On Its First Birthday Ps5s Most Popular Game Is Fortnite

The next gen console celebrates its first birthday with data on its most popular games.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan penned a blog post today celebrating the one year anniversary of the PlayStation 5. While celebrating the year of hard work Sony employees have done and the key exclusive releases the PlayStation has seen , Ryan also reported the top ten most-played games on PS5:

  • Fortnite
  • FIFA 21
  • Demons Souls
  • NBA 2K22

These games are ranked by number of hours played, not number of players who downloaded them. Ryan reports that PS5 players logged a cumulative 4.6 billion hours of gameplay, and broadcast more than 26 million hours of streamed gaming content.

Fortnite topping the list of most-played PS5 titles is both surprising and easy to believe. It is a surprise in that its not an exclusive, and can be played just about everywhere else along with the PS5. However, Fortnites ubiquitous nature and being free-to-play make its dominance on PlayStation 5 easy to believe.

Of the top ten games listed, only Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales, MLB The Show 21, and Demons Souls are first party titles, and only Demons Souls is a PS5 exclusive. Other exclusive releases like Death Loop, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal are likely missing from the list due to being relatively more recent releases and being largely single-player games that wont gobble up gameplay hours like Assassins Creed Valhalla or Destiny 2.

Will Fortnite On Ps5 Support Cross Platform Progression

As previously mentioned, Epic plans to support cross-progression across consoles, which would essentially mean that players on PS4 and other consoles will be able to carry forward their saved data without worrying about losing their in-game progress.

All items including cosmetics, seasonal battle passes, emotes etc will carry over as well.

Fortnite Is Coming To Ps5 And Xbox Series X At Launch

‘Fortnite’ is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Unsurprisingly, Fortnite is making the leap to next-gen. The free-to-play battle royale game will be a day one release on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S Epic Games announced this morning.

The game will support cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. You can simply download the game and get right back into it on your next-gen console of choice. Your catalog of skins and other cosmetic accoutrements will carry over, as will your progress in the current season of the game.

The next-gen version of Fortnite will run at 4k / 60 fps on both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, and at 1080p / 60 fps on Xbox Series S. Epic is promising enhanced visuals with things like enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid and all-new Storm and cloud effects.

Load times have also been significantly increased and on PS5 you can head directly from the home screen into a match. Epic also notes that the DualSense controllers haptic feedback makes it feel like youre holding the Suppressed SMG or Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle.

To celebrate the next-gen launch of the game, Epic is giving away a free pickaxe to all players. The Throwback Axe Pickaxe from season 1 will be available for free from November 4th – January 15, 2021.

Heres the full list of changes and improvements coming to next-gen versions of Fortnite according to Epics press release:

A Dive Into Dualsense: A More Tactile Battle Royale

For our initial use of DualSense, were supporting adaptive trigger feedback for ranged weapons, making it feel like your old favorites such as the Pistol, Suppressed SMG, and Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle are actually in your hands. How specifically, though? Lets get a handle on it!

Fortnite will support two kinds of adaptive trigger feedback for ranged weapons: trigger pull feedback and sustained feedback. Weapons that fire once per trigger pull your Pistols, SMGs, Snipers, Assault Rifles, etc. will use trigger pull feedback, meaning youll feel the authentic resistance of pulling their triggers as you push down the trigger of the DualSense.

Weapons that require you to hold down the trigger button like the Boom Bow and the Minigun will make use of sustained feedback. Even as youre holding the DualSense trigger all the way down, youll still feel an authentic sensation of resistance, reminiscent of what it feels like to draw back a bow or keep a Minigun firing.

Fortnite Runs At 4k And 60 Fps On Ps5 And Xbox Series X

Epic details the next-gen version of its flagship game

    Tom Ivan

Epic has detailed the next-gen version of Fortnite, which will be available to download when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launch next week.

The game will run at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and at 1080p and 60 FPS on Xbox Series S. Split Screen now supports 60 FPS on all next-gen platforms.

On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Epic says enhanced visuals and physics will result in grass and trees responding to explosions, enhanced fluid simulations for smoke and liquid , and all-new storm and cloud effects.

Loading performance has been significantly upgraded on all next-gen platforms, improving texture loading and enabling players to get into games more quickly. The game also supports PS5s Activities feature, letting players jump straight into the Battle Royale lobby from the consoles home screen.

The PS5 version has general DualSense vibration support and haptic trigger feedback for ranged weapons too.

Cross-play remains available on all platforms, and progression and cosmetics carry over to the next-gen versions.

Fortnite is currently built with Unreal Engine 4 but it will be migrated to UE5 in mid-2021.

A Quick Hop Skip And A Button Press Onto The Island

The real strength of Fortnite on PS5 though is through the exclusive PS5 feature known as activity cards. Being able to start up the game, jump to the menu with one button press and choose to enter a solo battle royale mode is incredibly efficient and puts you in the game faster than you can say Fortnite.

Activity Cards are one of the best new features of the PS5 and it is kind of incredible how it allows you to get exactly where you want to be in the blink of an eye. Games like Fortnite are where it shows off the feature best, as it can put you into the game faster than we could have ever thought.

Graphically Fortnite on PS5 continues to be gorgeous, with its cartoony art style and porcelain looking figures shining in the sunlight and glistening in the moonlight. Now running at 4K, the island and the players you face have never looked sharper and being able to see everything in more detail in a multiplayer mode is a welcome change.

The same goes for the Save The World mode where details in the environment are sharper and cleaner and generally exploring the maps and missions is more enjoyable as the Early Access jank that was originally present in the mode is effectively gone.

PS5 Fortnite Gameplay & New Features! Egamers Place

More powerful hardware allows Epic to improve performance and visuals.

At launch, the version of Fortnite released on next-gen consoles will be built with Unreal Engine 4.

It will then be migrated to Unreal Engine 5 in mid-2021.

We know the PS5 will have the ability to put out 4k at 120 FPS, but it’s unclear whether this will be available for Fortnite at launch.

The Unreal Engine 5 was revealed in an impressive tech demo.

It has a number of features that make it one of the most exciting announcements in the gaming industry.

There are two standout features of the new engine, called Lumen and Nanite.

We’ll likely get some more information regarding the new Unreal Engine at the PS5 Reveal Event later this week.

    Nanite

Put simply, Nanite allows developers to import extremely high-detailed source material, but as ‘virtualised geometry’. In short – developers can add insanely detailed items into the game easily.

It’s exciting to imagine the potential for this with Fortnite!

    Lumen

Lumen concerns itself with lighting and is an incredibly impressive feature of Unreal Engine 5.

This feature allows for lighting to be fully dynamic, in other words, change depending on the environment.

It calculates shadows and reflections on the fly, creating real-time and very realistic behaviour.

You’ll even see that shining a light in the tech demo makes some insects scurry away! Amazing stuff.

Haven’t Played Fortnite On Playstation Before

If your PlayStation Network account has not already been linked with an Epic account, you’ll be asked to do this the first time you load up the game.

However, if you’ve played on Fortnite on PS4, you’ll have already connected your accounts, and you will sign in automatically to Fortnite on PS5 and be ready to hop into a match.

Small Changes That Help Improve The Experience

Other than that, Fortnite is still the same game with the same missions, modes, and a continuous cavalcade of cosmetics for you to earn. But, the changes here, namely haptic feedback and the graphical improvements offering 4K resolution are what truly makes a difference to the game. Enemies and environments are clearer and engaging in both modes is a more fun experience.

Activity Cards are a game-changer for those who play Battle Royale and just want to hop in as quickly as possible. Adaptive Triggers are a more immersive addition in Save The World, but their overall use in Battle Royale is pointless as they put you at a severe disadvantage competitively.

Fortnite on PS5 is more engrossing and new features improve the overall moment-to-moment gameplay, but, ultimately it is still the same game and the PS5 isnt going to change your opinion on it.

Fortnite is available now on PS5.

What Will Be Different About Next

Epic Games noted that they plan to support cross-play across “all platforms,” including current and next-generation ones. In a blog post detailing some of the features players can expect for next-generation Fortnite, they confirmed that the new hardware will allow the company to improve performance and visuals across the board.

Earlier this year, Epic Games announced that Unreal Engine 5 would be releasing in 2021, and with Fortnite being one of the biggest games for the company, it too would be migrating to Unreal Engine 5. In a blog post made after the Unreal Engine 5 announcement, Epic confirmed that Fortnite would be migrating to the new engine in late 2021, and it will support next-gen consoles like the PS5 in the process.

Fortnite Recebe Opo De 120 Fps No Ps5 Xbox Series X E Series S

This Will Be The New PS5 Bundle In Fortnite! (new playstation plus bundle inside of fortnite)

    17/12/2020

    via nexperts
