First Free Play At Home Game Available Now On Ps4

As announced last week, Sony is bringing back its Play At Home initiative for a second year, as the world continues to grapple with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The platform holder has promised to expand the promotion this time, but its getting things started with Ratchet & Clank the extremely enjoyable Insomniac Games remake which first launched in 2016.

This is available to download now. To clarify: you dont need to be a PlayStation Plus member or PlayStation Now subscriber anyone with an active PlayStation Network account is eligible to add the game to their library. Moreover, once youve redeemed it, the game will be yours to keep forever your access wont be revoked.

An FPS great. With all-new textures and HDR lighting for modern consoles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered lets us experience the game again without suffering through horribly dated graphics.

The Witness

The Witness is a brain-melting puzzle game that takes place in a beautiful 3D world that can be roamed around in at your own pace just don’t expect anyone to hold your hand on this journey.

How Does Playstation Plus Compare To Competing Services

PlayStation Plus compares favourably against Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold service, coming in at $10 cheaper over the term of a year and offering more free games per month. That said, the Xbox Games With Gold program tends to offer more premium AAA titles in its monthly catalogue of free games, so there is a payoff to consider there. Nintendo, meanwhile, has yet to implement its online service for the Nintendo Switch, but it plans to offer basic online multiplayer along with a couple of free classic games every month at a budget price of $29.95 for a year. However, the depth of the service and the catalogue of available and upcoming titles is not comparable to the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One.

These free games do come with a few caveats, however. PlayStation Plus subscribers must ‘purchase’ a month’s selection of games before that month is up–if they don’t, they won’t be able to go back and download those games at a later time. ‘Purchasing’ in this case simply means loading up the PlayStation Store website, adding the free games to your cart, and checking out. It’ll cost you nothing, and you’ll then be able to download and play those games indefinitely so long as your maintain an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

It’s The First Month Of Playstation Plus Without Any Cross

Wave goodbye to February. March is almost here and that means another round of free games via Sony’s PlayStation Plus service. This month’s titles include two PlayStation 4 titles, two PlayStation 3 games, and two PS Vita games, but no cross-platform options among the bunch. Yes, March 2016 will be the first month in recent memory to include no cross-platform games.

Leave it to voters in Sony’s PlayStation Plus “Vote to Play” campaign to choose the bro-iest, explode-iest, mayhem-iest game to be added to the free March games. The winner of March’s vote is, of course, the infamous Broforce. If Sony’s going to focus on indie games for PlayStation Plus every month, at least let folk vote for which games they want.

For those who aren’t bros, Sony has plenty of other options in March. Here’s the full PlayStation Plus line-up:

Not too many household names in that list, though the more that know about Galak-Z the better! Odds are there will be a bit of disappointment among core PlayStation gamers. The lack of a big household name title again as well as the lack of cross-platform games this month will perhaps cause more vocal disappointment than ever. And that’s perhaps going to be magnified due to Microsoft’s doubling down on backwards compatibility for their Games with Gold.

Yes, Sony has confirmed PlayStation Plus will continue on the PlayStation 5 console as we saw in the PS4 era.
