The Psn Status Page Indicates The Problem Started On Friday And Persisted Overnight
It seems to be the week for gaming outages.
Sonys PlayStation Network suffered an outage starting Friday night, and it appears to have persisted into Saturday morning. The PSN outage comes after Microsofts Xbox Live service went down for several hours on February 25th.
According to an update on the PSN status website, the issue affects gaming and social activities on the PS Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5.
You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. Were working to resolve the issues as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience, reads a message on the status page.
The update is dated 6:33pm on February 26th, although it doesnt indicate what timezone the date is in.
According to Engadget, the outage impacted some games, while others remained accessible. For example, PlayStation owners could play Fortnite, but not Minecraft and .
Although DownDetector.ca indicates the problem is improving, if youre still having issues, keep an eye on Sonys status page for updates.

Sony PlayStation reported outages in its network early on Wednesday morning, sparking a social media panic among gamers.
The outage affected the PS Store, PS Now cloud gaming services, and games that rely on a network connection.
The problems started at around 8:30 a.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, according to the PlayStation status page.
The outage isnt affecting everyone, as gamers based in the Midwestern United States and Canada appear to have no difficult accessing their systems while users in New York are reporting error messages, according to The Verge.

The Future Of State Of Play
First and foremost, Sony needs to decide what State of Play is. The inconsistent hype and release schedule, and erratic application of the banner to various videos and not others, seems to betray the fact that Sony doesnt know exactly what to do with it. As we talked about in another Daily Reaction article, Sony has lost a lot of that relatable voice, not allowing actual people and figureheads within the company to be mouthpieces. Were left with the occasional brash quote from Jim Ryan and cold press release-style information drops. Long gone are the days of Adam Boyes, Shuhei Yoshida, Gio Corsi, Shawn Layden, and others like them taking the stage on various platforms to be the faces of PlayStation by the players for the players. Right now, PlayStation feels like a cold corporate wall more than it has in recent memory.
State of Play perhaps could have been the compromise, but Sony doesnt seem to know quite how to apply that moniker to its announcements in a way that can get people excited about it. Is it a bunch of game announcements? Is it a deep dive? Why not apply it to some of the PS5 reveal information drops, when it applies for others? Its confusing to say the least, and despite starting off as a near clone of Nintendo Directs, its failed to generate near the amount of hype that its inspiration does for Nintendo. Even Sony is seemingly finished hyping them up, burying the latest State of Play under the PS Plus announcement. No attention. No warning. No fanfare.

The State Of Playstation State Of Play
Since their introduction in early 2019, there have only been nine total State of Play broadcasts. Thats nine over the course of nearly two years. The first four featured about 20 minutes each of game announcements, peppering in a little something for everyone. After the fourth one in December 2019, it was more than five months before we got the next one, but the format had changed dramatically. Instead of showcasing a bunch of titles and announcements, this State of Play was a deep dive into Ghost of Tsushimas gameplay.
That deep dive formatand letting fans know what to expect from itmust have worked, because it became the most watched State of Play broadcast at that point, surpassing all four of 2019s videos. Sony then opted to use the format and follow it up with another PlayStation exclusive deep dive less than two weeks later, this time into The Last of Us Part II.

They’re yours to keep and play for as long as you’re a PlayStation Plus member. PS Plus members also get extra discounts during some of the regular sales on the PlayStation Store throughout the year. Finally, PS5 owners also get access to the PlayStation Plus Collection, a treasure trove of games that include of some of the best games of the PS4 generation. If you play PlayStation regularly, a PS Plus membership pays for itself in basically no time.

While most of PlayStation Network’s content revolves around video games, Sony offers other types of content on it, too.
PlayStation Music, which is now powered by Spotify, lets you enjoy Spotify’s extensive music catalog on your PS4. You can open the app to enjoy music through your TV, or even use the Quick Menu to listen while you play. Spotify Premium isn’t required, so it’s a handy feature if you don’t like a game’s built-in music.
PlayStation Video, meanwhile, is a digital video service similar to iTunes, Google TV, or Amazon’s Prime Video. You can rent or buy movies and TV shows to watch on your PlayStation console or mobile device.
