The Ps4 Games With The Best Graphics

How to Get Better Graphics on PS4

Its no secret that the best games tend to come right at the end of a consoles life. After years of getting used to the hardware, developers can push the limits of what consoles can do and create better running, playing, and looking games than we saw just years earlier on the same machines. While many of these improvements are less noticeable to the average person or player, no one can deny that graphics have hit almost unreal levels of fidelity and detail on the PlayStation 4.

Now that the PlayStation 5 is out we are seeing a few games push realistic graphics to a new level. But there are some late and even early PS4 titles that set the bar so high, it might be a while before developers can overcome them even with the more powerful hardware. Theres always an argument to be made between stylized and realistic graphics, but when you really want to show off how far games have come, these are the games on the PS4 with graphics so good they might fool you into thinking theyre real.

What Gpu Is Used In Ps4

AMDs Radeon GCN architecture, which is GPGPU-capable, powers PS4. The top performance of 1.84 TFLOPS is possible with 1,152 usable cores . Any task that requires general-purpose computer capacity can benefit from this processing capability, including graphics, physics simulation, or a mix of the two. The GPU is primarily based on the Bonaire architecture, which employs GCN 1.1 technology. The PS4 GPU lacks VRAM since it relies on system RAM for graphics processing.

Horizon Forbidden Wests Graphics Modes On Ps5 And Ps4 Explained

Weve known for a while that Horizon Forbidden West would offer two visual modes on PS5, but Guerrilla Games hasnt discussed the details of the graphics settings until now. And its only within the past few weeks that Sony has shown any footage of the games PS4 version.

Ive been playing a PS5 review copy of the game for a couple of weeks now, switching back and forth between the rendering modes. Youll find the toggle, which is marked Graphics Mode, under the Visual tab of the settings menu. The options are Favor Resolution, which the game says favors a higher fidelity at a lower frame rate, and Favor Performance, which favors a higher frame rate at a lower fidelity. How illuminating!

Since the in-game descriptions are so nonspecific, I reached out to Sony for more information. Here are all the details, courtesy of a PlayStation representative.

Even if youre using the 30 fps resolution mode, all the menus still run at 60 fps. Neat!

The Favor Resolution mode the default setting runs in native 4K resolution , targeting a frame rate of 30 frames per second, with a combination of temporal anti-aliasing and fast approximate anti-aliasing . The Favor Performance mode runs in 1800p resolution with checkerboard rendering, targeting 60 fps.

Its worth noting that the resolution figures here are maximums the game uses dynamic resolution in all graphics modes, scaling the image where needed to maintain the target frame rate in question, according to Sony.

To check if you’re using the correct port, look at the back of the TV and try and find a ‘HDMI 2.0’ port. If you can’t find one, try HDMI port one. Often that’s the one with the fanciest technology, and you’ll find out in the next step anyway.

How To Download Games Remotely To Play When You Get Home

There are few things worse than buying a brand new game online and then having to wait for hours in order for it to download. Most PS4 games will allow you to play part of the game before the rest has downloaded – represented by a shorter download bar on the user interface – but that can often be a very truncated experience.

You can however buy and set games to download to your PS4 Pro remotely. If you Stay Connected to the Internet ticked in Settings> Power Save Settings> Set Features Available in Rest Mode and have your console in sleep mode rather than completely switched off, you can set downloads to automatically install on your machine through an internet browser or the official PlayStation App.

Using the app for iOS or Android, you can access the PlayStation Store, click on the profile icon on the top right, then on Download List and you’ll see all your purchases past and present. Click Download to your PS4 on any of them and they will do so automatically.

It is similar when using a browser. Head to store.playstation.com, sign into your PSN account and you will find the Download List option by clicking on your username in the top right-hand corner.

Uncharted : A Thiefs End

How to Get Better Graphics in Warzone on PS4, PS5 or Xbox (Install High Resolution Texture Packs)

Leave it to Naughty Dog to get not just one game on this list, but two. Even though it was released in 2016, Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End is still a masterclass in graphics. Unlike the more subdued and melancholy tone and gameplay of The Last of Us Part 2, the Uncharted games have always been more bombastic and lighthearted with their exciting set pieces and endearing characters. Now on the PS4, both of these aspects were taken to new heights thanks to the cutting edge visuals they were able to hit.

Almost more than any other game on this list, Uncharted 4 almost doesnt seem to care if you notice just how good it looks when it cranks up the action. To be fair, when youre hanging on a rope for dear life while being dragged by a truck and shot at, you probably wont notice how the mud is deforming around Nates legs. Then there are the smaller things, easily missable, but perhaps even more impressive such as how if you disturb some rocks on a slope by shooting them, you can watch a dynamic little rockslide that looks exactly like it would in real life.

God Of War On Pc: Most Noticeable Differences From Ps4

While God of War on PS5 and PC have less noticeable differences, there are night and day distinctions between the PC and PS4 versions of the game.

There are a variety of noticeable differences when playing God of War on the PC versus the PlayStation 4. Most of the differences depend on how powerful the PC rig is and which PS4 edition a player is using. Nevertheless, God of War‘s PC version beats PlayStation’s, with the PlayStation 4 in particular falling short of the graphical detail seen on the PC and PS5.

On October 20, 2021, the announcement trailer for God of War‘s PC edition officially confirmed that the former PlayStation exclusive would be coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store. While the trailer showcased the game running in 4K at 60 FPS, it didn’t mention any of the new graphical and performance settings. Over a month later Sony launched another God of War PC trailer, boasting significant enhancements that were exclusive to the PC edition. It was clear from the trailers that God of War on the PC would have many noticeable differences from its PS4 predecessor, which was made certain once players finally got their hands on the game.

How To Turn On Hdr On A Ps4 Pro

Again, to turn on HDR on a PS4 Pro you need to make sure your PS4 is connected to the correct HDMI port to turn on HDR. Perform the previous two steps before reading on. Here’s where it gets a little tricky. To enable HDR, you may need to switch it on in your TV’s settings screen. Given the sheer number of TVs there are out there we can’t provide a walkthrough for that, but if you search for the TV’s model and how to turn on HDR, you should find a separate guide for that.

Just bear in mind that TV manufacturers do occasionally refer to HDR in a variety of different ways. Again, a quick Google search should help you resolve that. Finally, you now need to go into Settings, Sound and Screen, and then Video Output Settings to turn HDR on. If you’ve performed the previous steps correctly, you should be able to enable it. If not, repeat the previous steps.

Not every game supports HDR on the PS4, but you can find a full list of all PS4 HDR compatible games through the link. It’s also worth noting that HDR is available on the standard PS4 as well, so as long as you have the right type of TV you can enable this without necessarily needing to own a PS4 Pro.

Make Sure You Have Enough Free Disk Space

HOW TO GET BETTER GRAPHICS ON PS4!

One of the most common causes of poor PS4 performance is running critically low on disk space. With the size of modern games, plus video recordings you’ve saved, it’s easy to fill up your available space and not even realize it.

To see what’s taking up space on your PS4, head to Settings > Storage > System Storage and you’ll see a bar broken down by category. Chances are that games are the biggest space hogs. Select Applications to show the list of what’s installed.

Next, it makes sense to hit Options and choose Sort by > Size so you can deal with the low-hanging fruit first. Choose Delete from the options menu, then check all the games you want to erase. Once you confirm, your system will take a moment to delete the selected data.

Deleting a PS4 game’s data will not delete your save data for that title, as those are saved separately. However, if you want to play the game again, you’ll need to reinstall it from the PlayStation Store , as well as re-download the latest updates.

Once you’re done, back out to the main Storage menu to see how much space you’ve gained. Feel free to delete the other types of data, like old videos from your Capture Gallery, though they probably aren’t large enough to make a big difference.

Ideally, you should keep a minimum of 50GB free, though to keep your PS4 running well, it’s better to have something like 100GB free if you can manage it. Take a look at how to add an external drive to your PS4 if you need a lot more space.

How Good Is The Ps4 Gpu

On paper, the graphics processing unit in the PS4 is 50% more powerful than the one in the Xbox One. In some ways, the Xbox Ones slightly faster GPU clock speed helps to make up for some of the disparity, but in reality, the PS4s 50 percent larger compute unit count represents a significant advantage for the Sony camp. Games on the PS4 have far higher graphical processing power available, which is evident in real-world comparisons of the two systems. Despite the fact that both GPUs are equal in terms of clock speeds and core counts, there are some differences. In addition to OpenGL 4.3, OpenCL 1.2, and Direct3D 11.2 at the highest quality, they both use the Graphics Core Next architecture.

    Shadow Of The Colossus Remake

BluePoint has been remastering games, including Shadow of the Colossus for PS3, for years but this full-on remake of the PS2 classic shows off their abilities in a whole new way. The original game was clearly pushing the PS2 to its absolute limits. As good as it looked for the time, there were still washed-out textures, very inconsistent frame rates, and hazy draw distances to just get the game running. This remake feels like what that game wanted to be. It doesnt sacrifice any of the tone or sense of atmosphere the original was going for, but enhances it with graphics that do that world justice.

Aside from the world, it is the titular 16 colossi that define Shadow of the Colossus Remake. Every one of these creatures, mostly massive but some smaller, have such distinct and palpable personalities. Maintaining that is vital to the games themes, and it would be easy to lose in a remake, but the extra detail only makes your quest to hunt them down even more conflicted and tragic. Scaling a beast who is only trying to defend itself, climbing up its fur and watching the black blood spew out, or hanging on for dear life to ones wing as it flies, is a heart-pounding sight. But it is also the quiet moments roaming through the forbidden land on horseback that can take your breath away.
