PS5 restock opportunities have slowed in recent weeks after a flurry of activity at the start of the year. Things are a little tough right now – we didn’t see any retailers offering more PS5 stock last week, for example. The big guns look ready to fire, though. Walmart, Best Buy, and Target are all well overdue a PS5 restock and now that we’re past the first week of the month, things could get heated.
Walmart‘s last round of PS5 restocks took place in mid-April, and considering we usually see one drop per month here, we’d recommend starting your engines. Of course, any stock that does appear will be reserved for Walmart Plus members. The good news is we’ll receive fair warning of any developments at Walmart. Unlike other retailers, this store regularly advertises its PS5 restocks days in advance. Keep your eyes peeled on those product pages for more information, then.
Best Buy last sold the PS5 on April 21, two weeks ago. That means we’d recommend watching for movement here on Thursday and Friday, at any time between 10am ET and 5pm ET. While Best Buy typically offers online PS5 restocks once a month, we are seeing more and more in-store drops here, so it’s well worth checking in with your local retailer. Be sure to check for in-store stock using the Best Buy app, as there may be cancelled orders ready to grab.

If youre looking for deals on the PS5, for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or the holidays in general, youll need to keep your finger on the pulse, so to speak. There is currently no PS5 restock live in the US. Consoles are available to buy once again in the UK at Game just six days after the retailer’s previous restock. It’s a good sign that the stock situation is improving, then, at least on that side of the Atlantic.
We’ve been following PS5 restocks since the console launched back in November 2020 and have a solid idea of where to buy a PS5 at any time. Generally, it’s about once or twice a month right now. The PS5 still sells out in a matter of minutes in the US at the likes of Amazon and Walmart. Those in the UK usually get anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days to buy one depending on the retailer, the number of consoles in stock or the quality of bundles available.
So, timing is still key. Because of that, our aim is to give you the most up-to-date PS5 restock info, as well as a long list of retailers and when they might have availability next that you can check at any time.

PlayStation Direct is the most reliable way to get a PS5, but its hard to get access. PlayStation Direct typically restocks PS5 consoles once per month, with the least stock drop taking place on April 25. To get access, you have to and hope youre selected to purchase a PS5. Then, you can wait in a virtual queue to buy one.
You wont have to race anyone either since youre guaranteed a window of time to check out, but you have to get that elusive invitation first.

Best Buy does in fact have PS5 inventory, according to our sources. The retailer has been all over the place with restock dates, yet we can report that it has generally has favored Thursdays or Fridays in recent weeks. The Best Buy restock time has also been very sporadic in 2021. The one takeaway is that it recently paired the PS5 with Ratchet & Clank PS5, a bundle that hints a restock may happen tomorrow.
Walmart has consistently done a PS5 restock on Thursdays, though we always warn it’s not every Thursday. Apparently, this week. Every Walmart restock has been at or around 3pm EDT . Last week they did an odd thing in that very little new stock of PS5 Digital launched at 3:10am on Thursday. Only a few people got it.
Newegg had a PS5 bundle with Destruction All-Stars and MLB The Show as part of the bundle. It’s always a lottery with the Newegg Shuffle, so you’re never guaranteed to get it, but you also don’t have to constantly try to add it to your cart. Newegg also has a massive RTX GPU restock this week.
GameStop has a PS5 restock three out of the last four Wednesdays last week was a short week due to Memorial Day, so very few retailers in the US had the Sony console in stock. We didn’t see a GameStop restock this Wednesday either, but it could still happen this week.

There are two versions of Sony’s latest console: so how do you know whether to buy the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition? Well, there’s one major difference between the two – outside of the price.
The PS5 Digital Edition does not include a disc drive so no physical copies of games can be played on the console and you will have to buy all of your games digitally. All purchases have to be made through the official PSN Store. You will, however, still be able to play old PS4 games as long as you bought a digital copy. With that in mind, if you’ve fully embraced the digital revolution and are looking to save on the upfront cost of the console then the PS5 Digital Edition may be right for you.
For most, though, we’d suggest sticking with the standard PS5 as it has the added flexibility with the included disc drive. The other major sticking point with the PS5 Digital Edition is that Sony manufactures far fewer of them compared to the normal PS5.
