4 automatically records the last 15 minutes of gameplay and saves it in your device’s video cache.

1. Press the button on your PS4 controller. Only press the button once. Pressing it twice will start a new recording and wipe the cache.

2. Select Save Video Clip or hit the Square button on your controller.

Quick tip: In the menu under Sharing and Broadcast Settings, you can change the length of the recording your PS4 saves by changing Length of Video Clip. The options include: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 60 minutes.

You Can Now Watch Your Own Videos Using The Ps4 Media Player App

Since the launch of the PS4 back in November 2013, one of the notably absent and most requested features has been the ability to play your own video files. It wasn’t mentioned in Sony’s E3 2015 press conference, presumably because they were too busy showing off The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy 7 remake, and Shenmue III, but a new Media Player app has appeared in the PS4 content area and is ready for download right now.

Once installed, simply fire up the Media Player app and either plug in a FAT/exFAT formatted USB drive or connect a media server, then browse to your files and get watching. The Media Player supports video, photo, and music – you’ll need to put audio files under a folder labelled ‘Music’ for them to be recognised, but once there you can use them as background music and control from the Quick Menu by holding down the PS button.

The Media Player is compatible with more file formats than the PS3 – here’s a complete listing of what’s you can use with it:

  • Go to the Home screening by pressing the PlayStation button and selecting Home.

  • Under the Games tab, open Media Library .

  • Select the screenshot or video you want to share. You can choose each one individually, or select several at once by clicking the icon on the left that displays the checkmark in a box.

  • If you’re selecting individual video clips, you can trim them by selecting the paintbrush icon when the video is loaded. This gives you an option to edit the clip.

  • Tap the curved arrow button to share a single screenshot video clip, or the Share button if you have multiple captures selected.

  • Another option is to copy the captures to a USB drive. It’s under the button with the three dots if you’re looking at a single screenshot or clip, and is simply the “Copy to USB Media Device” button if you have multiple captures selected. Confirm this, and the PS5 will transfer your captured media to a connected USB drive.

Media can be sent to PSN, Twitter, or YouTube. If you link your Twitter or YouTube accounts to your PSN account, you can instantly tweet screenshots or video clips, or post videos to YouTube directly from your PS5. Now, you have no excuse to show off your S-rank skills.

If you dont want to connect USB drives directly to your PS4 and ferry media files back and forth that way, you can stream videos and music from a DLNA server to your PlayStation 4. The PS4 Media Player app will detect compatible DLNA servers on your home network and offer them as options right alongside any connected USB devices when you open it

Use our guide to setting up a DLNA media server if you want to go this route. However, if youre looking at streaming over the network, Plex is a more full-featured solution you might want to look at. Plex recently became free-to-use without a Plex Pass subscription on the PlayStation 4.

How To Find The Ps5 Media Gallery App

If the Media Gallery has disappeared from the dashboard, there are other methods to pull it up. One way is to go into your Game Library scroll all the way to the right edge of the dashboard and then press R1 to get to the Installed tab. Scroll to the bottom of the list of installed games, and youll see four icons: PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now, Media Gallery, and Remote Play.

You can also reach the Media Gallery from the PS5 system settings menu. Enter the Storage section of the settings, where youll see a breakdown of the items on your PS5s internal SSD. The four categories there are Games and Apps, Media Gallery, Saved Data, and Other.

Finally, you can also get to the Media Gallery from the PS5s Create menu, which pops up when you tap or hold the Create button on the DualSense controller . When youve got the Create menu pulled up, navigate to the left side of the screen, where youll see a thumbnail of your most recent captured screenshot or video. Click it to open a pop-up menu, and youll see a shortcut button labeled Go to Media Gallery.

Once you get to the Media Gallery, you can view all your captures, copy them to a USB drive , share them directly to external platforms like Twitter or YouTube, or delete them.

Organising Your Photos Music And Videos For Usb

The PS4 Media Player accepts media from both USB and a home network. We’ll get to the latter in a moment, but let’s first focus on USB. This works similarly to the USB Music Player, but obviously includes support for media beyond audio. You’re going to need a FAT or exFAT formatted USB drive, but don’t worry if you don’t understand these terms, as chances are your device will be.

In order to organise your content, you’re going to want to create a trio of directories at the root level of your USB drive: ‘Photo’, ‘Music’, and ‘Video’. You should then create additional directories inside each of these depending on the content you’re going to bring across: ‘Holiday Photos 2015’, for example, or ‘Taylor Swift’. Once you’ve done this, copy across the media you want.

It’s worth noting that the PS4 Media Player app only supports certain file extensions, which you can find listed in full below. If your media uses alternative file extensions, then you may need to convert them before they’re compatible with the PS4. This applies to networked content, too. If you find yourself in this position, there’s tons of software on the web that can help you to get this done for free.

Do You Have The Right Pc

Most PCs can capture video game footage, even if they dont look like this. For best results, think about upgrading your PC to handle simultaneously playing and capturing video game footage. Image via Gorodenkoff.

Though you may be anxious to start recording after reading this article, Id be remiss if I didnt point out that not all PCs can handle capturing footage.

Capturing footage can impact gameplay, causing stuttering and crashes. When you record video game footage, the game and the recording software are both using the CPU and the GPU, though recording software mostly draws on the former.

Games rely heavily on the GPU nowadays, but they still need the CPU. The video recording software uses the CPU to encode the recorded gameplay as its happening. Those with a powerful CPU may not experience a drop in performance, but those with older or not-as-powerful CPUs may experience severe framerate drops, freezes, and crashes. Sometimes, not having enough CPU power may impact the recorded footage.

Youll have to strike the right balance of settings and performance when you record game footage, but some PCs may not be up to the task. If your PC struggles to play a game at 30 or 60fps, then recording may be out of the question. I cant offer specific advice on which parts to upgrade since it varies by system, but if youre having trouble, you may want to upgrade your PC, or at least your CPU.
