Launch Day And Black Friday Purchase Tips
Sales of the PS5 on launch day as well as Black Friday are going to be hectic. Theres no two ways about it.
Sony did say early on though that it would have limited stock of the console for sale during the holiday season. So this shouldnt be a surprise to anyone. Unfortunately, that can make it fairly challenging to complete a purchase.
So here are some helpful tips to increase your chances of getting to buy a PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition from any of these retailers on either of these days. First, make a note of which retailers you plan to buy from. Once you have that all sorted, make sure to set up accounts for each one.
Then, make sure youre logged into those retailers prior to the times that sales are supposed to go live. Ten to fifteen minutes before should be sufficient but you can log in as early as youd like. After accounts are set up, save all of the shipping and purchase information that you would normally have to type out. This means enter your shipping and purchase addresses, enter your payment information, and save it.
This will be much quicker than typing everything out.
Ps5 Purchases On Launch Day Are Online Only This Year
As noted above there are a handful of different retail partners working with Sony where you can buy the PS5.
One thing worth noting is that Sony wont be doing any in-store sales of the PS5. Confirming that all sales of the next-gen console would be online. This means that on November 12, you can only purchase the PS5 from the online stores of each retailers.
There are more local and regional retailers that also may have some for sale online. So keep that in mind if youre considering trying to purchase one from a more offbeat source that may not be hit as hard.
Also worth noting is that some retailers are probably going to start sales at different times. Walmart for example will be splitting up its stock and selling groups of the consoles at varying times to spread things out.
Specifically, you can buy the PS5 from Walmart at 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, and 6PM pacific standard time on November 12. As for the exact times for all the other retailers, there doesnt seem to be any confirmation. With the Xbox Series X, many retailers started selling at midnight. So timing could be the same for the PS5 and youll want to be on top of things. Keep an eye on all the retailers just to be sure.
Where To Buy Ps5 In The Us:
We currently have no news on PS5 restocks over Cyber Monday in the US. Walmart was the first to sell some consoles just before Black Friday, on November 22, but these sold out in a matter of minutes. There’s the possibility of another drop during the Cyber Monday period. We’ll update you as soon as we hear anything.

You Can Buy The Sony Ps5 From These Retailers
The time is upon us, as the PS5 is finally available to buy from a number of different retailers. Including Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Target just to name a few.
The cost of the console is $499 for the Disc Edition and $399 for the Digital Edition. Purchases are live as of November 12 for the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and November 19 everywhere else.
When Will The Ps5 Be Back In Stock
Unfortunately it’s difficult to predict exactly when more stock will appear, and it often appears at short notice, so the best bet is to keep an eye on all the retailers, and sign up for as many stock alerts as possible.
While availability is improving slightly, progress is slow, and Sony itself has now warned that the PS5 will remain hard to find through to 2022. That’s thanks in large part to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, which has reduced the availability of a few key components of the console.
I dont think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldnt be able to catch up with demand, Sony’s chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki told analysts, according to Bloomberg.
Despite that pessimism, Sony has forecast to sell at least 14.8 million consoles this financial year, after selling 7.8 million between the November launch and 31 March 2021. That pace will keep PS5 sales on track with the PS4, which has now sold more than 115.9 million units.
It’s also worth noting that it’s been reported that there is less stock for the PS5 Digital Edition than the regular PS5, with the ratio apparently as high at 80:20 at some stores. That means you should be prepared to pay more for the standard console if you can afford it, as you might have a better chance of securing one.

As we head into the holiday season of 2021, the chip shortages and scalpers continue to make it very, very difficult to buy a PS5. Its still impossible to walk into a store and buy one like any other console.
While theres no sure-fire way to guarantee one, we have some tips here for those keeping an eye out:
- On November 2nd, it was reported that Sony utilized four Boeing planes to transport PS5 holiday stock to the UK. Its thought that these are units set aside to provide stock for holiday shoppers in the region, so keep an eye out for when these go on sale!
- If you have an email and a PSN ID , then we highly encourage you to register for the chance to order a PS5 directly from Sony. This doesnt guarantee one, but for what its worth, this method is how I was able to secure my own, and is very scalper-proof.

Sony is opening a sign-up queue for the holiday 2021 rush. Anyone with a PlayStation Account can register and possibly be selected to purchase a PS5. Emails are slated to roll out sometime in November in multiple waves. Not everyone will be selected, and past PlayStation activities such as games played are considered for those chosen.

How To Buy A Ps5 From Sony
If youre looking for a next-gen console, one of the best places to buy a PS5 is from Sony itself via PlayStation Direct!
Somehow were a year into the PS5s lifespan and its still difficult to just purchase the next-gen console. Due to the ongoing chip shortage and labor issues caused by the pandemic, Sony has problems getting PS5 stock ready to sell.
However, when it does have new consoles ready to ship, at least the publisher is kind enough to sell it to fans directly. In fact, buying the console directly through Sony via PlayStation Direct is one of the easiest ways to get a PS5 right now.
Interestingly, Sony PS5 drops tend to be invite-only, meaning youll need to secure an invite for the best chance at getting a console.
However, often Sony also lets those without an invite join the queue at a later time, provided there are enough consoles to go around! And now Sony is letting gamers register to get a PS5 through PlayStation Direct!
Why Is The Ps5 So Tough To Find
There are three big reasons why you’re still struggling to get a PS5. The first is the most obvious: The system is really popular. Sony says the PS5 is its best-selling console and has already sold more than 10 million units since launch.

As for the last reason, it comes down to bots. Resellers are using software to purchase a massive number of PS5s at once, leaving only a few for actual humans to buy. Retailers added various bot protections during PS5 restocks, but these restrictions only hamper resellers so much.

Which Ps5 Games Should You Buy
There are plenty of amazing games on the PS5 right now, and there will only be more coming as the year goes on. As for the best PS5 games you can get, we recommend titles like Demon’s Souls and . Both make the most of the console’s graphics and performance boosts compared to its predecessor. In Demon’s Souls’ case, in particular, the remake is immaculate. When it comes to Spider-Man, Insomniac knocked it out of the park once again, creating not only a great superhero tale, but a great story for Miles as a person, too.
There are also some kid-friendly games like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Bugsnax that have charmed a lot of people with their cute styles and fun gameplay. Unfortunately, you can’t get either of these on an Xbox yet, so PS5 is the way to go if you want to play.
Over the next few years, Sony’s also committed to releasing games like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, and a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. So there’s plenty to look forward to on PlayStation 5. While some of these will be cross-gen and released on PS4 as well, they’re certainly best played on Sony’s newest machine.

Sony Ps5 Setbacks Began With The Pandemic
Sony didn’t announce the PlayStation 5 for months during the first half of 2020 , allegedly delaying the initial reveal several times due to the pandemic. Rumors of a February launch event gave way to a supposedly scheduled March unveiling, turned into a April reveal that never was. We didn’t even see what it looked like until June.
Manufacturing and shipping timelines were stretched, and demand has outstripped supply it’s been seven years since a major Sony console launch. So Covid-19 has a lot to do with why you can’t find PS5 in stock today. Things didn’t get off to a running start for a product everyone wanted so badly.
But it’s not the only reason.
Where To Find Ps5 Restock In The Us
In the U.S., many retailers are selling the PlayStation 5, including Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Target, and others. They all seem to be dropping more availability at random times throughout the day, but some are consistent from week to week. Best Buy, for example, tends to drop stock around noon. We’ve linked below to all the options, so be sure to check them often.

Should You Buy Ps5 Or Ps5 Digital Edition
You can buy one of two version of the PS5 today – the standard disk version, or the Digital Edition. The former allows you to play your physical PS4 and PS5 games, however you can still access your downloaded PS4 titles on the Digital Edition as well.
The cheaper £359 PS5 Digital Edition doesn’t have a disk drive, but still runs the same specs as the full fat console. That means you can buy PS5 for less today and you’ll still be running the latest tech from Sony.
However, there’s only 825GB in this SSD and that’s going to fill up quickly, provided you don’t grab an external HDD for your PS4 games. If you’ve got a substantial physical collection already then it might be worth upgrading to the main console.
That said, it’s difficult to buy PS5 either way right now, with launch seeing an incredibly limited number of consoles hitting the shelves. While we wouldn’t necessarily advise settling for the console you can get , if you’re set on buying PS5 today you might have to take what you find.

What Early Access Service Should I Pay For
Many companies now restrict PS5 access to subscriptions, but each is slightly different. Here is a complete description of how each one works.

Walmart now has more inventory than most other places, and this subscription could dramatically increase your chances of getting a console. You will still have to act quickly and accept the fact that you may not get the console the first time.
