Finding where to buy a PS4 is no easy task. In fact, it’s almost as hard as tracking down PS5 restock. It’s a weird situation to find ourselves in right now, because the PS5 should have sent the PS4 price down to the point where retailers are basically giving them away. However, we don’t anticipate more PS4 stock appearing anytime soon.
So where can you buy a PS4? The last time we checked, there weren’t many retailers with stock. Your best bet is to look for refurbished models . Unfortunately there’s no telling how long that stock might last, because retailers don’t have a particularly healthy supply of stock these days. Now that Sony Japan has confirmed it’ll be discontinuing all but one PS4 model, we wouldn’t expect it to get any easier in the near future.
Ps: How Much Should You Pay In 2021
The one disappointment of the PS4 in 2021 is that, at the time of writing, Sony has not really adjusted the price of the device. That means that, officially, youre still looking at a price point of around £259.99/$299.99 for a brand new unit. Many retailers will offer software bundles these days, and hard drive space can vary obviously youll want to go for the most affordable option with the largest storage space available.
PS4 Pro consoles will cost you more well detail the differences below but these are getting scarce as Sony reduces the number of units it manufactures the supercharged system has already been discontinued in Japan, for example. You may be better off going the pre-owned route if this is the model you want.
If youre shopping on an auction site like eBay, then generally you should be looking to pay between £150 and £250 in the UK and between $200 and $300 in the United States for a standard PS4, depending on the condition of the device and any bundled extras. PS4 Pro consoles cost a little more, and its worth remembering that there are special edition models which can carry premium price points, like the 20th Anniversary Edition which fetches fees of up to $2,000.

Sony has a history of releasing a “slim” version of the PlayStation a couple of years after its initial release. The biggest functional difference between the original PS4 and the new slimmer PS4 is power consumption. Sony claims the new PS4 has a max power draw of 165 watts, which sounds impressive next to the original 250w max of the first PS4 until you see most benchmarks. The original PlayStation 4 had an average power draw of 150w during its heaviest gameplay sessions and never pushed anywhere near that 250w max. It is slightly smaller, though, so there’s that.
PlayStation VR performance is something altogether different.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake
After a long wait, the 2020 remake of Final Fantasy 7 revitalizes one of the most beloved JRPGs of all time in a successful and engaging way. A lot of current-gen games are massive. Some can easily clock in at over 40 GB a piece. Because of this, the PS4 requires that players install games on their console even if they have the disc version. This is done so that the gameplay experience can be smoother, but it also means that youre going to have to be more conscious of your storage and how much youre using. Discs dont save space either way, so it might even be better to go completely digital.

If you want the best possible last-gen PlayStation experience, this is the one to buy, even if it’s the largest and most expensive option. It is discontinued though, so it will likely be harder to find than the base version.

But Many Ps4 Games Are Playable Elsewhere
Thankfully, the PS5 is backward-compatible and thus able to play almost every PS4 title. This means if you own a digital game on PS4 , you can play it on your PS5 while taking advantage of the more powerful hardware.
If you missed out on the PS4, the PlayStation Plus Collection is an even more attractive perk. This benefit, available to all PS Plus subscribers who have a PS5, gives access to several top PS4 games like Persona 5, Resident Evil 7, and Bloodborne at no additional charge.
PlayStation Plus costs at least $60 per year, making it an additional cost to consider. But if you want to play a lot of these titles, waiting for a PS5 and subscribing to Plus is more cost-effective than getting a PS4 and buying them individually.
Note that some, but not all, of the games in the PS Plus Collection are also part of the Extra and Premium PS Plus tiers. You can’t access the PS Plus Collection without a PS5, but you can subscribe to PS Plus Extra or Premium on PS4.
PS4 games run faster on PS5, thanks to its built-in SSD. Just keep in mind that the PS5 comes with a limited 825GB of storage, so those PS4 games will add up quickly. If you need more space on your PS5, you can run PS4 games via an external USB drive or an M.2 SSD, but both of these incur an additional cost.

What Is The Overwatch 2 Premium Battle Pass
Some rewards for the Seasonal Battle Pass tiers can only be obtained by upgrading to the Premium Battle Pass. Upgrading to the Premium Battle Pass unlocks all premium tier rewards for tiers you have already completed. The Premium Battle Pass also grants you a Battle Pass XP boost to help you progress through the Battle Pass Season tiers to earn rewards quicker.
The Premium Battle Pass can be purchased using Overwatch Coins, an in-game currency in Overwatch 2. Overwatch Coins can be purchased with real-world currency. You can also earn Overwatch Coins by completing Weekly Challenges for the Battle Pass.
The Premium Battle Pass costs 1000 Overwatch coins, which can be purchased for the equivalent of ten US dollars. If you own the Watchpoint Pack, you automatically unlock the Premium Battle Pass for Season One.
Once you have the Premium Battle Pass, you can use Overwatch Coins to purchase as many tiers of the Battle Pass Season rewards as you want in one go.
If you complete the Battle Pass before the end of a season, you will unlock the ability to progress through that seasons Prestige tiers. These Prestige tiers offer rare rewards that require more Battle Pass XP to unlock than the lower Battle Pass tiers.

/25 Maybe Wait For A Sale
If youre looking to buy a PS4, you might want to wait until they go on sale. Sony competitively prices the system during Black Friday to make it practically a steal.
Last year, they were selling the console with Spider-Man for just $200 total.
If you have the patience to wait, it might be best to try and capitalize on a ridiculous deal rather than going out to nab the first one you see on store shelves. Youll get more for your money.
What About Playstation Vr
PlayStation VR performance is something altogether different. PS4 Pro was built to better support PlayStation VR, but even here, the differences are subtle on many titles.
Most titles that were available before the Pro was released look slightly better on the Pro. Those titles updated to support the enhanced graphics in the Pro are noticeably better looking than on the standard PS4. Because of the high focus on framerate in PlayStation VR, you’ll see more detail in Pro Enhanced titles.
Long-term, you’ll probably want a PlayStation 4 Pro for better PlayStation VR gaming, even if you don’t notice a huge difference in quality between the two right now. Bigger and better games will want that additional power.
That said, Sony is working on a PS5 VR headset with an updated controller similar to the Oculus Touch, and it should connect using only one cable. Everything about it will be much better than the old PSVR, featuring an improved display and more advanced tracking.
The old PSVR will work on PS5 though, but you will need an additional PS4 camera adaptor. These can be requested on the Sony Support page, or can be found in the box of new PSVR bundles.

Rockstars latest and greatest open-world felony simulator made its debut at the tail end of the last console generation, handily breaking records as the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, so its no surprise that it got ported to current-gen. What is surprising, perhaps, is just how much of an upgrade it got in the process. Uprezzed textures, totally overhauled lighting effects and a fully-functional first-person option were just some of the litany of updates and tweaks to the series biggest and best game yet.
Whether youre after a sprawling single-player campaign that provides a ruthless skewering of 21st century American life, or a multiplayer component with years of big free updates and an extremely active community, or just a sandbox where you can do crimes either alone or with friends, Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online really does offer something for everyone. Seriously, is there any other game where you can play the stock market, jump in a Mad Max death card and then trip on peyote so hard you turn into a bird?

Is It Worth It To Buy A Ps4 In 2022
There are two conditions in which its worth it to buy a PS4 in 2022:
- You cant find a PS5, and you havent owned a PS4.
- You get a really good deal.
Despite the PS5 coming out all the way back in November 2020, its still hard to find one at retail prices. As such, many people have held out on purchasing one. However, stock levels still havent begun to return to normal. As a result, those who havent owned a PS4 and decided to wait are missing out on a fantastic library of games.
However, even if you decide to buy a PS4, there are some caveats. The best model, the PlayStation 4 Pro, is no longer in production. Sony stopped making that console in late 2020, and theres little to no remaining stock. So, you can expect to pay a premium for it on many online stores.
The only version of the console still in production is the PS4 Slim. Unfortunately, its limited to 1080p, and youll need a PS4 Pro or PS5 to play in ultra-high definition. Even finding the Slim is tough, and Amazon sellers are price gouging and charging almost double MSRP.
So, the only way its worth it to buy a PS4 in 2022 is if you can find a good deal on a PS4 Pro. Sellers on eBay have some decent deals on refurbished models as of writing, so it shouldnt be too hard to find one that works for you. Otherwise, wed just save our money for a PS5.
