After 8 highly successful years, the sun has finally set on the PlayStation 4. On 12 November 2020, Sony launched its next-generation video game console, the PlayStation 5 . Featuring vastly improved graphics with almost no load times, a brand new controller and a bevy of fresh first-party IP, it’s poised to profoundly change the gaming landscape in the years to come. Crucially, it’s also backwards-compatible with most PlayStation 4 software, which means the majority of your old games will work on the new system.
Unfortunately, stock is currently extremely limited. Most of the first manufacturing wave was snapped up by pre-ordering customers and the console has been very difficult to get hold of ever since.
Confirmed retailers that will be selling the PS5 when stock becomes available again include eBay, EB Games, , The Gamesmen, Target, Harvey Norman, Big W and Vodafone .

Ps5 Restock: Check Stock At Walmart Gamestop Best Buy And More
PS5 restocks are starting to pick back up.
While it’s too early to say for sure, signs are pointing to PS5 stock stabilizing in the coming weeks and months. For the first time since launch, PS5 restocks are no longer selling out in minutes. Best Buy hosted a restock last week that remained available for two hours. And the console went in and out of stock all last week at PlayStation Direct. We’ve yet to see a PS5 restock this week, but it’s still early.
You’re still unlikely to find the PS5 on store shelves, and most major retailers are sold out of the PS5, but the situation is starting to mirror what we saw with the Xbox Series X. First, the consoles no longer sell out in minutes, and then they become readily available at at least one major retailer nearly all the time. We are cautiously optimistic that the concept of PS5 restocks may be a thing of the past before long.
For now, we’re continuing to track PS5 restocks across major retailers, so if you’re still looking for one, we’ll update this post every time we see it become available.
In addition to standalone consoles, we’re also tracking restocks of the first official PS5 bundle. The bundle comes with a digital voucher to redeem Horizon Forbidden West on the PlayStation Store. The standard PS5 bundle costs $550, while the PS5 Digital bundle is $450.

Sony Ps5 Setbacks Began With The Pandemic
Sony didn’t announce the PlayStation 5 for months during the first half of 2020 , allegedly delaying the initial reveal several times due to the pandemic. Rumors of a February launch event gave way to a supposedly scheduled March unveiling, turned into a April reveal that never was. We didn’t even see what it looked like until June.
Manufacturing and shipping timelines were stretched, and demand has outstripped supply it’s been seven years since a major Sony console launch. So Covid-19 has a lot to do with why you can’t find PS5 in stock today. Things didn’t get off to a running start for a product everyone wanted so badly.
But it’s not the only reason.

It may be more profitable to buy Bitcoin during its dips than actually mine it at this point. However, this hasn’t stopped people from buying up GPUs in an effort to one day profit from mining Bitcoin, Etherium, and other decentralized, open-source blockchain currienies once their electricity bills are covered.
There’s such a strong demand for graphics cards that we can’t find the Nvidia 3080 in stock for more than a few seconds at a time once a week. AMD GPUs are going through the same crisis. Good luck finding something like the AMD 6800 XT in stock.

Ps5 Review: Game Lineup
The PS5s launch lineup is off to a solid start. The console’s big marquee launch game is Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a gorgeous and fun follow up to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man complete with ray-traced graphics and an optional 60 fps performance mode.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a simple but charming 3D platformer with lots of character customization, but Astro’s Playroom, the free pack-in game that shows off the DualSense controller, might be even better. Not since 2007’s Nintendo Wii has a console launched with a notable game included out of the gate, and Sony’s new platformer is oozing with fun collectibles and easter eggs for hardcore PlayStation fans.
If mature action’s more your thing, Godfall is a fun and beautiful action-RPG that feels like a marriage of the weighty combat of God of War 2018 and the deep loot system of Destiny. Want something more stylish? Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is an enhanced version of the stellar 2019 slash-em-up complete with both ray-tracing and 120 fps performance modes.
One of the PS5s biggest true launch exclusives is Demons Souls, a visually stunning remake of the beloved 2009 action/RPG of the same name. We’ve just started testing out Bluepoint’s new take on the cult favorite, so stay tuned for more impressions.
The problem is, you don’t need a PS5 to play many of these games. Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are also available on PS4, as are many of the big third-party games that arrived at launch.
Playstation 5 Price: Cheaper Digital Edition
There are two versions of the PlayStation 5: one with a disc drive and one without. It’s a strategy could well prove crucial for the next console generation it lets Sony keep at least one model more affordable while still offering a more fully-featured PS5.
Unlike the approach taken by Microsoft with the Xbox Series X and Series S, the full-fat, disc-playing PlayStation 5 and the more affordable, disc-less PlayStation 5 Digital Edition enjoy performance parity, with the optical drive the only difference between the two machines.
We predicted that the PS5 Digital Edition would dip below the magic £400 barrier, while the version with the disc drive might be more like £499 , and Sony has actually trumped our expectations in the UK at least.
Last year, the PS5 shed around 300g in weight. The updated version, which boasts a lighter heatsink, is available now in most parts of the world. If you want to check which version you have, the original PS5 serial model numbers are: CF1016A and CFI-1015B . The new PS5 numbers are: CFI-1116A and CFI-1100B .
In early 2022, rumours of a PS5 Pro began circulating online. A reliable video report by gaming analyst RedGamingTechsuggests that Sony is readying a more powerful version of the PS5 for a late 2023 or early-to-mid 2024 release. Let’s hope we can actually buy it.

Amazon has introduced a new invite-only system for its PS5 restock – one that should finally give you a better chance to buy the PS5 from the mega-retailer if all of your previous attempts have ended in failure. Better still, you don’t need to be an member to register your details, either.
All you need to do to sign up is . Log in to your account and then you will see the option to request an invitation where the add to cart button is usually found.
Hit that and Amazon will send you an email with an exclusive link to buy the PS5 the next time the console is in stock. Be aware, though, that the link is only active for 72 hours and does not guarantee you a console as they cannot fulfill all requests. We fully expect the PS5 will sell out very early in that time window so you need to move fast when you get the alert. At least it’s much better than the randomly timed free-for-alls that Amazon usually holds for the PS5 every couple of months.

After a busy end to July for PS5 restocks we enter a new month with a quiet period for those in the US. However, a restock is rumoured at Walmart this month, according to The Shortcut. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for where to buy a PS5 in the UK, the console is available at multiple retailers right now.
The PS5 has been in stock in the UK for a long time now following a major lack of consoles in the middle of June. It’s still a lot slower in the US, but recent restocks showed it’s now a lot easier to buy a console as it was available for over a day at the PlayStation Direct store. It’s a good sign that we’re past the days when it was practically impossible to buy the console for months on end.
We’ve followed PS5 restocks since the console launched back in November 2020, giving us a solid idea of where to buy a PS5 at any time. The PS5 was released in North America, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand on November 12, 2020. It came two days after the release of Microsofts new-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. For the rest of the world, the console became available one week later on November 19.
In terms of the PS5s price, it costs $499.99 / £449.99 / AU$749.95 for the standard version of the console with a 4K Blu-ray disc drive. However, if thats more than you want to spend, theres also the PS5 Digital Edition, which is exactly the same apart from the fact it removes the disc drive entirely. It costs $399.99 / £359.99 / AU$599.95, which is a saving of $100 / £90 / AU$150 over the standard model.
The PS5 is more expensive than the launch price of the PS4, PS4 Slim, and PS4 Pro, which both came in at $399.99, but they arrived seven and four years ago respectively now, and you’re getting a generational leap in hardware here for $100 more. The PS5 is still expensive, don’t get us wrong, but the jump in price does feel warranted for what youre getting.

A Big Console And An Intriguing Controller
When it comes to the design of the console itself, the most obvious thing is its scale. Its not just big, its historically big, one of the largest video game consoles ever built. It measures in at 390mm tall, 260mm deep, and 104mm wide. Its big enough that itll probably require some careful planning to fit it into your existing entertainment setup.
Its not just the size, though. Whereas many gadgets are now designed to fit seamlessly into our homes, the PS5 goes in the opposite direction. It is not shy. Sony doesnt want you to tuck this away in an entertainment cabinet where no one can see it. The PS5 has what I think of as a robotic clam look, with two huge white panels surrounding a shiny black interior. One panel features a nice etched PlayStation logo, and the console comes in two varieties with slightly different designs: the $499.99 base model features a disc drive that juts out of the right side, giving it an asymmetrical look, and the $399.99 digital edition has no drive and is more uniform as a result. Either way, the PS5 is an intimidating machine and certainly an acquired taste.
