What Are Ssds And How Much Do Ssds Cost

SSDs are solid-state drives which use flash-based memory and replace typical mechanical hard disks. The PS5 comes with a custom 825 GB SSD hard drive at launch. That’s a lot of memory, but there are still ways to expand storage space even more. Users can do this through external hard drives, or by using a Sony-approved SSD.

SSDs are fairly expensive, so people can expect to pay anywhere from $70-$200 for one with adequate memory. For now, Sony’s custom SSD is the only one approved for the PS5, and there are no officially supported SSDs available at launch. Over time, expect to find other SSDs available, but make sure it’s Sony-certified to guarantee it will work with the PlayStation 5.

Playstation 5 Digital Edition Explained

When the PlayStation 5 finally launches, you’ll have the choice of two different console editions – a traditional console and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.

The main difference between the two is that the Digital Edition will lack the disc drive, as, like the name suggests, you’ll only be able to purchase digital copies of games. You will also be unable to play physical copies of any backwards compatible PS4 games or 4K Blu-ray DVDs.

The result of removing the disc drive is that the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition has a thinner, sleeker, appearance compared to the regular PlayStation 5.

What Is The Difference Between The Ps5 And The Ps5 Digital Edition

There are several main difference between the standard PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. The first is purely aesthetic. The all-digital edition of the PS5 is a bit slimmer . The reason for this leads to the second difference in the two consoles. The standard version of the PS5 comes with a 4K Blu-Ray disk drive, which is why it’s a bit bigger. The PS5 Digital Edition doesn’t have the disk disc, since it’s an all-digital console. This means game discs will only work on the standard $499.99 PlayStation 5 console.

The power between the two consoles are also slightly different. The standard PS5’s power is at 350W while the PS5 Digital Edition’s power is 340W. And for anyone wondering, the all-digital console also weighs about half a kilogram less than the standard version.

Although the patent application is not confirmed, the sketch is not far from what regular gaming console looks like. To this end, netizens cant help but believe that this could be the upcoming PS5.

As can be seen from the design drawings, this PS5 still uses a double-layer design. However, there seems to be an extension in the frame to form a shape similar to X.

From the design sketch, we can also see the PS5 interface situation. It is very similar to the previous generation. We have two USB interfaces, an optical drive key, and a power button.

Recall that some time ago, a blurred real image of the PS5 hit the web. This recent sketch is quite similar to the real image.;However, lets not get our hopes hight yet. There are also speculations that these design drawings are based on the former real image.

Heres Why Sony Could Be Giving The Ps5 A New Design

PS Plus on PS5: What Will It Look Like? | PlayStation 5

It looks like the PS5 could be getting a brand new design in the upcoming years. Although this is to be expected, as Sony often launches slim models of their consoles a few years post-launch.The new design could also be linked to the ongoing console shortage.

Although the PlayStation 5 has now been out for around 6 months, players are still struggling to get their hands on the new generation of console. But the ongoing console shortage isnt stopping Sony from breaking various records when it comes to the sales of the PlayStation 5.

Following a report from DigiTimes and VGC, weve got more details surrounding the possible re-design of the PlayStation 5, which is expected to go into production in 2022.

Resident Evil Village Announcement Trailer | PS5

Ever since the original PlayStation released in 1994, Sony has kept up the tradition of releasing an updated model of each PlayStation console for every generation.

It looks like things will be no different this console generation, as a report from DigiTimes suggests that suppliers are getting ready for a new PS5 design to start production in 2022.

However, the reasoning for a new PS5 design could be due to the ongoing console shortage and not just part of Sonys usual redesign plans. More often than not, Sony release a slim version of each console which reduces the size, weight, and also makes the console quieter than its predecessor.

What’s Happening With Ps5 Psvr

Sony has officially announced that it is working on a PS5 PSVR headset, and although it won’t launch in 2021, it aims to offer players “the ultimate entertainment experience with dramatic leaps in performance and interactivity”.;

That’s according to a PlayStation Blog post on the subject anyway, which sadly didn’t give us any glimpses at what the PS5 PSVR will look like.;

What we do know though is that it’s going to offer “a next-gen VR system that enhances everything from resolution and field of view to tracking and input. It will connect to PS5 will a single cord to simplify setup and improve ease-of-use, while enabling a high-fidelity visual experience.”

There will also be a new VR controller that goes with the new headset. It will incorporate some of the key DualSense features , but also focus on “great ergonomics”.;

“Theres still a lot of development underway for our new VR system, so it wont be launching in 2021. But we wanted to provide this early update to our fans, as the development community has started to work on creating new worlds for you to explore in virtual reality,” explains Hideaki Nishino, senior VP of platform planning and management at Sony.

Does The Playstation 5 Have A 4k Blu

Yes, it does. The PS5 can play your 4k blu-rays for that cinematic experience. Originally this wasnt confirmed, and it was thought the console would just have an optical disc drive, but dont worry its coming! In fact, the PS5 event revealed that there will be two options at launch: one PS5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and another Digital Edition without a disc drive.

In that battle against the new Xbox, it makes sense to offer both- the Xbox Series X will have a 4k disc drive too, while the Xbox Series S will be digital-only.

The PlayStation 5 will also support 8k videos- although most of us will need to wait for our TVs to catch up before we benefit from it.

What Kind Of Games Will The Playstation 5 Have

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The PlayStation 5 will have all of the third-party releases that you would expect from every console. That means that games and franchises like Call of Duty, Destiny, Fortnite, NBA 2K, and FIFA will all be on the console. But the real draw of a console is its exclusive games, and Sony is very committed to that idea.

The PlayStation 5 already has a wealth of console exclusives headed its way. Here are the console exclusives that Sony announced during its Future of Gaming event on June 11:

In September, Sony also revealed that Square Enixs Final Fantasy 16 is in development for PS5 as a console exclusive, and announced that a sequel to 2018s God of War is coming to PS5 in 2021.

Heres the launch lineup of Sony-published games. Note that Sony is raising the prices of first-party titles for this new console generation, charging anywhere from $49.99 to $69.99.

  • Astros Playroom
  • Demons Souls
  • Sackboy A Big Adventure
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition

How Much Will The Ps5 Cost

Here is what PS5 devkit looks like

Ps5 Upgraded Amd Chip

According to DigiTimes sources, the redesigned PS5 could sport new silicon with a new semi customized CPU from AMD built on the 6-nanometer process node; the current PS5 uses a 7nm custom octa-core AMD Zen 2 processor.

The move from 7nm to 6nm could see the PS5 deliver a performance boost and make more efficient use of its power. In effect, we could be looking at a PS5 Pro. This wouldnt be the most unusual thing, as the PS4 Pro followed the PS4 but that was after three years after the latters release in November 2013.

Admittedly, a late 2022 release would mean only a two-year gap between the launch PS5 and a prospective pro version. But with semiconductor shortages making it difficult to find the current PS5 and its Digital Edition counterpart, moving to a console built around a different processor fabrication node could see Sony bypass that shortage. Thats assuming that 6nm chip yields could be strong enough to come with prospective demand.

We have no way to verify DigiTimes sources, but thats not stopped our brains from imagining what wed like to see from the PS5 Pro. An obvious one would be a more compact and less.striking design, perhaps one that can better integrate with existing entertainment units.

More power and increased SSD storage space would also be appreciated as the 825GB of storage on the PS5s super-fast PCIe 4.0 SSD isnt very spacious for modern games and their large install sizes.

Gamestop No Major Bundles Just Yet

GameStop is your best chance to buy a PS5 in 2021 simply because it offers bundles and has a barrier to entry through its GameStop PowerUp Rewards Pro membership that costs $15. Some people dislike this approach, but it rewards real gamers and has nearly stopped resellers its hard for them to profit off of specific PS5 games on the open market when those games are readily available at MSRP.

But we havent heard from our GameStop sources about a major PS5 restock. Only once did they do a restock without us knowing far in advance but it was a single PS5 Digital bundle, so if theres one is wont be a big deal. Matt Swider usually knows about the GameStop PS5 restock hours in advance, so check for an update soon.

Why Does Playstation 5 Look Like An Old Cable Router From 2003

The sentiment was strong enough to get the word “router” trending on Twitter for a time on Thursday.

Sony, on Thursday, finally unveiled the PlayStation 5 gaming console, which will arrive on the market later this year, in time for the holiday season. The PS5 was unveiled during a live-streamed event, which the company said reached “millions” of fans.

The PS5 will arrive in two editions, one with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and another “digital” one with no drive at all. The company also announced several games, including a new Spider-man title. Sony had unveiled the new DualSense controller in April.

“With PlayStation 5, we are making a significant leap to deliver a truly new generation of transformative play experiences that will redefine expectations for what games can be,”; Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said as part of the announcement.

“Worlds will be richer and more beautiful, they’ll captivate your senses in ways you didn’t think possible, and you’ll be able to experience them much more seamlessly, with lightning fast loading. Today’s showcase is just a glimpse of what’s to come in the next generation, and we want to thank our community for taking this journey to PS5’s launch with us.”

The PS5 also has a new form factor, which Sony referred to as a “bold, two-tone design marking a radical departure from previous PlayStation consoles.”

But when some gaming fans got a look at the PS5 design, they saw something else: A router.
