When Is The Ps4 Pro Coming Out

Don't Miss

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2

PlayStation 4 Pro Teardown | PS4 Pro

Developer: Hardsuit Labs

Release Date: TBA 2022

The original Bloodlines is a cult classic amongst RPG fans, with many having given up hope that a sequel would ever materialise. Well this unexpected wish has come true, and the upcoming new entry is also on its way to next-gen consoles. Taking place in a rain-drenched Seattle, players will take on the role of a unique character who must solve a dark, unfolding mystery spread across the metropolis.

Players can once again expect a wide range of gameplay approaches, different factions to communicate with and a world that is constantly shaped and changed by the decisions you make. Heres hoping this new installment reaches a much wider audience, given how beloved the original game was and still is amongst its fanbase.

Will There Really Be A Ps5 Pro

As technology continues to improve, graphics technology will soon be able to achieve that ray traced 4K 60fps future. When that happens on PC, fans will too be clamoring for a mid-cycle refresh that can offer similar gains. But demands on Twitter might not translate to a new system.

The PS4 Pro has been difficult to find these past two years, either due to high demand or low production. For those wanting to get a PS4 Pro, it was likely that they would need to find one secondhand or wait for a special edition bundle, like the ones featuring Spider-Man or Death Stranding.

Sony has never officially released numbers for PS4 Pro sales, which could suggest that they paled in comparison to the base PS4. Sony also recently discontinued production of the PS4 Pro, likely to prioritize PS5 production.

At the moment, its still hard to say if there will be a PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X2.

Ps4 Vs Ps4 Pro Connections

  • PS4 Pro has an extra USB port
  • PS4 Pro also has an optical audio port
  • Original PS4 uses HDMI 1.4, Pro uses HDMI 2.0a

In terms of rear connectors, the PS4 Pro is nearly identical to the standard PS4, aside from the addition of an extra USB 3.0 port which should be pretty useful if you’re planning on hooking up a PlayStation VR, since the headset takes up a USB port when it’s plugged in.

An extra USB port is an excellent inclusion, since the PSVR brings back the Move Controllers which each need a USB port to charge. If you’re planning a jump into virtual reality, then the PS4 Pro might be the way to go.

Unlike the slimmer PS4 currently on sale, the PS4 Pro does include an optical audio output on its rear, just like the original launch PS4 from 2013.

The final difference between the ports on the back of the console is the HDMI port. While the standard PS4 has an HDMI 1.4 port, the PS4 Pro has an HDMI 2.0 port to allow it to output at 4K resolutions .

It’s important to note that you don’t need to upgrade your HDMI cable to take advantage of 4K, despite what Sony is claiming on its official FAQ. Any HDMI cable that can handle 1080p can do 4K just fine.

Ps4 Pro: Specs Release Date And Price Confirmed

After announcing a new PlayStation console just prior to E3, Sony finally shares new details on its new, more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro.

As expected, Sony today unveiled its new, more powerful PlayStation console, which is called PlayStation 4 Pro. It will launch on November 10, 2016 and cost $399/£349/A$560.

The console will complement the standard PS4 and sit alongside it. The name was picked to show that it is part of the current version of the console, but aimed at the higher-end gamers. It is not an entirely new architecture and thus not a new generation of PlayStation hardware.

During the PlayStation Meeting event, Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, discussed Sony’s decision to pursue 4K and HDR, which are two of the major new features the PS4 Pro enables. House described these as “natural” paths of progression for visual fidelity. He went on to introduce lead architect Mark Cerny, who said Sony’s vision is to “take the PS4 experience to extraordinary new levels.”

“Our goal is to deliver high-fidelity graphical experiences,” he added. “We aim to provide developers with tools to further their visions.”

Among the hardware upgrades in the PS4 Pro are a 1TB hard drive, doubled GPU power, and technology adapted from AMD Polaris graphical architecture. These allow the PS4 Pro to reach resolutions “not thought possible on consoles” in 2016. The CPU clockspeed has also been boosted. The Pro will not have a 4K Blu-ray drive.

Ps4 Vs Ps4 Pro Internals

The best PS4 Pro design yet is coming in late August but there will ...
  • PS4 Pro has better GPU performance
  • PS4 Pro has 802.11ac Wi-Fi antenna and Bluetooth 4.0
  • PS4 Pro has an additional 1GB of DDR3 RAM

The internals are where we see some of the key differences between these two PS4 models.

Both consoles share an AMD Jaguar x86-64 8-core CPU, which has seen a 30% boost in clock-speed from 1.6GHz to 2.1GHz based on its predecessor.

Meanwhile the GPU has seen a much bigger performance increase. Its power has been doubled, and its clock-speed has been boosted from 800MHz to 911MHz.

In total the GPU has jumped from 1.84 TFLOP in the launch PS4 to 4.2 TFLOP in the Pro. This bump is in order to accommodate the new 4K functionality.

The Wi-Fi of the Pro has also seen an upgrade to include 802.11ac and a Bluetooth bump to v2.1 to v4.0. Both of these upgrades were also seen in the new slim PS4.

The Pro also has an additional 1GB of DDR3 RAM, which will be used for non-gaming apps to free up the faster GDDR5 RAM for gaming performance.

Fans Wonder If Ps4 Pro Has Been Discontinued

  • 0

Has Sony discontinued its super-charged last-gen console, the PS4 Pro? Thats what fans are pondering, after an update to its official US-based storefront PlayStation Direct included a note next to the out of stock system stating there are currently no plans to restock this item in the future. Ahead of the holidays, the PS4 Slim is also out of stock, but theres no mention of it never being available again.

The move would make sense in the circumstances: coronavirus has heavily impacted manufacturing, and the Japanese giant will be looking to assemble as much next-gen inventory as possible. While the PS4 is clearly not going anywhere and will serve as an entry-level system for the foreseeable future, the PS4 Pros position as a premium product has been replaced by the much more powerful PlayStation 5.

Of course, it could also be that PlayStation Direct has decided not to restock the system, but that itll continue to be available at other retailers. Well reach out to Sony and try to get some kind of confirmation on this front. Do you think the PS4 Pro has served its purpose at this point? Do you think there is still a market for the mid-gen refresh, or would the platform holder be right to pull the plug? Remember the triple-decker device in the comments section below.

Should You Buy Ps4 Pro Or Wait For Ps5

With the 8th generation of video game consoles coming to a close, should you buy a PS4 Pro or wait for the PS5? The choice could save you money.

Should you buy a PS4 Pro now, or does it make more sense to wait for the PS5 release? By November 20th, 2020, Sony’s PlayStation 5 is coming during the holiday season. As the PS5s launch day comes close, some might be looking to pick up a PS4 Pro. This guide will help you decide whether you should buy a PS4 Pro, or wait until November for the PS5.

The PS4 Pro is a more powerful version of the PS4. Launched in November of 2016, it comes with more advanced hardware than a typical PS4. The PS4 Pros upgrades included a GPU that is almost twice as powerful as the original, leading to improved in-game visuals and a 1 terabyte hard drive. The PS5s specifications havent been fully detailed, but it will have an 8-core AMD chipset, 8K TV support and backwards compatibility with PS4 games. If you do opt to wait for the PS5, you will still be able to play anything you may have missed on the PS4.

Ps4 Vs Ps4 Pro: 1080p Tv Performance

  • Some games play at higher framerates on PS4 Pro

Although the PS4 Pro is meant mainly as an accompaniment to 4K televisions, the console will also give a graphical boost if you’re playing on a 1080p screen.

But while some of these enhancements are intentional, such as using supersampling to enhance the amount of detail in a given scene, others are not.

PS4 Pro will also give a graphical boost if you’re playing on a 1080p screen

The Last Guardian, the much-delayed game from Team Ico, finally launched with numerous framerate issues that were present on both the PS4 at 1080p, and the PS4 Pro at 4K.

But a performance analysis revealed that these issues almost completely disappear if you force the game to run in 1080p mode on a PS4 Pro by changing the system settings.

We don’t think this is an intentional feature of the Pro, but if this trend continues in the future it might make the Pro a much more necessary upgrade for 1080p TV owners.

When Did The Ps4 Slim Come Out

The PS4 Slim was first announced by Sony in 2016 and released later that year on September 15th. It was initially available in two models – one with a 500GB hard drive and the other with a 1000GB hard drive.

The PS Slim is a smaller, more compact version of the original PS4 console and features a redesigned chassis as well as a new matte finish.

Give Game Developers More Time

As a console generation ages, developers find new techniques to exploit hardware. The original Uncharted, which launched in 2007 on the PlayStation 3, was considered a technical marvel at the time. But developer that the game only utilized 30% of the systems performance. It wasnt until Uncharted 2 that the team was able to tap into the full power of the cell processor.

But Uncharted is an extreme example. On the PS4, Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us 2 both of which were released three years apart did not see the same graphical leap. Thats because the architecture of the PS4 was more familiar and PC-like than the PS3. It was easy for developers to quickly learn the ropes and start exploiting the consoles hardware.

According to architect Mark Cerny, the time to triangle , or the ability for developers to get up to speed on the hardware, decreased dramatically between the PS3 and PS4. For the PS3, it took developers 6 to 12 months. PS4 greatly reduced the time to triangle to 1 to 2 months. The PS5, given its similar architecture, has reduced it to less than a month.

That means Naughty Dog will almost immediately be able to tap into the full power of the PS5. Even then, I suspect its first PS5 game might also have users choose between quality and performance modes.

Sony Ps4 Pro: The Games

All games that work on the PS4 Pro will also run on a regular PS4, although they will have better graphics on the more capable machine. Here’s a list of the titles confirmed to have PS4 Pro enhancements so far:

  • Bound
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Remote Play And Second Screen

2TB PS4 Pro 500 Million Edition pre

Through Remote Play users can operate their PS4 through the uses of a PlayStation Vita handheld game console, allowing for the play of PS4 games and other media on the small device via streaming. All games that do not require the PlayStation Move or PlayStation Camera are compatible.

The second screen can be used to display unique content when playing games that support this option, but it should not be confused with a split-screen. The second screen may be used to show extra content like maps, alternate camera angles, radar or even playbooks in sports games. Apart from PlayStation Vita, other mobile devices such as iPads or Android tablets can also be used as a second screen. That comes in the form of both the official PlayStation App and game companion apps such as Knack’s Quest.

Where To Buy A Ps4 Console In 2021

It’s not very easy to find a PS4 for a reasonable price in 2021, and the demand for the now outdated console has skyrocketed.

Although many people have been hunting for the PlayStation 5 since launch last holiday, there’s a somewhat surprising demand for the PlayStation 4, too. Yes, we’re talking about the console that originally launched in 2013. Perhaps the PS5 fever has led some people to dive back a generation into the PS4 instead, or maybe an immediate nostalgia effect is already kicking in for other gamers. Regardless of the exact reason, the fact is that the PS4 is hard to find in stock at major retailers, especially for reasonable prices. Listings on eBay for the PS4 are extremely active, with prices sometimes reaching pretty darn close to the PS5 list price. We’ve put together a guide covering where to buy the PS4 in 2021, including both new and preowned consoles.

If you wind up picking up a PS4, we have multiple roundups that should be of interest, including the best PS4 games, best PS4 headsets, and best PS4 controllers.

Sony Decides To Continue Making Ps4 Consoles

A million more PS4 consoles are being manufactured this year, but that could increase based on demand.

Sony has informed its manufacturing partners that production of the PS4 console will continue throughout 2022.

As Bloomberg reports, Sony never officially stated when PS4 production would end, but “people familiar with the matter” said the end of 2021 was Sony’s previous cutoff date. However, the pandemic coupled with huge demand for the PS5 has seemingly changed Sony’s mind.

During 2022, one million new PS4 consoles will be produced, but that figure could change depending on demand. Remember, Sony’s robots can assemble a PS4 every 30 seconds, so reacting to increased demand won’t be a problem.

You’d think Sony would want to move as much of its production capabilities over to the PS5, but instead the company sees PS4 production as helping to offset pressure in the marketplace. After all, the PS4 offers a huge range of games to play and the console costs significantly less than the PS5. Stock of new PS4 consoles all but disappeared in the run up to the holidays, pushing prices of both new and used units higher.

Ps4 And Ps5 Pricing In 2021

It’s difficult to give an exact price for the PS4 at this time since the console is mostly being sold pre-owned and through bundles. However, in general, the manufacturer’s set price of the PS4 Slim is $300, while the PS4 Pro is $400.

The major difference between these is that the PS4 Pro can play games at 4K resolution due to its more powerful hardware. Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t dropped the suggested price of either system after the launch of the PS5.

In contrast, the PS5 Digital Edition is $400, while the standard PS5 is $500. Pricing aside, there are still reasons to consider a PS4 if you can’t find a PS5 .
