Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Which Console Should You Buy

Xbox One Vs PS4! Which Is Better In 2019?

So, PS4 vs Xbox One. Which console wins? It can be argued by many that if the console war between the PS4 and the Xbox One were based on metrics, the PS4 has ultimately won the war.

Although the Xbox One had a more powerful console with its Xbox One X compared to the PS4 Pro, and its Xbox Game Pass is more accessible and has more incredible games compared to the PSNow, the PS4 has a lot more exclusives that are superior in every way imaginable.

Not to mention the PS4 sold over 61 million units more than the Xbox One.

In less than a month, the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, the new consoles pushed by Sony and Microsoft, will hit shelves all around the world.

Both of these consoles are highly anticipated and many people are already calling which is going to win the next console war before it has already begun. In truth, only time will tell.

But, if were going to base it on history, Sony will have a clear advantage.

However, the console war is not always adherent to history. Many things can change in one generation and the Xbox Series X, alongside its incredible features, is already shaping up to be an incredible entry to the ninth generation of video game consoles.

This doesnt mean Sonys PS5 is backing down, though. The best thing to do is to try the consoles out for yourselves.

Xbox One X: Bigger Improvement Over The Xbox One

The Xbox One X is the most powerful console of its generation. The base PS4 was more powerful than the original Xbox, which makes the Xbox One X a bigger improvement over its predecessor.

There were more games on the Xbox One X that ran poorly on the base console than on Sony’s end. Perhaps if people knew the iteration was coming they would not have purchased the base model in the first place.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X Specs

The big difference between the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro? The specs.

Get ready for some letter spaghetti here…

Sony’s PS4 Pro features an awesomely-named eight-core x86-64 AMD “Jaguar” CPU with a 4.2 teraflops AMD Radeon-based graphics card, 8GB GDDR5 RAM and 1TB storage.

That’s quite the graphics and speed upgrade for the PS4 Pro compared to the standard PS4, making it more powerful and able to offer much better visuals.

It’ll be capable of supporting 4K output for streaming services like Amazon and Netflix, but also native 4K gaming and 4K upscaling for full HD titles – though it will only be capable of pushing Native 4K for some games.

Sadly, it lacks a 4K Blu-Ray player, so you’ll have to rely on streaming services for TV and movie content in glorious 4K resolutions.

The Xbox One X, on the other hand, is slightly more powerful.

Boasting a 2.3 GHz, 8 core CPU, 6 teraflops AMD Polaris architecture and 12GB GDDR5 RAM, the Xbox One X has a better and faster CPU/GPU combo compared to the PS4 Pro.

Pro Ps: Playstation Gives You More Granular Control Over Data

Its baffling that this is something worth celebrating on a gaming console. Believe it or not, but only Sony lets users get a clear picture of what is taking up space on their hard drives. Obviously, both machines give you some sense of how much space you have available, but only PlayStation surfaces that data in a clear list of applications. Thats a hugely practical feature! If you need to clear out space for a brand new game, its way easier to delete one massive install than a batch of smaller ones. On Xbox One you need to click each game and individually check how much space they are using its a chore. Its not a sexy feature, its a meat and potatoes one something you would expect to have.

Is One Refurbished Console Better Than The Other

PS4 vs Xbox One

The truth is, that neither of these consoles really outclasses the other, at least not in terms of specs. It was a very different story back in the days of the Xbox 360 vs. the PS3, where the PlayStation offered free online play whereas the Xbox had a better overall online ecosystem . If you were a gamer back then, you may also remember that the PS3 was able to play Blu-ray Discs, while the Xbox 360 wasnt. Both the PS4 and Xbox One can play Blu-ray movies, in case you were wondering.

But the truth is that now the Xbox and PlayStation are very evenly matched, and this is a good thing, because there was never any need for a dispute among which console was better. It was from the beginning, and still is now, a matter of preference.

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Controllers

In our opinion, the Xbox 360 controller was the best of its generation, and Microsoft managed to make a number of improvements on its Xbox One equivalent.

The headline feature has to be refined vibration control, with extra rumble motors for the left and right triggers providing fingertip feedback linked to in-game actions, such as pulling a trigger or squeezing the accelerator. It really works and gives you useful feedback rather than just fairground-esque effects.

The rest of the controller is great, especially the improved D-pad, although the redesigned shoulder buttons and slightly smaller analogue sticks aren’t to everyone’s taste.

The PS4 controller, DualShock 4, has certainly come on in leaps and bounds from its predecessor. It’s more comfortable to hold, the sticks are much improved with greater resistance and precision, plus the triggers feel more responsive than the spongy messes on the DualShock 3.

The stand out feature on the PS4 pad is the small touchpad. This allows for touch controls in games, swipes and the like, plus easier navigation when using a cursor . The whole pad also acts like a button and can be clicked in four different directions. A light bar on the back lets the PS4 camera detect multiple controllers too.

It’s partly down to what you’re used to, but the Xbox One controller has the edge for us with a proven design and those new rumble motors.

The Xbox One is updated fast and furious. When the console first launched it was a mess. Applications crashed regularly and it was riddled with options that were only accessible through voice command. Within a short window, things were largely fixed. Thats the story of the Xbox Ones user interface: Microsoft fixes problems quickly. In the relatively few years the console has been available, the company has already replaced the UI whole cloth and are already planning another substantial expansion. Remember, this is to compliment near-monthly updates. They also go one step further with an opt-in preview program that lets user have permanent access to a beta version of upcoming revisions.

Do The Ps4 And Xbox One Support Vr

If youre looking to break into the world of VR with your console, theres only one choice: PS4. PlayStation VR is the only headset currently compatible with a console, and its only supported by the PS4.

Unfortunately, theres no way to use a VR headset with the Xbox, so that kind of takes them out of the competition by default. PSVR is one of the cheapest ways to get into virtual reality, and if thats your main interest this console generation, then go for the PS4.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Is Ps4 Or Xbox More Powerful

  • The Xbox One X is the most powerful machine, beating out the PS4 Pro

PS4 and Xbox One multiply the power of Xbox 360 and PS3. More importantly, they’re built with smarter internal designs, learning from some of the mistakes of last-generation consoles.

Chip manufacturer AMD is behind most of these upgrades. Both the original Xbox One and the Xbox One S have a custom, 1.75GHz AMD 8-core CPU, while the Xbox One X bumps that up to a 2.3GHz 8-core chip.

The base PS4 CPU remained clocked at 1.6GHz and contains a similar custom AMD 8-core CPU with x86 based architecture, while the PS4 Pro bumps that clock speed up to 2.13GHz.

The original PS4 boasts a 1.84 teraflop GPU that’s based on AMD’s Radeon technology. Meanwhile the original Xbox One graphics chip, also with an AMD Radeon GPU, had a pipeline for 1.31 teraflops, although this increased to 1.4 teraflops with the Xbox One S and to a whopping 6.0 teraflops on the Xbox One X.

The PS4 Pro, meanwhile, has a GPU with a considerably increased 4.2 teraflops of graphical horsepower.

When it came to the original consoles, the PS4 won out in terms of raw power, although the Xbox One S closed the gap considerably.

Microsoft, with the release of the Xbox One X took the title of “most powerful console” from Sony.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X Games

Both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro still play all the games available on the PS4 and Xbox One. The idea is that they’re both an iterative step along the console timeline, so all your existing games will be compatible if you choose to upgrade, and anyone who’s looking to buy the Xbox One X or PS4 Pro will still be able to catch up on the existing library of games.

You’ll also be able to play multiplayer with Xbox One gamers if you’re on the Xbox One X and PS4 players if you’re on the PS4 Pro.

The only difference for Xbox One X owners is that you’ll be able to utilise the HDR functionality on games that support it such as Gears of War 5and Forza Horizon 4 if you’ve got an HDR TV.

Some of the best exclusive games for the Xbox One X include Sea of Thieves, Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 7, and Cuphead.

These games will have a little sticker on the case, or will say in the description that says “enhanced for Xbox One X with 4K HDR”. But most of the most recently released games and the vast majority of future games will be optimised for 4K gaming.

If you’ve got the PS4 Pro, there are a few key differences for games. They include higher and more stable frame rates.

There is one caveat to that though, in that Sony has admitted the “majority” of PS4 Pro games will be upscaled to 4K rather than natively.

However, there are plenty of games getting the 4K and HDR treatment, with over 40 of them being patched at launch.

Xbox ONE vs PS4, Which is Better? The Ultimate Debate ...

While the PS4 Slim has a slight edge over the Xbox One S, Microsoft’s premium version of its console pulls ahead when it comes to resolution and textures.

The Xbox One X features a processor with eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz, 12 GB of RAM, and a GPU that’s comparable to some upper-midrange to high-end PC graphics cards. The PS4 Pro sports an eight-core processor clocked at 2.1 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, and a slightly less powerful GPU.

The Xbox One X can play many games in real 4K, while the PS4 Pro’s 4K is often upscaled.

As with the base models, the differences between the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are minor. Games look and run great on either system. However, if you’re looking for the best console graphics possible or true 4K, you might be better served by the Xbox One X.

  • Games on the original PS4 tend to run at higher resolutions than their Xbox One S counterparts.

While the Xbox One X appears to have the edge over the PS4 Pro, it’s a different story when it comes to the Xbox One S and PS4.

A gameplay video on YouTube of GTA 5 pans between the two next-gen versions of the game with a definitive answer. The base PS4 GPU is able to handle more foliage in environments than the base Xbox One.

Yes, you literally have to get into the weeds to see the differences, though both the PS4 and Xbox editions of GTA 5 look stellar compared to their last-gen counterparts.

In the Metal Gear Solid 5 comparison, there’s slightly more clarity to the PS4 version. Specifically, distant textures and moving objects appear softer among the otherwise identical Xbox One visuals.

It’s a trend we’re seeing from PS4 games that achieve a 1080p resolution at 30 or 60 frames per second, when their Xbox One counterparts run at 720p or 900p at 30 or 60 fps.

This is a trend that’s continuing today, with video analysis, such as the one below, indicating that Battlefield 1 runs at a consistently higher resolution on the PS4 than the Xbox One, with both consoles hitting the same variable 60 fps frame rate.

It’s a similar story when it comes to Titanfall 2, which likewise runs at a lower resolution on the Xbox One.

Overall, the PS4 appears to have the edge on the Xbox One, but both are left in the dust by their more powerful younger siblings.

Which Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox Performance Winner Xbox One X

Whether we like to admit it or not, folk love their games to look the dogs bollocks. The PS4 and Xbox One are pretty much equal in terms of horsepower if youre comparing games side-by-side, but its when you consider the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X that things really start to make a difference.

Honestly, if youre making your purchase decision based on how games look on the standard PS4 and Xbox One, then you should perhaps look elsewhere. There really isnt a substantial difference to give one machine the edge over the other. Xbox One X is on paper the more powerful console, but PS4 Pro is still a powerhouse capable of offering some gorgeous 4K resolution and frame rate enhancements.

However, if youre factoring in the Xbox One S too, then you have the added advantage of a base Xbox console with 4K capabilities for video playback, as well as upscaling games to 4K. The standard PS4/PS4 Slim does not do this.

Still, PS4 Slim looks way prettier than the Xbox One S, which counts for something, right? Right??
