Will Elder Scrolls 6 Be On Ps4

Announcement Puts The Final Nail In The Coffin For Bethesda’s Multiplatform History

Elder Scrolls 6: Slayer Scrolls – Dreams PS4

by Kyle Orland – Nov 16, 2021 8:52 pm UTC

Since Microsoft purchased Bethesda Softworks last September, the question of Bethesda games on non-Xbox consoles has been on everyone’s minds. This week, Microsoft put probably the final nail in that conversational coffin, with Xbox chief Phil Spencer confirming in an interview with British GQ magazine that the upcoming Elder Scrolls VI will be available only on Xbox consoles and the PC.

In a quote that doesn’t seem likely to soothe many PlayStation owners, Spencer said the exclusivity is “not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow.” Instead, Spencer was focused on “be able to bring the full complete package of what we have” with the company’s games, meaning integration with Xbox Live, Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming, etc. “And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI,” he added. “That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”

Will Elder Scrolls 6 Come To Ps5

Will Microsoft make this beloved franchise an Xbox exclusive?

Microsoft has finalized their purchase of Bethesda, which has led to many gamers worrying about some of their favorite franchises being Xbox exclusive, particularly, The Elder Scrolls 6.

Some Bethesda games that were previously announced for other consoles will still come out like Deathloop and Psychonauts 2, but anything that will be announced after those games will have a less likely chance of appearing elsewhere, with many worried that Elder Scrolls 6 wont come out on the PS5.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Official Announcement Teaser

Later in the piece, Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard discussed his first months working within the Xbox ecosystem, and said that Game Pass had been the biggest change for how his team thinks about designing.

Before you might want to make this game, and then youre gonna sit in a lot of forecasting sales meetings, and say, well, I dont know if we can make that game, he said. Game Pass opens up the creative canvas to many more types of games that may not find an audience in other ways.

Howard recently said he wishes the company could release The Elder Scrolls 6 sooner than planned, while explaining why the game is still likely some years away.

Speaking in an IGN interview focused on this months 10th anniversary of the last mainline series entry, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Howard admitted the extended wait between franchise releases was not ideal.

Would you plan to have the kind of gap were having between Skyrim and the follow-up? I cant say thats a good thing, Howard admitted.

I wish I could wave a wand and the game that we want to make, and we have or havent started things on just came out. Absolutely. But theres other things we want to do, right? Obviously, Fallout 4 was a huge success, we spent a lot of time on that. We wanted to go into online with Fallout 76.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Isn’t Coming To Ps5 But It’s Not About ‘punishing Other Platforms’

  • 860

Microsoft now owns Bethesda, its library, and is responsible for any upcoming projects. While there was much handwringing from fans and the media at first, we now know that the former third-party publishers projects will no longer release on PlayStation. There are obvious exceptions: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition launched on the PlayStation 5 last week, and Sony still has a contract with Ghostwire Tokyo that will be honoured. Beyond these very specific situations, though, its game over.

Of course, its not going to stop Xbox boss Phil Spencer from being asked the question, and speaking specifically about The Elder Scrolls 6 which was announced eons ago he reiterated that you wont be playing it on your PS5: Its not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow, he cryptically said of the exclusivity situation in an interview with GQ. But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about The Elder Scrolls 6. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.

In other words, if your console doesnt have services like Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold, then it doesnt have The Elder Scrolls 6. Weve all come to terms with this now, havent we?

Heres everything we know about The Elder Scrolls 6

The Elder Scrolls 6 is on the horizon. Were still not entirely sure how far away that horizon is, but we do know that its coming. Theres so much potential for the next Elder Scrolls game that were teeming with excitement.

Itll be interesting to see how The Elder Scrolls 6 stacks up against a game like Avowed, which is very reminiscent of the Elder Scrolls games so far. Hopefully, The Elder Scrolls 6 lives up to its predecessors and Bethesda can provide one of the best RPG experiences in the next generation of gaming.

Heres everything we know so far about The Elder Scrolls 6.

Elder Scrolls 6 Will Release For Xbox And Pc Only

Ever since Microsoft’s Zenimax Media acquisition, the question of whether the Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox platform exclusive has haunted PS5 owners. Starfield will be an Xbox exclusive, much to the chagrin of PlayStation owners, but surely good guy Phil Spencer wouldn’t deprive a massive, healthy platform of one of the most anticipated games of all time? Well, that’s exactly what Microsoft is going to do.

That’s according to a new interview with the Xbox boss at GQ, which makes it plain as day that Elder Scrolls 6 will act as a kind of cudgel against Sony’s console market dominance. Of course, Spencer doesn’t phrase it that way. Its not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow, he said. But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls 6. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.

PC players need not fret: Microsoft releases all of its first-party games on PC day one nowadays, so short of an unexpected about-face, The Elder Scrolls 6 is definitely coming to our platform.

Will Starfield Be Like Skyrim

Speaking to The Washington Post, Todd Howard said Starfield is “like Skyrim in space,” and will feature factions, with Constellation, a group of human explorers, being the main one. … Also like Skyrim and Bethesda’s Fallout games, Starfield will be playable both in first and third-person perspectives.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date: Still Some Way Off

Todd Howard on Skyrim’s Legacy, Elder Scrolls 6, Starfield, and More! – IGN Unfiltered #61

Lets get the bad news out of the way first: despite being teased all the way back in 2018, The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years away from store shelves.

Its good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design , Bethesda boss Todd Howard told The Telegraph back in July 2021.

That suggests that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still years off, with Bethesda likely prioritising 2022s Starfield first. Thats not necessarily a bad thing, given Starfield is the first game set to use the Creation 2 engine that will ultimately power The Elder Scrolls 6.

Optimistically, a release date of 2024 seems just about plausible, but we wouldnt be surprised if it took a whole lot longer.

‘skyrim Grandma’ Shirley Curry Will Appear As An Npc

Fans petitioned Bethesda to include the beloved YouTuber in The Elder Scrolls 6, and now it’s official: Shirley Curry, aka ‘Skyrim Grandma’ will appear in The Elder Scrolls 6 as an NPC.

“This means a lot to me,” Curry said in the Elder Scrolls 25th anniversary video , “because I would be extremely happy to know that somebody else was playing with my character in a future Elder Scrolls game.”

Fable 4 Could Be An Mmo Set In The Fable Universe

Interestingly, there’s a new rumour floating around that suggests Fable 4 may not be the new RPG entry we were hoping for, but rather an MMO set “in the world of Fable”. The news came courtesy of French journalist on Twitter, who accurately predicted the entire Xbox Games Showcase lineup ahead of the stream, so seems to have some serious insider knowledge.

A huge Fable 4 leak revealed that a massive chunk of the gameplay, and core themes, may have changed, including that the game is likely set across multiple planets, and could even involve time travel.

Elder Scrolls : Where Will It Be Set

Were willing to bet that like all the other games in the series The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be set in the continent of Tamriel, the map of which is above.

Previous games have taken us to High Rock, Hammerfell, Morrowind, Cyrodil, and Skyrim. Valenwood, Elsweyr and Black Marsh are the biggest places left to explore. However, even though these areas are prime spots for exploration, that’s not to say that Bethesda won’t return to areas from previous games.

Rumors online have previously heavily pointed towards Black Marsh, the home of the worlds reptilian Argonian race but there wasn’t actually any solid reason for this rumor. Black Marsh’s swampy marshlands and network of islands would make for an interesting geographic change for the series, though its a geography that would leave itself open to comparison with the Witcher 3. Its probably the region of Tamriel that we know the least about so Bethesda would have plenty of room to be creative.

That said, if we’re just going by where might be interesting to explore, Elsweyr would also be a candidate with its dry plains and harsh badlands that the Khajit call home.

It would certainly be nice to find out more about the culture of either the Khajit or the Argonians so both of these extremely different settings have an understandable appeal to fans.

There was also a strong rumor that the Elder Scrolls 6 could be set in Valenwood, the home of the Bosmer and its an area of Tamriel that Bethesda hasnt explored much.

Elder Scrolls 6: News, Release Date, Features, Expected ...

You might think that leaves nothing to go on, but thats not completely true. That trailer gives us some clues that may point to where The Elder Scrolls 6 is based.

For starters, all Elder Scrolls games are set in the continent of Tamriel. Weve already seen Morrowind, Cyrodill and Skyrim in the last three games, but the mountainous look of the trailer above has led to some speculating that The Elder Scrolls 6 could be set in Black Rock, where the Bretons hang out, or in Hammerfell, home to the warrior-like Redguard.

A lot more will be revealed if and when The Elder Scrolls 6 gets a subtitle. After all, Morrowind and Skyrim were actually in the title of The Elder Scrolls 3 and 5 respectively.

Do You Think Elder Scrolls 6 Will Come During Ps5/series S Gen Or Ps6 Gen

If starfield is years away, and console generation has been shortened to 6-7 years.

Does this mean it might not release during series x/ps5 gen?

Might not be released on PlayStation at all

Yep, I’d say 99.9% chance it’s XBOX/PC only. Hopefully though, Microsoft pushes Bethesda to use a newer engine.

Probably not coming to PS with Microsoft owning bethesda and all.

You just made me realize we went an entire generation without a new ES game. Dang…

I mean eso but is that really es?

I am sure Todd will push Skyrim again

And you believe it will be released in PS? LOL

Xbox CFO confirmed Bethesda will be on PlayStation a day or two ago.

I doubt PS gets it unless they opt into Microsofts Gamepass.

Considering how long people spend time in ES games, having it exclusive on gamepass for PS5 would be a money grab

Isn’t Starfield supposed to come next year? :/

TESVI will not be out later than 2025

its gonna be an xbox exclusive lmao

Might be at the very end of the generation

I don’t think Starfield is years away i believe it will come out next year could have even happened this year if it were not for Covid.

I don’t think we will be waiting so long for the new Elder scrolls as when Bethesda announced they’d be expanding the studio few years back at E3 they done it to speed up production in order to bring games to us sooner, now with MS onboard the sky’s the limit. Elder scrolls and Starfield on the engine overhaul with Fallout coming on the new build maybe in 5-6 years.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Gameplay

With no game footage released for The Elder Scrolls 6, we can only guess that it will share some of the core game elements of Skyrim. The game will likely be a massive open-world game where you wont have to follow the main story, and can instead wander well off the beaten path to clamber up mountains, plumb the depths of cave systems, and poke around ruined fortresses and towers.

We do hope Bethesda will make a more compelling story in The Elder Scrolls 6, as the one in Skyrim was decent, but some of the side quests felt more compelling. Bethesda could take notes games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3, which have a lot of side quests that relate to the games core stories.

More dynamic combat and spell-casting wouldnt go amiss. Neither would the ability to do more in the open world, like establishing a stronghold or leaving more of a mark on the world. If you planted a tree, for example, perhaps it would eventually grow. And we absolutely want Bethesda to find ways around repeated dialogue from NPCs. We’re tired of hearing guards spout about how they used to be adventurers until they suffered arrow-related injuries to the lower parts of their bodies.

Elder Scrolls 6 Xbox Exclusivity

It’s looking more and more likely that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be an Xbox exclusive title. Recent reports suggest it’s planned to be an Xbox exclusive, and since Starfield was announced as an Xbox and PC exclusive at E3 2021, it seems likely Elder Scrolls 6 will follow the same path. Despite this, Todd Howard has said “it’s hard to imagine” not bringing The Elder Scrolls 6 to multiple platforms.

Xbox made it clear during the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment conference that it will “absolutely” buy more studios, with games “first or best” on the platform. Xbox CFO Tim Stuart did clarify reports about Elder Scrolls 6 being an Xbox exclusive. “What we’ll do in the long run is we don’t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise. But what we want is we want that content to be either first or better or best, or pick your differentiated experience, on our platforms. We will want Bethesda content to show up the best on our platforms,” Spencer said.

“Just as they took the bold first steps to bring The Elder Scrolls franchise to the original Xbox, Bethesda were early supporters of Xbox Game Pass, bringing their games to new audiences across devices and have been actively investing in new gaming technology like cloud streaming of games,” Phil Spencer wrote in the announcement.

Elder Scrolls 6 May Be Set In Hammerfell

Fans believe this Tweet is a confirmation that the next Elder Scrolls will take place in Hammerfell. The official Elder Scrolls Twitter account posted a New Year’s message featuring a Skyrim, with the words “transcribe the past and map the future.” Eagle-eyed fans quickly pointed out that the location of the candles on the image may contain a clue. One is placed directly on Skyrim, one on a book holding the map down, and another beyond Skyrim’s borders in the southwest – right by the label for Hammerfell. This is the home of the Redguards, and it’s been on everyone’s radar since the teaser trailer seemed to line up with some geographic details of Hammerfell.

Will Elder Scrolls be forever tied to Xbox?

Xbox head Phil Spencer spoke with British GQ about all things Xbox recently, and one topic that came up is whether The Elder Scrolls will be forever an Xbox exclusive, now that Microsoft owns Bethesda’s parent company. Spencer didn’t outright confirm The Elder Scrolls 6 is Xbox exclusive, but it’s certainly sounding that way.

“Its not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow, Spencer said. Original Story

PlayStation fans were hoping this day wouldnt come but Microsoft has officially purchased Bethesda, meaning that certain game franchises like Doom, Wolfenstein, Fallout, and the highly-anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 could end up being Xbox exclusives.

This is a fear that plenty of gamers have had since Skyrim, one of Bethesdas best games, was available on a number of consoles, including the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, so fans who played the game on those systems wont be happy if The Elder Scrolls 6 ends up being Xbox exclusive.
