PS5 is upon us, although most stores have extremely limited stock, so act fast at these retailers.
We’re well into September and buying a PS5 in Australia is still super hard. It’s probably not going to get better this month, but the best you can do is keep trying: While stock allocations are rare they do happen, so you’ll need to stay vigilant, as stock is likely to remain low for the rest of 2021. When stock does appear, it tends not to last long, though we have our fingers crossed there will be a bit of a megadrop in the lead up to Christmas.
So yeah, PS5 stock replenishment is a fairly scattershot affair in Australia. Some retailers have been known to provide a few days advance notice, such as what Big W did in February , but more often than not they just appear. If there’s a local bricks-and-mortar store near you, it might be worth joining their waiting list, if they have one.
But the sad reality is that you’ll probably need to check the PS5 pages on each retailer’s site manually if you want a console right now: all relevant retailers are listed below. We’ll also update the top of this page occasionally when we get advance warning of a drop.

John Lewis & Partners
John Lewis & Partners last had a PS5 drop at 7am on 3 August. As usual with the retailer, it didnt last very long, but it does always seem to drop at 7am like clockwork.
The retailer only appears to get a couple of thousand consoles or less each time new stock comes in, so were not expecting anything big the next time theres a drop. When it happens, we recommend checking out via the app people have seen more success through this method.

Being able to buy a PS5 is largely a matter of luck and timing, but there are ways to boost your chances of actually securing Sony’s new console.
Follow restock accounts on Twitter and turn on notifications: Accounts like Wario64, Spiel Times, PS5 Restock Alert, and PS5 Stock Alerts will tweet when PlayStation Direct and other stores have PS5 stock, and turning on notifications will ensure you don’t miss any news . Of course, we tweet PS5 restock information on our own account, GameSpot Deals, as well.
Follow a Twitch bot tracking console restocks in real time: Twitch user killercam1020 has a 24/7 stream that uses a bot to track restocks for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at major retailers. The constantly moving wall of text usually shows “Out of Stock” at all stores, but when the bot detects the PS5 being in stock somewhere, you’ll be one of the first to know, if you’re monitoring the stream. You can also follow Cameron Ritz, who runs the stream, on Twitter for updates.
Don’t buy a PS5 from other Twitter users: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. PS5 restock scams are still a thing on Twitter some of these accounts are even verified and may appear to be affiliated with PlayStation. No one will sell you a PS5 at only a slight markup. Avoid buying from anyone on Twitter that you don’t know stay vigilant and buy from legitimate retail sites.

AO said to be readying stock between now and 3rd Sept . AO sometimes offers stock over the phone, so it’s worth giving them a ring.
John Lewis is expected to drop today or tomorrow, 2nd Sept .
Smyths Toys is pegged for the 1st 4th Sept , according to trusted tipster @PS5StockAlertUK.
Currys says a “limited” amount of PS5 consoles are available to pre-order now at the following stores.
Game‘s PlayStation 5 listings page has been updated with a new release date of 17th September, which means Game could drop PS5 stock between 7th – 9th September. It typically drops around 10am, and then again around mid-afternoon.
EE has revealed that new stock is “coming soon”. Visit ee.co.uk to register your mobile number by 12pm on Wednesday 2nd September for SMS updates.
Argos is set to drop again soon but there’s no firm dates as yet. Supermarket giant Asda unleashed PS5 stock on 26th August but is now sold out.

You sure can! The overwhelming majority of the PS4 games you own are playable on the PS5. Youll be able to download any games you bought through the PlayStation store on your PS4 and play them on the next-gen console.

Playstation 5 Price: Recent History
After much waiting, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 during its 16th September showcase. The Japanese giant’s 40-minute digital event featured “a look at some of the great games coming to the PS5 at launch “.
The real draw, however, was the promise of the price finally being revealed. Sony didn’t disappoint, with the PS5 Digital and PS5 prices set at £360 and £450 . That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced much higher than the rival Xbox Series X.
So how does the PS5’s price compare to that of its predecessors?
Both the original PlayStation and PS2 launched at £299 in 1994 and 2000 respectively. The PS3 was quite the step up in 2006, with the entry-level 20GB model starting at £425 although that was more or less in line with inflation with regard to the original PlayStation, and there were also the significant hardware upgrades to factor in, not least of all being the Blu-ray optical drive.
Nonetheless, the PS3 was initially criticised partly for its seemingly high price. The 60GB model’s $599 price tag took particularly heavy flack. By the arrival of the PS3 Slim in 2009, though, all seemed to have been forgiven.
The bigger public surprise was saved for the 2013 PS4 launch, however, when the PlayStation price dropped down to £350 and heralded the arrival of one of the best-selling games consoles of all time.
Be Ready For The Queue
Once someone with a PSN account is lucky enough to receive an email for a PlayStation Direct invitation, then comes the tricky part. As a part of the email invitation, a date and time will be attached for when the private queue will open. When the time comes, participants click on their link and are redirected to the queue where they must wait in line. Once their time comes, and if there are still PS5s left, they can put the console in their cart alongside whatever else they may need. It should be said, though, that even with the private queue there’s a chance not everyone in line will be able to purchase the system.
Getting a PS5 may still be a frustrating process, but PlayStation Direct at least makes it a little more likely. Compared to what players had before, it’s a bit more organized than waiting for a random restock at retailers just for the website to crash. Although the most recent PlayStation Direct restock has since passed, there seems to be a monthly pattern with the service. Prospective PS5 owners will just have to wait to see if PlayStation Direct offers another round of consoles in August.

This program costs $20 per year, and if GameStop is true to its promise people who are a part of this program will be able to get a PS5 before it is available to everyone on the website.

Looking buy a PS5? Well, so do millions of other people and the stock levels that we’ve seen so far are tight, even nearly a year after its launch. Every time a retailer puts stock up for sale, it sells out super quickly. Dozens of bots online publish a post on Twitter whenever a retailer refreshes its inventory with more PlayStations. They all generally work the same way: They search an online stores web code for a signal like an add to cart button indicating that the PlayStation is back in stock. As soon as they detect that the console is available, they publish an alert on Twitter.
The first step is to follow trustworthy bots. Here are some reliable Twitter accounts I vetted:

Which Ps5 Games You Should Buy
There are plenty of amazing games on the PS5 right now and there will only be more coming as the year goes on. As for the best PS5 games you can get, we recommend titles like Demon’s Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Both make the most of the console’s graphics and performance boosts compared to its predecessor, and in Demon’s Souls’ case in particular, the remake is immaculate. When it comes to Spider-Man, Insomniac knocked it out of the park once again, creating not only a great superhero tale but a great story for Miles as a person, too.
There are also some kid-friendly games like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Bugsnax that have charmed a lot of people with their cute styles and fun gameplay. You can’t get either of these on an Xbox yet, so PS5 is the way to go if you want to play them.
Over the next few years, Sony’s also committed to releasing games like God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, and a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. There’s plenty to look forward to on PlayStation 5. While some of these will be cross-gen and release on PS4 as well, they’re certainly play best on Sony’s newest machine.

Take buying a PlayStation 5. Since the Sony console was released in November, it has been hard to find in physical and online stores, partly because a global chip shortage has slowed down manufacturing of all kinds of tech products, from graphics cards to automobiles.
As a result, when the new PlayStation appears online on sites like Amazon, Target and Best Buy, it sells out in minutes sometimes seconds.
