Playstation 5 Price: Cheaper Digital Edition
Unlike the approach taken by Microsoft with the Xbox Series X and Series S, the full-fat, disc-playing PlayStation 5 and the more affordable, disc-less PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will have performance parity, with the optical drive the only difference between the two.
We predicted that the PS5 Digital Edition would dip below the magic £400 barrier, while the version with the disc drive might be more like £499 , and Sony has actually trumped our expectations in the UK at least.
The most telling piece of news we’d had in the run-up to launch was the PlayStation 5 product page leak on Amazon France, spotted by , which stated that the PlayStation 5 would be 500 euros with the PS5 Digital Edition at 400. That turned out to be right on the money .
More recently, the PS5 Digital Edition seems to have mysteriously shed some weight . Eagle-eyed gamers claim that the latest version is 300g lighter than the launch model. It doesn’t look like Sony has changed the design, size or contents, so the theory is that the newer model is made using lighter materials.

You Can Now Preorder A Ps5 At Smyths But Only In
Youll have to venture out
Despite the global PS5 restock shortage, toy superstore Smyths is letting UK customers pre-order Sonys next-gen console if they do so in-store.
The retailer shared a clarifying that both the standard and Digital Edition of the PS5 are now available to pre-order if customers hand over a deposit.
To clarify, this doesnt mean you can pre-order a PS5 online and pick up the console in-store, rather that you can now go into your local Smyths outlet, pay a deposit, and wait to be informed when to collect your new PS5.

As for when Smyths will receive new PS5s and therefore when those that do pre-order the console in-store can expect to collect one the jury is out. PS5 stock continues to remain scarce throughout the UK, with stock drops happening intermittently every few weeks.

The toy retailer did benefit from a brief PS5 restock on August 3, though as you’d expect, these sold out pretty fast. Both the standard and Digital Edition PS5 consoles were available, along with the new Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart bundle.

You sure can! The overwhelming majority of the PS4 games you own are playable on the PS5. Youll be able to download any games you bought through the PlayStation store on your PS4 and play them on the next-gen console.
If youve got the disc edition of the PS5, youll also be able to insert your PS4 discs into it and play them that way, too. Obviously, because theres no physical disc slot on the digital edition of the console, you wont be able to play any PS4 discs you own. With lockdown easing in the UK, you may be hoping to have a better chance of nabbing a PS5 from a physical store. Unfortunately, that doesnt seem to be the case.
While retailers such as GAME, John Lewis and ASDA have reopened their stores, the console hasnt yet being sold in-store.
That might now be changing as a poster was recently seen in a Smyths Toys store promoting the fact that the PS5 console can now be pre-ordered in the physical store.

Some retailers, such as Argos, are also making the console available via Click and Collect so you can order online and collect it from your local store. There do seem to be regional variations, though, so Click and Collect may not be an option for all retailers or stores. We suggest checking with your local store for details on how it is working in your area.

When Will It Be Easy To Buy A Ps5
That’s an extremely difficult question to answer, but one that’s on everyone’s lips. In 2020, 4.5 million PS5 consoles were shipped worldwide, Sony said, putting it inline with the PS4 launch numbers. Sony’s short-term goal for PS5 is 14.8 million consoles by the end of its second year, and it looks like it could make it, with semiconductor procurement ramping up to meet the massive demand for PS5. Microsoft is facing similar shortages of the Xbox Series X, although it expects the shortages to peter off by the beginning of the second quarter of this year, and in fact Microsoft has already seen a bump in sales as its consoles become more prevalent .

Ps5 Restock Latest News And Rumors
Jake Randall, a YouTuber and reliable stock tracker, was tipping Target for a restock this week. This proven to be a very good call as the retailer restocked the console earlier today . Unfortunately, the console is now sold out once again.
A GameStop PS5 restock was also being tipped for this week. This information came from a slightly dubious Reddit source, but the user in question did provide some evidence to back up their claims. It’s worth keeping a close eye on GameStop just in case this untested source proves to be legitimate but at this point in the week, it’s looking less likely.
Elsewhere, there is the possibility that Best Buy could restock soon as it hasn’t restocked in more than a month, but nothing is confirmed yet. Amazon could also drop again although the retailer did restock last week so another restock so soon afterward is unlikely.
In frustrating restock-related news, Sony has confirmed that supply of the PS5 isn’t expected to get any better this year. This would mean restock shortages continuing into 2022. Fear not, however, we’ll be here every day tracking restocks until the console is available without issue.

Black Friday Ps5 Restocks
Walmart will have the PS5 in stock starting November 22 of Black Friday week. The console will only be available to purchase online, and supply is unsurprisingly limited. Like other restocks, we’d expect Walmart to sell out quickly, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Walmart release stock in waves throughout the week. GameStop will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock at select stores on Thanksgiving. We’re still waiting on ads from other retailers, but we anticipate that more retailers will have the PS5 and PS5 Digital in stock for Black Friday.
Keep in mind there’s also the chance that PS5 restocks will be limited to paid members at select retailers in the coming weeks.
Best Buy recently launched a $200/year membership called Totaltech, and select restocks have been limited to members. Walmart has done the same for its $98/year membership. Likewise, GameStop has made certain restocks only available to PowerUp Rewards Pro members. And, of course, Amazon could lock PS5s behind its Prime membership. Meanwhile, retailers like Costco and Sam’s Club–which require memberships to shop–have always required memberships for PS5 restocks.

After much waiting, Sony announced the price and release date of the PS5 during its 16th September showcase. The Japanese giant’s 40-minute digital event featured “a look at some of the great games coming to the PS5 at launch “.
The real draw, however, was the promise of the price finally being revealed. Sony didn’t disappoint, with the PS5 Digital and PS5 prices set at £360 and £450 . That came as a pleasant surprise to those who’d expected the PS5 to be priced much higher than the rival Xbox Series X.
So how does the PS5’s price compare to that of its predecessors?
Both the original PlayStation and PS2 launched at £299 in 1994 and 2000 respectively. The PS3 was quite the step up in 2006, with the entry-level 20GB model starting at £425 although that was more or less in line with inflation with regard to the original PlayStation, and there were also the significant hardware upgrades to factor in, not least of all being the Blu-ray optical drive.
Nonetheless, the PS3 was initially criticised partly for its seemingly high price. The 60GB model’s $599 price tag took particularly heavy flack. By the arrival of the PS3 Slim in 2009, though, all seemed to have been forgiven.
The bigger public surprise was saved for the 2013 PS4 launch, however, when the PlayStation price dropped down to £350 and heralded the arrival of one of the best-selling games consoles of all time.

As of this article’s writing, visitors to Best Buy’s website are being greeted with the message “we’re sorry, something went wrong.” Some users have reported that the website crashed as they tried to preorder their PS5.

The PS5 includes all the basic things you need to get started . However, you might want to consider picking up additional accessories to ensure you get the most out of your brand-new console.
First, theres the controller. Every new PS5 includes one DualSense controller. But there are a few benefits to owning at least one additional controller, such as if you plan to play local co-op games with a friend or family member. PlayStation 5 is here again. On Thursday at 12pm noon, the disc-equipped Rs. 49,990 PS5 will go up for sale a third time in India, just 10 days on from the previous round. It’s essentially the same restock divided into two lots. There’s no word on the PS5 Digital Edition though, which I’m assuming was all sold out last week. All of Amazon, Croma, Flipkart, Games The Shop, Prepaid Gamer Card, Reliance Digital, Sony Center, and Vijay Sales will have the PlayStation 5 back in stock in India. Sony is also offering existing PlayStation customers the chance to preorder a PS5 directly from the company. “There will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for pre-order, so we will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to pre-order one from PlayStation,” the company explains on its website. Sign Up For Retailer Alerts
I put this one last because it’s not the most reliable . But if you do sign up at places like GameStop or Walmart, you will occasionally get an email letting you know ahead of time when they’re going to have another restock.
The same thing holds true for certain retailer Twitter accounts. GameStop’s official Twitter has been really great at giving you a heads-up ahead of a bundle restock, and Walmart, too, has tweeted out upcoming availability.

If you’ve seen something you like and are hoping to secure a PS5 console with the next GAME restock then there’s a few things you need to know.
Firstly, GAME PS5 restocks typically drop between 9am and 11am – so that’s the time you’ll need to set your alarms for next Tuesday.
Also, with past restocks PlayStation 5 stock hunters have had success by deploying a number of tricks.
GAME has a range of PS5 purchase options listed on its site, with the cheapest the PS5 Digital Edition. This console is priced at £359.99, and as the name suggests this version of the PS5 system can only play digital games. So if you’re buying this console for someone as a present don’t purchase any disc games as they won’t be able to use it.
When GAME gets PS5 restocks they also sell the PS5 Disc console on its own. This PlayStation 5 system is priced at £449.99 – but one important thing to point out is both the standalone PS5 Disc and Digital consoles tend to sell out the fastest. So you may have more joy purchasing one of the many PS5 bundles GAME lists online.
