You can also upgrade some PS4 games to properly optimize for PS4 like Cyberpunk 2077 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
What Is The Ps4 Game Experience Like On Ps5

What Does The Playstation Plus Collection Mean For Ps5 Backward Compatibility
The PlayStation Plus Collection will be the quickest way for most PS5 Digital Edition owners to experience some great PS4 games.
The PlayStation Plus Collection was confirmed by Sony during the September PS5 Showcase. This is a special program for PS Plus members that gives automatic access to a number of classic PS4 games. It’s not as robust as Xbox Game Pass because new PS5 games published by Sony won’t be included, but fans of backward compatibility will definitely enjoy the PlayStation Plus collection.

You can pretty much take your pick of a PS4 game to play on the PS5 with Sony confirming that the majority of games will be playable 99% of them to put a figure to it. Sony has been busy testing this out on a multitude of games to make sure that they all work and the results have been positive- so we should be able to play them all problem-free when the new console arrives.
Which Ps4 Games Are Forward Compatible
Several PS4 games can receive a free or paid upgrade right now. Here’s a list of the currently available free games, followed by the paid upgrades. Some of the paid options come in bundles, and may have fine print noting that it’s not an upgrade but a save transfer option.;

How To Pair A Ps4 Dualshock Controller With The Ps5
Pairing a DualShock controller with a PS5 can be done in a few easy steps. Players need to use the DualShock’s charging cable or locate another microUSB cable . After connecting the controller to the PS5 via the microUSB cord, players simply need to press and hold the PlayStation button on the Dualshock controller until a light starts flashing. The PS5 should recognize the controller at that point, and the DualShock will be paired with the system.
Players wishing to unpair the DualShock controller need to go into the PlayStation 5’s Settings, then Accessories and select the DualShock out of the Bluetooth Accessories options. After selecting the Dualshock, players should hit “Delete”;and the DualShock will be unpaired from the PS5. The PlayStation 5 may have complicated menus and options, but thankfully using a PS4 controller with the device is not one of them.
The Ps4 Is Forward Compatible
Nearly every game released for the PlayStation 4 will also run on the PlayStation 5. All you’ll need to do is insert the disk, or transfer the data using a USB storage drive or Wi-Fi transfer.
There are only eight PS4 games that can’t transfer over to the PS5. They are:
- “Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume One”
- “We Sing”
- “Robinson: The Journey”
- “Joe’s Diner”
Sony has also claimed that every game published for the PS4 from this point forward will also be playable on the PS5.
If you own newer big-budget titles like “Call of Duty: Warzone,” “Cyberpunk 2077”, or “Watch Dogs: Legion,” your games might also be eligible for a free next-gen upgrade when you port them over to your PS5. These upgrades will ideally offer better graphics and performance speed.
Not all titles are upgradeable, however, and not all upgrades are free. Several games can be upgraded, but you might need to pay for it. The games’ publishers, not Sony, determine the upgrade cost.
And while it’s great that there are some PS5 games playable on the PS4, you may want to be selective about the number of titles you bring to your PS5. Its limited storage capacity can fill up fast, and may quickly force you to invest in an external hard drive.

In general, PS4 games will load faster on PS5 thanks to the SSD. Titles like Ghost of Tsushima do take more direct advantage of the PS5’s Game Boost mode, which lets you play older games at a higher frame rate thanks to the PS5’s added power.
PS5 also supports HDR by default, meaning that you’ll automatically see the most visually rich version of a game that you are playing. If you’re making the jump from a base PS4 and not a PS4 Pro, these enhancements are more immediately noticeable.

Playstation Vr Backward Compatibility
While PlayStation VR games will be supported on PS5, it will require an adapter for the PlayStation 4s camera, which Sony will provide at no cost through its website. Sony sent one to Polygon, but we didnt receive it in time to test the performance of PlayStation VR software on PlayStation 5. Well test that more thoroughly in the coming days.

No, unfortunately not. PS5 games are optimized specifically for the updated internal hardware of the PS5. So they wont be compatible with the PS4s internal hardware.
PS5 games will work seamlessly with the increased SSD speed, ray tracing, and 4K resolution that comes along with the PS5. All of that technological goodness means that the PS5 games will look great on the PS5 console, but just cant function with the hardware components of the PS4.

The PlayStation VR headset is fully compatible with the PS5. However, it will only work with the PS Camera and an adapter – it will not work with the PS5’s own HD Camera accessory.
You can now apply for one of these free adapters, which Sony is making available to ensure that eligible PSVR owners aren’t left behind. The PlayStation Move controllers and PSVR Aim Controller will work with PSVR games on PS5. You can also use a DualShock 4.
