What Is Better Ps4 Or Xbox 1

Should I Get An Xbox One Or Playstation 4

Xbox One vs PS4: Who Won This Generation?

At this point, the argument between whether PlayStation or Xbox is better is two decades old. Here, at the end of this console generation, we can look back and judge what the PS4 and Xbox Ones strengths and weaknesses are, but to a certain degree, it comes down to personal preference.

  • Until Dawn
  • Yakuza series

Xbox, on the other hand, has had a lackluster exclusive lineup this generation. Halo only received one title for the Xbox One, and besides Gears of War and Forza, there arent many unique titles for Microsofts console to get excited for.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One X

Both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One have a 4K output but thats not entirely the same as 4K resolution. The Xbox One X does best here, with more games hitting, or getting close to, the 3840p that actually constitutes 4K. The PS4 Pro has a wider range of resolutions but averages out around the 2440p mark. Realistically, though, you wont see a huge difference, especially with a 40-ish inch screen, no matter how much some technical breakdowns carefully explain how one number is bigger than the other. Larger resolutions often come at the expense of frame rates as well, which is why games often offer a resolution mode, which locks a 30FPS frame rate for 4K, or a performance mode that aims for 60FPS at a lowered resolution. HDR, or high dynamic range, on the other hand – which provides dynamic coloring, richer tones and crisper blacks – is largely the same across both machines. Plus, your TV will have a larger impact on how the HDR is displayed than a console.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Price Comparison

On release, the PS4 price was the more tempting deal: $399 for the console and DualShock 4 controller. The Xbox One was relatively expensive, at $499 for the system, Xbox One controller, and Kinect.

But now, after several price drops from both consoles , the two consoles are much more evenly matched. Typically we’ll see the PS4 priced at around $299/£249 and the Xbox One S at around £149/£199.

However, while Sonys continuing PS4 production into 2022, Microsoft has stopped production for the Xbox One range entirely. As such, anyone after Microsoft’s last-gen machine may have to pick up a used console. It’s one reason why PS4 and Xbox One prices seem to change by the week, with price drops and bundle deals coming and going faster than handheld PlayStation systems.

Add in special events, such as Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday, and dedicated storefront sales. While all of these bundles are great for consumers, it can be hard to keep up with the latest pricing info. So, in an effort to cut through the noise, here are the latest prices and bundles for each console.

Simplifying matters slightly, both Sony and Microsoft have discontinued their more powerful 4K-capable mid-gen upgrades, the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. This means new stock can be really quite hard to come by, so you might have to look for second-hand consoles.

If you want to dial back the cost of either console, it might be worth considering an Xbox One S and PS4 Slim.

Which Is Better: Xbox One Or Playstation 4

This simple guide will help you pick the perfect console.

If youre in the market for a new gaming system and just joining this console generation, you might be a little lost. At this point, there have been three main models of the PlayStation 4, and four of the Xbox One. Knowing which version of the console to get is almost as hard as picking which brand you want to go with. Thats where we come in. Here, we break down the differences between the PS4 and Xbox One, and help you decide which model of each console is best for you.

Xbox One S Vs Ps4 Pro Games

PS4 vs Xbox One: Which Console is better?
  • Both have excellent exclusives.
  • More games than ever before are now multi-platform.

Of course, graphics are only important if you want to play the games in the first place, and although both consoles have a number of excellent exclusives, there’s also a great deal of overlap in the games available.

Recently the Xbox One has seen some great exclusives come its way. Weve seen the Gears of War series make a fantastic comeback with Gears of War 4, and Forza Horizon 3 has delivered some fantastic arcade racing action.

Xbox is also the home of the Halo series, and while the games havent been quite the same since development duties passed from Bungie to 343 Industries, Halo 5 was still an excellent shooter in its own right.

A final point in Xboxs favor is that its backwards compatibility is currently in a far better state than the PS4. Although you cant play every Xbox 360 game that was ever released during the console’s 10-year lifespan, theres an ever-increasing list of 360 games that will work on the Xbox One S.

Meanwhile the PS4 has a number of excellent exclusives of its own. These range from Ratchet and Clank.

Where the PS4 is weaker in terms of exclusives is with its racing games. The Xbox One has several great entries in the Forza series, while the PS4 has had to make do with just a single racing title, Driveclub.

In terms of games with visual benefits, specific games have been upgraded for both systems to support HDR content, with PS4 Pro being the only one to benefit from higher resolutions at the time of writing. Weve compiled some specific games for each system below, including some of the things you can expect.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Price

Price has seen one of the largest changes in the last two years, with Microsoft working hard to update the Xbox One and make it more affordable. They dropped the Kinect, scaled back the price, and offered more bundles. As a result, the primary Xbox One and PS4 models can be found in bundles for $350 give or take $50 depending on the bundle in question. Both Xbox Live Gold and PS Plus cost a similar fee to purchase, too. Generally, cheaper Xbox bundles are easier to find, but the price race is essentially a tie these days.

Both consoles also have more expensive options with improved hardware and more storage, Xbox with the Elite and PS4 with a couple different model numbers. If you want upgrades, there are options both ways, including 500GB and 1TB storage choices notably, Xbox offers a hybrid SSD drive for its advanced model, but thats the main difference. All things have become largely equal here as well. If youre an old school gamer, take a look at our Dingoo a320 retro game emulator review for only $99.99.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: 4k Content

One of the greatest features that the Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and the PS4 Pro have in common is displaying 4K quality videos, though they do so in a different manner. All you need is to set your console resolution to 4K UHD and all the output from movies to games will be displayed in 4K resolution.

The Xbox One S and the Xbox One X are the very first consoles equipped with an Ultra-HD Blu-ray player. So if you want 4K DVD movies to watch at home, you know which consoles to get. Just keep in mind that you need a 4K TV or 4K Monitor or one of the best console gaming monitors to experience quality 4K resolution.

Moreover, if you have one of the best gaming monitors for PC, chances are you can also use this to play on either of these consoles as long as the input and output ports are compatible.

The PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S all supports 4K resolution but the PS4 Pro has to rely on streaming since this doesnt have a UHD Blu-ray player like the Xbox One X and Xbox One S. Netflix and Amazon Prime are among the popular places you could go to find 4K quality movies these days.

They Might Not Be Brand New But If You’re Hoping To Game On A Tighter Budget The Xbox One S And Ps4 Are Still Excellent Consoles

Xbox One Vs PS4! Which is the Best Console?

If you’re looking to buy a games console, you have more choice than ever. The next generation of games consoles has made a stylish entrance, with Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X proving that console gaming is one of the most popular pastimes on the planet.

Of course, you’ll generally have to pay more for the privilege of owning one, which begs the question: what about the less expensive options? Fortunately, neither Sony nor Microsoft is ready to give up on the PS4 or Xbox One just yet. Both consoles will still have access to the latest games for a little while longer, making them a great choice for the bargain savvy gamers out there.

And then there’s the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, supercharged versions of their respective base consoles that have upgraded capabilities, including 4K HDR playback. Though sadly, these superpowered consoles aren’t much cheaper than their next-gen counterparts. You might also want to game on the go: Nintendo’s Switch and Switch Lite are both extraordinarily popular and should not be overlooked.

In this article, however, well leave the flagship next-gen powerhouses, “Pro” and “X” machines and Nintendo Switch consoles to one side, and just stick to comparing the PS4 and Xbox One S. From specs and exclusive games to multiplayer services and, of course, the all-important subject of price we’ll pit both machines against one another in every conceivable way.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Accessories

Xboxs own accessories, like the Elite controller and Kinect 2, are top notch, but when you venture out to third-party offerings for headsets, controller products, etc., the advantage goes to Sony. Microsoft tends to heavily limit third party developers, which gives the PS4 the better accessory features and performance most of the time. The exception here is, of course, external hard drives, which the Xbox supports much more readily.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Graphics Comparison

In this section we’ll be comparing the graphical performance of the Xbox One S with the base PS4, as well as comparing the more powerful Xbox One X and PS4 Pro consoles.

FIFA 18

FIFA 18 does very well on the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X, with native 4K video output available on both. Despite the differences in the specs of the two machines, there isn’t too much to separate the two versions of the game.

Digital Foundry’s analysis of the two versions suggests that the only real difference is a slightly better draw distance for the grass on the Xbox One X version of the game.

We’d be wary about drawing too many conclusions about what this says about the relative capabilities of the two consoles. We’d say this is probably a matter of EA having not quite pushed the Xbox One X to the limits of what it’s capable of.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

It’s a completely different story when it comes to Middle Earth: Shadow of War.

Although the game doesn’t run at native 4K on either console, it runs at a slightly higher resolution of 1980p on the Xbox One X compared to the PS4 Pro’s 1620p.

Beyond resolution Digital Foundry notes that there are a number of other improvements present on the Xbox One X version of the game. This version has much better textures thanks to the improved memory bandwidth the hardware offers.

The overall result is an image that’s much clearer overall on Microsoft’s console.

Xbox Series X Vs Playstation 5

Before moving on to the features of the two consoles, it is worth remembering that since 2020 there has been a shortage of consoles and other electronics on the market. This is due to the lack of microcircuits used to create it. Manufacturers are not able to meet the demand of buyers, so sometimes the choice is limited by the fact that a certain console is not available.

In numbers, the PlayStation 5 is noticeably more popular than the Xbox rival. By the end of 2020, when both new consoles were launched, 4.5 million PS 5 and 2.4 million Xbox Series X / S had been sold .

Due to the lesser popularity of the Xbox, it is a little easier to find this console for sale.

The situation is the same among the previous generation consoles: the PlayStation 4 has bypassed a similar model, the Xbox One, in terms of the number of devices sold.

Ps4 Pro Vs Xbox One S Boost Mode Vs Ultra Hd Blu

PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One

Features-wise, the two are very similar, but theres one key differentiator that gives the Xbox One S a massive boost, and thats its Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Incredibly, despite owning the UHD Blu-ray standard, Sony has chosen not to include the technology in its flagship console.

4K streaming is supported on YouTube and Netflix for both consoles, with more services on the way.

When it first launched the PS4 Pro was only capable of improving visuals and performance on titles officially patched by developers. However, this all changed with the arrival of Boost Mode, a new feature introduced in the PS4s 4.50 firmware update.

When activated from the settings menu, this feature will improve performance of all PS4 titles, regardless if theyve been patched or not. Of course, the results are mixed.

Sony endeavors in providing smaller, unique gaming experiences to the PS4. As many as eight indie titles debuted during Sonys press conference at E3 2013. The Indie games that debuted for the PS4 included Transistor, the next game from Bastion developer Supergiant Games Klei Entertainments Dont Starve Tribute Games Mercenary Kings Octodad: Deadliest Catch from Young Horses, a studio comprised of DePaul University graduates and Switchblade Monkeys Secret Ponchos. Xbox One X Vs Playstation 4 Pro: Ports

The Xbox One and Xbox One S had plenty of ports, and the One X continues that tradition. Besides its power port, it offers three USB 3.0 , HDMI-in and out ports, IR out, S/PDIF and an Ethernet jack. As with the Xbox One S, there isn’t any direct input for Kinect. On the Xbox One S, it required an adapter, and that’s the case here as well.

The PS4 Pro has a pair of USB 3.0 ports on the front and another on the back. The back of the console is also where you’ll find the HDMI-out port, optical out port, Ethernet jack, auxiliary port and power port.

Winner: Xbox One X. While otherwise similar, the Xbox One X’s HDMI-out and HDMI-in ports let you use it to pass your cable box’s signal through your Xbox so you can watch TV on your game console.
