Noted video-games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad has kindly shared some details about both of the PlayStation 5 consoles, namely their model numbers and box contents. He has been careful to point out that the information was sourced from a distributor in Hong Kong, so its likely that contents will differ slightly depending on the region.
Unsurprisingly, apart from the PS5 console hardware itself, there is no difference between the box contents of the Blu-ray device and the Digital Edition . Buyers of Sony’s next-gen console will find a DualSense wireless controller, an HDMI cable, an AC power cord, a USB cable, and an instruction manual in their PS5 box.
Interestingly, the 825 GB SSD is listed as part of the box contents, which seems a little odd as there is no mention of the other PS5 key components such as the AMD CPU or GPU. Theres also mention of the inclusion of the game Astros Playroom, which comes preinstalled onto the consoles.
Lastly, the box will also contain a base for the PS5. There was some speculation that Sony would sell a vertical stand as a separate accessory for its latest PlayStation console, so the presence of a base will come as a minor relief to those who were worried about additional initial expenditure.

When the PS5 is in its vertical orientation, the proper direction of a disc may not be intuitive.
The PS5s disc slot should be on the bottom when the system is lying horizontally . Obviously, discs should be inserted into the slot with the printed side facing up. To stand up the PS5, you essentially turn the unit 90° counterclockwise. So when you insert a disc into a vertical PS5, make sure to do so with the printed side facing to the left i.e., facing toward the center of the console.

Its one of the most highly anticipated gaming consoles of the year, and now a new leak gives us a look at the box for the PlayStation 5.
Daniel Ahmad, a Senior Analyst at Niko Partners has tweeted what he claims are the model numbers and box contents for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.
Mr Ahmad claims the information is from a Hong Kong distributer, and highlights that it may just be region specific.
His leak indicates that the PlayStation 5 has model number CFI-1015A, while the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition has model number CFI-1015B.
In terms of box contents, the leak suggests that the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will both ship with a wireless controller, a 825GB SSD card, a base, an HDMI cable, an AC power cord, a USB cable, and an instruction manual.
Meanwhile, the leak also suggests that both consoles will come with a game pre-installed in the form of Astros Playroom.
The leak comes shortly before the PlayStation 5 Showcase event, during which Sony is expected to reveal the price and release date for the PS5.
The event will begin at 21:00 BST tonight, and will focus on the games coming to the PS5.

How Does The Ps5s Stand Work
In horizontal mode, the stand sits directly below the PlayStation 5 with two small plastic hooks that rest in the back of the console. These hooks, along with a raised section of the stand in the middle, keep the PS5 stable using only friction and the weight of the console.
When the PS5 is vertical, the stand is held in place by a screw which, when not being used, is conveniently stored in a secret compartment in the stand itself. In this position, the screw is the only thing holding the stand onto the PlayStation 5, but theres no need to worry, as its a fairly hefty screw. If you dont have a screwdriver around, you can also use a coin to screw it in.

What Are The Sony Playstation 5 Dimensions
Original retail boxes often get thrown away or damaged from sitting around in a garage. But given the PS5 is relatively new, we suspect a fair amount of owners still have the box available and in good condition. The best option to ship a PlayStation 5 is to re-use the retail box, which measures roughly 18.5 x 7 x 18.7. Due to the size of the retail box, we recommend using a 20 x 20 x 10 shipping box because that will easily fit the PS5 box along with some bubble wrap.

Even if you no longer have the original retail box, we still suggest using a 20 x 20 x 10 shipping box. Using this size box allows you to easily fit the console and any accessories. You should make sure to use packing material around the box, and that the console and any accessories are all individually wrapped in packing material. You will also need to make sure the items are snug in the box to avoid anything being shifted around and getting damaged during shipping.

The PS5 comes in a large white and blue cardboard box. On the front of the box is a picture of the PlayStation 5 console and its DualSense controller. Flip the box around and you get the console in its horizontal orientation along with the controller again, along with the words “Play Like Never Before” written above them.
Open the PlayStation 5 box and you are presented with a inner white cardboard box that you are instructed to open lying on its side. This is to ensure the console and contents are safely extracted. Open this box and you are greeted with the console itself, which is secured in cardboard holders, as well as a smaller accessory box.

If youre going to ship a PS5, then the general rule for sending a console should be 20 x 20 x 10. This is because the box is just big enough to fit the original PS5 console box inside of it and has extra room for padding. Extra padding is essential when shipping a console to ensure that it wont get damaged.

Other items included with the console are: a DualSense controller, an HDMI cable, an electrical power cord, a USB cable , and an instruction manual. Ahmad does mention that while this information is accurate for Hong Kong, it could change on a regional basis, so thats worth keeping in mind.
Its also unclear whether the base will allow you to position the PS5 vertically and horizontally. The console is an unusual shape, and thus will require a display stand in both positions. Well obviously follow up with Sony to try and get clarification, but given how little we know about the next-gen system right now, were not expecting a response.

We now know the model numbers for both versions of PS5 as well as what comes in the box, at least for one region.
Games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad spotted the new PS5 details in a Hong Kong distributor’s database. The specific model number listed for the standard PS5 is CFI-1015A, while the Digital Edition is given as CFI-1015B. Sony reserves those first three letters for all the consoles in a console family for instance, the original PS4 was the CUH-1000 series, while the slim version is CUH-2000 and PS4 Pro is CUH-7000. It looks like CFI is going to be the new three-letter designation for PS5.

Both models have the same listed box contents aside from the console itself, and the contents are all what you’d expect. They do confirm that PS5 will come with a base for the console, which is nice. I remember when you had to buy that separately for PS2 – or be a rebel and just prop it up without one. Here’s the full list, at least according to that one distributor:
