The Xbox Series X and the full-fat PS5 are identically priced, at £449 / $500 / AU$749.
Both consoles also have a disc drive-less, cheaper sibling: that’s the Xbox Series S and the PS5 Digital Edition. This is where things get really interesting, because the Xbox Series S costs only £250 / $299,/ AU$499, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition is £360 / $400 / AU$599.
That’s a big step up, but it’s worth pointing out that the Xbox Series S is less powerful than the Series X but the PS5 Digital Edition is identical to the standard PS5 except for the lack of a disc drive. In other words, the PS5 Digital Edition is more of a proper next-gen games console than the Xbox Series S.
Sony Ps5 Intended To Be Bigger Than It Already Is
The PS5 right now is foot tall and weighs almost 15 lbs make this the biggest console to date. Sony Senior Art Director, Yujin Morisawa intended the console to be bigger than it is right now. When Yujin first drew the concept for the console, he was told by the engineers to shrink it down as it was too big a size for a console. The PS5 is sleek and thin but really tall when put upright.
It captures the attention of any person entering the room almost instantly. As the size is massive, Sony is shipping the PS5 with a stand so that it can sit comfortably and the risk of the console falling is decreased too. The stand is also helpful to sit the PS5 on its side because due to its design it would be wobbling all the time without a stand.
How To Get $12 Off A Ps5 With Walmart+
So here’s the deal, you’ve got to pay to access Walmart’s PS5 drop on June 2. In other words, the free trial membership doesn’t qualify you to get access to PlayStation 5 availability. But, here’s another deal, you can actually save $25 on your next purchase of $50 or more when you sign up for the monthly membership. It costs $12.95/ month – but with that extra saving you’re effectively cancelling this out and actually saving around $12 on the PS5.
It’s not been confirmed whether this will work on the PS5, but if you are really desperate to get the console, I’d absolutely say it’s worth the gamble. Worst case scenario is that it doesn’t work on the PS5, but you can still buy a brand new game at $12 off. Not a bad deal overall.

Latest : Sony has increased the price of the PS5 Disc Edition and PS5 Digital Edition by £30. Although PS5 availability has somewhat improved, it’s still pretty difficult to buy a standalone PS5 console. You can currently pick up the PS5 disc console from Argos for £479.99. Thankfully, there are still some retailers offering PS5 bundles at their original price, this includes BoxEE, Scan, BT Shop, Currys, and Hughes. Game has already increased the price of their bundles.
In the US, there is currently no price increase. The PS5 Disc console with Horizon Forbidden West bundle is available at Walmart. customers can request an invite to purchase the Horizon Forbidden West disc bundle for $550. The GameStop PS5 restock could happen on Wednesday, June 2, because the video game retailer has had the Sony console in stock for three Wednesdays in a row. Will it go a four-for-four? GameStop has bundles, and recently, the US retailer has stuck to packing in MLB The Show and Returnal. Amazon has changed the way it offers PlayStation 5 to its shoppers. Instead of giving priority access , you can now add your name to a PS5 waiting list regardless of Prime status.
To get in line for your PS5 at Amazon, simply visit the PlayStation 5 product page and tap the button to request an invitation. If you’re invited to purchase a PS5, you’ll have 72 to complete your transaction.
Walmart, meanwhile, has restricted most of its PlayStation5 restocks to Walmart+ members. The service, which costs $98 per year or $12.94 per month, also offers free, same-day delivery from your local Walmart store , member prices on gas and money off on certain prescriptions. Walmart+ also now comes bundled with the ad-supported tier of the Paramount+ streaming service.
Besides offering its members exclusive access to product launches and restocks, Best Buy Totaltech comes with a few other perks such as free two-day shipping and two-year product protection for all purchases. Members also get early access to other tech drops, such as hard-to-find graphics cards.
Even GameStop has a premium membership that lets you skip to the front of the PS5 line: PowerUp Rewards Pro. That membership costs $15 a year, though it does offer a $10 reward on signup, plus a $5 credit to spend every month. PowerUp Rewards Pro members also get 2% back in rewards.
