A next-gen PlayStation console requires a truly advanced controller, right? Latest : Sony has increased the price of the PS5 Disc Edition and PS5 Digital Edition by £30. Although PS5 availability has somewhat improved, it’s still pretty difficult to buy a standalone PS5 console. You can currently pick up the PS5 disc console from Argos for £479.99. Thankfully, there are still some retailers offering PS5 bundles at their original price, this includes BoxEE, Scan, BT Shop, Currys, and Hughes. Game has already increased the price of their bundles.

In the US, there is currently no price increase. The PS5 Disc console with Horizon Forbidden West bundle is available at Walmart. customers can request an invite to purchase the Horizon Forbidden West disc bundle for $550. Ps5 Restock: Request Invitation At Amazon

PS5 restocks are still pretty sporadic.

Another PS5 bundle, the third this year, releases next week. This particular bundle comes with the most anticipated PlayStation game of 2022: God of War Ragnarok. The standard PS5 with a digital voucher for Ragnarok costs $560, while the PS5 Digital Bundle costs $460. You’re saving 10 bucks overall by purchasing the bundle versus buying each product separately. If you’re interested in picking up the bundle, Amazon is currently allowing customers to sign up for invites to buy the God of War bundle.

You’re still unlikely to find the PS5 on store shelves, and most major retailers are sold out of the PS5, but the situation is starting to mirror what we saw with the Xbox Series X. First, the consoles no longer sell out in minutes, and then they become readily available at at least one major retailer nearly all the time. We are cautiously optimistic that the concept of PS5 restocks may be a thing of the past before long.

Should I Buy The Ps5 Or Ps5 Digital Edition

There are two versions of Sony’s latest console: so how do you know whether to buy the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition? Well, there’s one major difference between the two – outside of the price.

The PS5 Digital Edition does not include a disc drive so no physical copies of games can be played on the console and you will have to buy all of your games digitally. All purchases have to be made through the official PSN Store. You will, however, still be able to play old PS4 games as long as you bought a digital copy. With that in mind, if you’ve fully embraced the digital revolution and are looking to save on the upfront cost of the console then the PS5 Digital Edition may be right for you.

For most, though, we’d suggest sticking with the standard PS5 as it has the added flexibility with the included disc drive. The other major sticking point with the PS5 Digital Edition is that Sony manufactures far fewer of them compared to the normal PS5. When retailers restock the consoles, then, you often have a considerably smaller chance of getting a Digital Edition – if they even have this version on sale in the first place.

Metal enclosures might look pretty, but they get dinged up over time. The soft touch enclosure on the T7 Shield is less prone to general wear and tear and it’s also easier to grip.

Sony’s Running Low On Ps5 Consoles

Recently, in its last earnings reports, Sony confirmed that it sold 3.9 million PS5 consoles in 2021, which was far less compared to the 4.5 units it sold the previous year. This is due to chip shortage problems Sonyand pretty much every big tech companyhas faced in the last couple of years, mostly due to the ongoing pandemic.

According to a report from Eurogamer, Sony’s chief financial officer, Hiroki Totoki, confirmed that the chip shortage will continue to affect PS5 sales during 2022. However, the company still expects to sell over 20 million units by next year.

“The ongoing chip shortages and logistics confusion will keep affecting PlayStation 5 production, and especially the second half of next fiscal year is hard to foresee,” he said. “But I want to keep the previously-held goal of selling 22.6m units next year unchanged as cutting it now would lower the motivation of the team.”

Playstation 5 Stock Shortage

Sony had planned on the production of 5 million PlayStation 5 games consoles by the end of March 2021. But as the popularity of gaming exploded during the pandemic, Sony doubled PlayStation production to meet 10 million units by the same date.

Sadly, it wasn’t enough. In May 2021, the company warned analysts that PlayStation 5 shortages would continue until 2022: “I dont think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldnt be able to catch up with demand,” said Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s Chief Financial Officer.

On 12th November 2021 the PS5’s first birthday Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan addressed historic demand for the PS5 in a PlayStation.Blog post. Ryan admitted that “inventory constraints remain a source of frustration for our customers” and said that Sony is “laser-focussed” on shipping as many console units as possible.

It all sounds very positive but the truth is, the company expects to produce one million fewer consoles 15 million, rather than 16 million in the financial year ending March 2022.

With the emergence of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, it seems that chip shortages are set to continue this year and possibly beyond.

In early 2022, Sony decided to keep manufacturing PS4 consoles. The company intends to make an extra one million PS4 machines to compensate for the lack of PS5 stock. It’s certainly one way to tackle the problem.
