Ps4 Touch Pad Isn’t Working
If the touch pad isn’t working, try disconnecting and unpairing the controller for a few minutes. If this works, you’re back in play.
If not, the touch pad may need a quick cleanup.
If your controller’s touch pad stops working only during one particular game, it may be a game coding problem, so download the most recent version of the game.

Ps4 Controls On Android
Sony Xperia devices are optimized to work with PS4 controllers, but there are a few features that aren’t available on other Androids:
- The touchpad does not work, so you still must tap the screen for some games.
- You can’t customize the LED color.
- The rumble feature, motion sensor, and headphone jack do not work. You can still connect headphones to your phone.
Games designed to support Bluetooth controllers should work fine with the DualShock 4, but other wireless Android game controllers may work better with your device.

One interesting detail is that you can connect multiple wireless controllers to a single device. I was able to connect both an Xbox One S controller and a DualShock 4 with my iPhone at the same time. However, games with local multiplayer are sparse.
How To Connect Ps4 Controller To An Android Phone
In order to connect your DualShock 4 via Bluetooth, your phone must be capable of running Android 10 or later. If it can’t, you’ll either need to use a wired connection or buy a new Android phone.
Open up Settings. The steps here may vary from phone to phone, but on stock Android, you must choose Connected devices > + Pair new device.
On your controller, press and hold the PS button and the Share button at the same time.
As we mentioned before, you must hold these until the back LED lights up in a double-blink pattern don’t release the buttons early, or your phone won’t be able to detect it.
Once the DualShock 4 is in pairing mode, it will appear as ‘Wireless controller’ under ‘Available devices’ for you to select. Tap it, then tap ‘Pair’ to confirm the connection. The LED should become one solid color blue, in our case.

Using Dualshock 4 Usb Wireless Bluetooth Adapter
To connect your PS4 controller via Bluetooth, simply hold the small Share button and the central circular button simultaneously until the controllers backlight starts flashing, then push on the end of the adapter until it starts flashing. Once both are flashing, they will automatically pair after a few seconds.
For a PC with Bluetooth built-in, just navigate to the Bluetooth menu and select your controller from the Add Bluetooth devices list once its started flashing.
Luckily, you dont have to pair your controller every time you want to use it. As long as you dont unplug the adapter, it will save its last connection, so you can just tap your controllers central PlayStation button to reconnect it.
The official Sony DualShock 4 USB wireless adapter is the simplest Bluetooth option. You may have to hunt for it or spend a little more than you would on a standard Bluetooth dongle, but its worth it for its out-of-the-box functionality.

It took a long time, but now the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV finally support PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controllers and some models of Xbox One controllers. Its super easy to set up these controllers, too, as youll see below.

How Does A Playstation 4 Controller Become Unpaired

But if you do use your PS4 controller with something else like your mobile phone or your PC then you might find it doesnt want to talk to your console any more.
Whats worse is it can happen entirely by accident. If you plug your DualShock 4 into your PC or laptop to charge it up, because its a USB port you have to hand, then it might pair up with your PC and not want to talk to your PlayStation 4 any more.
It can also happen if you havent used your PS4 in a while. If the battery in the DualShock 4 runs out and isnt recharged, when it charges back up, it might struggle to talk to your console.
So if youre all charged up with nowhere to go, heres how you fix it.
How To Sync A Ps4 Controller To A Ps4
To sync a controller with the system, especially for the first time, you’ll need a USB cable any USB 2.0 Micro-B cable can connect the DualShock 4 to the console, and although there are only two USB ports on the system, you can sync up to four controllers per player account.
Before turning on your PS4, plug the small end of your USB cable into the port on top of the controller plug the other end into one of the USB ports on the front of the console.
Turn on your PS4 by pressing the console’s power button. It should automatically detect your connected controller and assign it to the first available player slot.
Press the PS button in the center of the controller and youll see the login screen where you can choose a player account or create one.

To add additional wireless PS4 controllers wirelessly, youll need to go to your PS4 dashboard with a controller that is already synced. Look for the Settings icon, which looks like a briefcase, in the row of icons above the home menu. From Settings, navigate to Devices > Bluetooth Devices.
Take the controller you want to connect and hold down the Share and PS button at the same time for at least 5 seconds. When the controller shows up in the list of Bluetooth Devices, select it. Your PS4 controller is now connected to your console and you can repeat this for any additional wireless controllers you want to connect.
