Following an initial announcement last October, Sony has announced that PSN players will finally be able to change their online handles starting sometime Wednesday in the US and Thursday in Europe. But players who do change their online names might face issues ranging from minor to critical when trying to play some legacy PS4 titles.
PlayStation Director of Social Media Sid Shuman writes that all PS4 games published after April 1, 2018 “have been developed to support the online ID change feature.” That said, he adds that not all recent releases have been tested, and some may not “fully support the feature.”
For PS4 games published before April 1, 2018, Sony has already identified a handful that experience serious problems after users change their PSN names. The following games may run into “critical issues” such as loss of in-game currency and game or trophy progress along with improper functioning of user-generated content and other parts of the game . Sony recommends you not change your PSN name if you plan on playing any of these titles:
- Disc Jam
- Warframe
- WipEout Omega Collection
Sony says that “PS3 and PS Vita games are not supported” under the name-change feature, but it’s unclear if or how those games will still be usable after a name change takes effect. We’ve reached out to Sony for clarification.

The replies for the Worst Call of Duty section were varied but a trend did begin to appear after a couple thousand responses. It seems most players opted for Vanguard as the worst game the franchise has put forth.
Theres no doubt that some recency bias likely impacted these results, but Vanguard has been one of the most hated Call of Duty games ever made. Despite being fresh in peoples minds, the game has come under fire for being a mess since it was released.

Playstation Store Leaks Cod 2016 Name: Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Sony just made a big mistake: the PlayStation Store in North America on PS4 received its weekly update, and PlayStation mistakenly added a banner page for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which appears to be the title of this years game developed by Infinity Ward.
As of this writing, the listing has now been removed from under the Trending Section of the PS Store on PS4.

Other functions in the update also make reference to switching from the previous method of returning the online ID, to the new system that uses the account ID.
This could very mean Sony is planning to implement a name change feature of some sort, though it’s possible the update is referring to something else.
Reading through the notes, it seems Sony’s assigning IDs to all accounts which can’t be changed, and it’s what games and the network will use to identify players. Account names, on the other hand, are free of this and can be changed, at least that’s how we’re reading it.

Now, Sony will ask you to confirm your birth date. It is vital that you input the date you want for the life of your account here. Once you click the Next button, theres no going back. Even refreshing the browser or logging in again will not take you back to this page.
Scroll down to where it says Date of birth, and use the drop-down menus to enter the date of birth that you want to use from now on.
Again, we cant stress this enough, this is the one and only way currently available for you to ever change the age connected to your PlayStation account. If you get it wrong this time, youre basically out of luck unless Sony finally decides to make everyones life a little bit easier.

I’m considering changing my online ID for PS4, but I noticed that it said that with certain games this ma cause me to loose access to content such as add-ons and virtual currency. Apparently parts of the games and applications might not function properly offline or online.
Does that mean I could lose my stubs and the cloud data for my account? Can anyone from SDS shed some light on this?
I also noticed that if you go to the playstation games list there are several MLB the Show games with known issues including 14, 15, 16, and 17.
Is that still an issue for 20?
I believe 20 came out after they started allowing name changes, so I’m fairly certain you should be fine. Even if there were an issue, I believe you can revert back to your original name to fix it.
That being said, I haven’t gone through the process myself so I’m sure you would want to wait for confirmation from someone else.
