Will Ps Vr2 Have Eye
Yes, the PS VR2 will have eye-tracking thanks to IR cameras inside of the headset.
While eye-tracking sounds a little freaky initially, the term eye-tracking is simply a way for the PS VR2 to improve the graphics in the exact places your eyes are looking at. This type of rendering is called foveated rendering and means that the PS5 will render only the center of your vision in the highest resolution. Sony confirmed at CES 2022 that the PS VR2 will have both eye-tracking and foveated rendering support
Eye-tracking enables higher resolution where you’re looking and better performance all-around.
Everything in your peripheral vision will feature a lower resolution and help increase the performance of VR games by over 60% in many situations. In the video below, you can see an example from Nvidia that showcases different ways of implementing foveated rendering with eye-tracking.
Remember that viewing something like this on a 2D monitor doesn’t give the full effect, as your eyes won’t be able to see the lower-resolution edges the same way in VR space since the system will automatically move the center-point based on your eyes.
Eye-tracking also enables new methods of interacting with the virtual world and other players in virtual worlds. Sony said its eye-tracking technology could be used to help players better select objects or menus in VR, and there’s nothing quite like making actual eye contact with someone to make a situation feel more real.
Will I Be Able To Play Native Ps5 Vr Games On The Psvr Headset
While some sites suggest that youll be able to play upcoming VR titles designed for the PS5 platform using the first-gen headset, thats likely not the case. Sony has confirmed the existence of a new VR headset tailored for the PS5, unofficially dubbed PSVR 2, that will likely be the only headset supported by the majority of new titles going forward.
Pavlov: Shack developer , suggesting that the original headset doesnt have the fidelity required for its upcoming title, and given the wildly different controls on offer compared to the first-gen PSVR headset, we imagine most other developers will follow suit.
Does My Psvr Headset Work On Ps5
Youve managed to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 congratulations and now youre wondering if you can use it with your PSVR headset. Youre not alone, especially considering theres no plug for the PlayStation Camera on Sonys latest console, but the good news is that it is possible to use your PlayStation VR headset on PS5.
However, its not as straightforward as you might imagine, with the need for a specific adapter to make the accessory work as designed. Fret not we outline all you need to know about using PSVR on PS5 right here.

Opinion: Psvr 2 Finally Introduces A Current
Paul writes The original PSVR was a mess, but an impressive mess. It felt like there was no way virtual reality should work on an underpowered PS4 and, in a way, it didnt every game looked like it was covered in vaseline, and there were so many wires coming out of it that it felt like you were being hooked up to a bacta tank.
But Sony making that thing work as well as it did considering the technological drawbacks was a true achievement, and considering that the PS5 was presumably built with eventual VR functionality in mind, things should be much smoother with the PSVR 2. Sony has a habit of dropping its peripherals and accessories almost as quickly as it launches them, and while the PSVR had a better shelf life than most, it still never really competed with the heavy-hitters in the PC space. Hopefully, with the added technical power of the PS5, the PSVR 2 sticks around for a lot longer.
What Are The New Psvr 2 Controllers
The one aspect of the PSVR 2 that we are confident of is the new controllers. Sony has focused a lot of their release information on this new controller design . The unique orb shape allows for a far more natural grip than the old Move controllers, aiding immersion. The shape also moves the trigger under the controller, which feels more natural to hold. The layout is most interesting because the four action buttons are divided over the two handsets, making it likely that the controllers will need to be used as a pair.
As expected, the new controllers will include many features also integrated into the PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers. With adaptive triggers with varying resistances and haptic feedback that uses targeted rumbling, these new controllers may be the most immersive in VR gaming to date.
They also integrate better tracking than their predecessors. The next-generation VR headset will now have the ability to track these controllers, and the controllers themselves will track where your fingers are positioned on them. This will allow all new methods of control in PlayStation VR and should be able to interpret your movements far more accurately than the current system, which solely relies on tracking from the camera and has a tendency to desync.

Psvr Will Work With The Ps5 But You’ll Need A Ps4 Camera
You’ll also need a DualShock 4 controller.
Sony says that its PlayStation VR headset will work with the upcoming PlayStation 5, including all of its PlayStation 4 titles. The only catch is that you’ll need to keep some of your PS4 hardware.
Keep your gear On a new support page, the company explains that the PS5’s camera will not work with PSVR, and neither will the new DualSense controller. If you want to play VR games with the Move controllers you need to keep your old camera. Sony says a camera adapter is being made available for free that will allow you to connect the PS4 camera. If you want to use a standard controller with the headset, you’ll need a DualShock 4.
This all means that if you want to play PSVR on your new PS5 and don’t already have the hardware, you’ll need to pick up a PS4 DualShock controller and a PS4 camera. It’s weird that the newer accessories won’t work, but it’s better than nothing.
There aren’t a lot of games available for PSVR even though the system has been well received by owners. Sony hasn’t invested in VR like Oculus has on PlayStation it’s mostly niche and complementary to the traditional gaming experience. There’s a chicken and egg problem here game developers likely don’t want to invest in a technology that not many consumers own when they can just make a standard game and know the market will be large.
The PlayStation 5 will be available on November 12.

The Headset Design: Vibrations Eye Tracking Moving Lenses
Even if Sony’s PSVR 2 headset looks bulky in the photos, it could end up being a lot more comfortable than the Quest 2. An adjustable headband, similar to the PSVR’s original design, means it’ll tighten around the head like a visor instead of using an elastic strap to squeeze your face. Sony promises adjustable lens distance for different eyes and faces, too, like the original PSVR had. That type of fit worked really well for my glasses.
The headset supports headphones with a standard headphone jack, and has one cable that tethers to the PS5 via USB-C, via a jack that seems to come out of one side of the headband. That’s a lot fewer wires than the crazy breakout box needed for the original PSVR.
Built-in eye tracking promises to deliver better graphics, and possibly allow eye control and eye contact in VR games. Eye tracking isn’t common in consumer VR headsets yet, but the technology should be arriving on other mainstream headsets, including Meta’s next VR device and possibly Apple’s as well.
The headset’s four tracking cameras will allow movement in VR to be tracked without using a TV-connected camera bar. The tracking should work in a similar way to other VR headsets. It’s possible that the cameras could allow some pass-through mixed reality, too, blending VR with what the cameras see onto the headset’s display.

Playstation Vr Aim Controller
The Aim Controller is an optional, abstractly-shaped light gun peripheral that was bundled with Farpoint and also sold separately for US$59.99. It is also compatible with a limited selection of VR shooter games, and mimics the feel of a gun more closely than a traditional gamepad. It has all the functions of a Dualshock controller, and, unlike the PS3-era Sharp Shooter accessory, does not require a PlayStation Move controller to be slotted in. It was praised by IGN as “a must-have for VR shooter fans on PlayStation”.

So What Does That Mean
If and its a big if Sony is indeed coming up with a new PSVR with better tracking, it would dramatically change the kind of experiences possible with the hardware.
Currently, PSVR is tracked by a single camera plugged in to the PS4, which means it struggles to track you if you turn around. An improved version could lead to more room-scale experiences as seen on PC with the Vive or Oculus Rift.
If thats the case, then certain experiences may be off limits to first-generation PSVR owners. So perhaps the question shouldnt be will PSVR work on PS5 but will PSVR work well on PS5

The Ps5 Should Eventually Be A Vr Powerhouse
The PS5 seems ideally suited for VR, with spatial 3D audio and support for Unreal Engine 5, which will clearly be used for next-gen VR and AR. Unreal Engine 5 doesn’t arrive until late next year, though. And Sony’s plans for a new VR headset remain a mystery.
For now, if you’re interested in VR, it doesn’t seem like a good time to buy a PSVR unless you’re ready to live with a lot of limitations. If you’re using a PS4, maybe. But for PS5 owners, VR compatibility may be a lot less exciting than you were maybe expecting. Sony’s VR game library is impressive, but the PS5 isn’t ready yet to take VR to the next level.

Sony’s dive into virtual reality on the PlayStation 4 came at a time in 2016 when VR was making big splashes: The Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive and VR goggles on phones were everywhere. Even years later, PSVR is still a surprisingly capable platform full of good games, but Sony’s headset feels pretty old and clunky compared to more advanced PC and standalone options.
Sony may have a more advanced version of PlayStation VR that could emerge in another year or two, once the PS5 has had a chance to stand on its own for a while. The PS4 came out in 2013, but the PSVR didn’t emerge until three years later.
Right now, the existing PSVR headset will work with the PS5 and existing PS4 VR games should work. But you’ll need a lot of other gear to make it happen.

Well ahead of Sonys introduction of a next-generation console, likely to be called PlayStation 5, the companys lead system architect has confirmed that the current PlayStation VR headset will remain compatible with the new machine. The revelation came from , who has spearheaded development of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro for Sony, in an interview today with Wired.
At a time when Microsoft has refused to step into console VR and Nintendo has taken only tentative steps with the release of inexpensive cardboard Labo kits, Cerny described VR as very important to Sony, and confirmed that the current PSVR headset is compatible with the new console. He also said that the upcoming machine will feature an SSD for faster load times, AMD-developed raytracing graphics hardware, and a dramatically different custom 3D audio solution with presence that will sound best through headphones.
All signs point to a second-generation PSVR launching at a higher price than the current model, which can currently be had for $199. Between patents and component leaks, Sony appears ready to move to a wireless headset design with higher-resolution displays and new controllers, all requiring hardware that is unlikely to be cheap.
