Playstation 5 Stock Update: Overview
Thanks to COVID-19 complications, semiconductor shortages and overwhelming demand, the PlayStation 5 has remained extremely sought after since release.
So, are stock shortages becoming more infrequent – and will the PlayStation 5 be more readily available heading into the holiday season? In short, yes – hopefully.
The latest word on stock shortages actually came straight from Sony, who noted in a call to investors in August 2021 that it should be able to produce 12 million PlayStation 5 units before the end of the current fiscal year – 31 March 2022.
This relates back to the semiconductor shortage that has plagued the industry since the pandemic began.
How quickly it can start delivering this new wave of consoles remains to be seen, of course, but the hope is that the worst of the shortages is now over.
In reality, seeing the PS5 in the wild will remain extremely unlikely for months to come. Xbox head Phil Spencer noted as much recently, stating that shortages of the Xbox Series X and Series would continue into the early part of 2022.
That means you’ll still have to be extremely vigilant for stock updates from the retailers outlined above. They may be more frequent nowadays, but stock is by no means flowing normally.
Ps5 Restock Looks ‘dire’ For April With A Long
Finding PS5 stock may only be harder through April and May 2021, according to the retailers who spoke to TechRadar on the condition of anonymity . They’re not seeing the inventory that hoped for.
Best Buy didn’t have a restock this week, a rare miss after opening up orders every single Friday for the last six weeks. And last Friday at Best Buy was a tell: it only had PS5 Disc consoles in stock, no PS5 Digital Edition. Walmart and Sony Direct have also been silent this week. If it’s becoming harder to find PS5 stock, we suggest grabbing the console when you can for its retail price.
While analysts predict that the semiconductor shortage will be solved by June or July , come Black Friday and Cyber Monday demand will be strong once again.
Longer-term, the fix may come in the form of new spending outside of Taipei and South Korea , and the United States government is pushing for $50 billion in new spending to boost chip production to do just that.

According to PS5 Stock Alert UK on Twitter, a good source of information that provides pre and post updates for those looking to prep for the next drop, Argos will be among the next UK stores to boast PS5 Stock. Recent activity suggests that the Argos PS5 restock will happen on April 12 however, the news comes with a warning that delays are possible, and console hunters might have to wait until April 15.
A recent message from PS5 Stock Alert suggests there is a glitch currently in place that allows a small group of customers to buy a PlayStation console today. But the full drop has not reportedly started yet, meaning fans will probably have to wait until between 3am and 8am BST on April 12. Very is another UK retailer expected to restock the PS5 in April, and this shipment could be ready to buy on Tuesday, April 12. Console hunters will need to make sure they are ready with their purchasing information at around 9am BST to have a shot at securing a next-gen console.
What Is The Ps5 Price
The PS5 price is $499 . That puts it at the same price point as the Xbox Series X, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise to many, seeing as it’s difficult to imagine the PS5 price exceeding $500 when it’s up against the affordable spread put out by Microsoft.
However, the cheaper PS5 Digital Edition price is $399.99 , which does flag some concerns considering the Xbox Series S’s $299 price tag. However, the PS5 Digital Edition will run the same specs as the fully-fledged console, further cementing its position in the market as a high value for money option.
That means bargain hunters can still experience everything the PS5 has to offer while foregoing the opportunity to play physical PS4 and PS5 games or save cash by buying in the second-hand market. It’s an excellent proposition that will certainly capture those going for sheer value for money at launch.

For today, April 7, Target is again the one to watch with a drop expected either today or tomorrow. The time is expected to be between 7-8 AM ET, with the consistently accurate saying that most stores have around 20-30 PS5 disc consoles.
For those who missed it in yesterdays update, its once again possible to sign up for a chance to buy a PS5 directly from the PlayStation Store. Get signed up and then ready yourselves for emails. Once the message comes in, youll want to act quickly as stock is limited.

Best Buy Ps5 Restocks Remain Hardest To Get
Some people have an easy time with Best Buy when attempting to buy a PS5, getting the console in one attempt. And other customers weve interviewed have told us its impossible in their area. This may be due to the fact that bots are scooping up the Sony PlayStation 5 consoles before real people can get it.
Best Buy and Walmart remain prone to this, among the top retailers in the US, with Amazon also falling victim to bots. Since Best Buy requires consoles to be picked up in stores, it may be that resellers controlling the software-controlled bots are taking all of the consoles.
Again, while Best Buy has PS5 for sale online only, it requires the console to be picked up in person. So if youre particular location is being emptied out by resellers, this may explain why you have a harder time with Best Buy while someone in another location can checkout in one attempt.
