Estimated life span 5 years. Potential lifespan anywhere between 5 to 20+ years. I still have my ps1 and it works so does my ps2 whereas both my ps4s have bricked themselves on me only with the pro I bothered getting it fixed because I my pro and want to keep it well into the ps5 era or as long as humanly possible.

Throughout the lifespan of the PS5, however, Sonys DualSense Wireless Controller has been an incredible controller to experience all of the games on the PS5 especially with the push of a button to share moments. amazing like a hilarious glitch or defeating a Bloodborne boss without touching yourself.
The DualSense Wireless Controller is a great pad, but looking at what Microsoft is doing with the controller options for Xbox Series X, it can be a bit of a letdown that you dont have an official PS5 Elite controller.
Sony recently released a rear button accessory that maps two of the DualSense Wireless Controllers buttons and lets you keep your thumbs up on the analog sticks when you want to crouch, jump, reload, or anything in between.

The company’s latest trio of controllers, the Reflex, Reflex Pro and Reflex FPS, all have four paddles, and the Reflex and Reflex Pro support Sony’s DualSense adaptive triggers. How To Use A Ps4 Controller On A Ps5
1. Plug your DualShock 4 controller into one of the USB ports on your PS5 using a microUSB cable.
2. Press and hold the PlayStation button on your controller for about five seconds until the status light flashes.
3. The PS5 should now ask you to choose which player will use the controller. Make your choice.
4. Unplug the cable.
The controller is now paired with the PS5 and you shouldn’t need to use the microUSB cable again.
The most important limitation of using a PS4 controller on a PS5 is that even after connecting it, the controller will only work with PS4 games that you play on the PS5. You can’t play any native PS5-only titles with a PS4 controller. If you try, you’ll simply see an error message that advises “PS5 games can’t be played using the DualShock 4.”
Note: While PS4 controllers work with the PS5, the opposite isn’t true. You can’t connect a PS5 controller to your PS4 it won’t be recognized as a valid device.

Will Sony Ever Make A Pro Controller
Unlike Microsoft, Sony hasnt created an official pro controller for its consoles yet. Unfortunately, though, the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment doesnt work on the PS5 DualSense controller, and the only other professional-grade pad available right now is the HexGaming Esports Rival Controller 2, which isnt cheap.
Razer Raiju Tournament Edition Best 3rd Party Ps5 Controller
The Raiju Tournament Edition is Razers cheapest but less customizable PS5 controller. It still features the rear paddles and extra shoulder buttons, but it doesnt have as many bells and whistles as the Raiju Ultimate. Its analog sticks are also quirky like the Xbox Ones controller, and while it feels less premium than the Raiju Ultimate, it still manages to be a satisfying controller to use.
The buttons feature the same mouse click-ness as the Ultimate, and while you cant swap out the D-pad, it looks more like a D-pad than buttons its split into four quadrants like the DualSense Wireless Controller.
The triggers keep the same shape and the trigger stops come back as well. Analog sticks, on the other hand, arent as soft to the touch as the Ultimates because theyre plastic rather than metal, but they still feel great. And thankfully, you can always remap the extra buttons with the Raiju app, although you cant swap profiles on the controller itself.
In short, the Raiju Tournament Edition may seem cheaper than the Ultimate, but its still a great controller, especially if you prefer offbeat analog stick placement.

Overall, I believe the Elite Controller is worth the money if you know what youre getting into. The Elite controller offers a better experience because of how it feels to use the design. The heavier weight, improved grips, and button mapping are wonderful. I take full advantage of every feature of the controller.

Press and hold the PlayStation button in the middle of the DualShock 4 pad until the light flashes. If it’s worked, the PS5 should ask you whos using the gamepad.

You can use a PS4 controller with PS5 easily, but the downside is you can only use your PS4 pad to play PS4 games on PS5. You cannot use your DualShock 4 to play any PS5 specific games and that’s because of all the PS5 specific features according to Sony: We believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features were bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller, says Sony in a statement on the PlayStation blog. This also extends to “PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers” too.

Thankfully, the benefits of using the PS5 controller are seriously worth it. You’ll just need to buy a second if you want to play co-op or simply have a spare to switch out.
Should I Connect My Ps5 Controller To The Ps4
If the DualSense controller is your only option, and you dont have a DualShock or other PS4-compatible controller lying around, then its probably justified to use the PS5 controller on the PS4.
However, using the PS5 controller on the PS4 wont really give you that next-gen experience. Its Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers would function as if you are playing a PS4 game on the PS5- in that they dont work. Plus, given the DualSense is allegedly prone to drifting after approximately 417 hours, wed recommend saving that time for PS5 games in the future.
If youre in the position of owning a PS4 but not a PS5 and need a new controller, wed probably recommend not picking up a DualSense for now, either.

Rather than plowing money into a massive marketing and advertising campaign, Corsair is clearly biding its time to see how the whole PS5 stock debacle plays out.

In its Ultimate PS5 FAQ, Sony says, PS5 games will require use of the DualSense wireless controller, as they have been designed to take advantage of its immersive new features.
There is a workaround though. If you use Remote Play to play your PS5 games streaming through another device , you can play PS5 games with a DualShock 4 that is linked to the streaming device.
