The PlayStation Classic is 45% smaller than the PlayStation One and as such, the disc drive is not a functioning drive and is too small to hold CDs and discs. This means that any original PlayStation games that you might still have stored in the attic will not be compatible with the PlayStation Classic.
Similarly, the console does not come with any online connectivity features whatsoever, meaning that there is simply no way to download games or add games from the PlayStation store to your console. La compre de salida y en estos 8 anios, no me ha dado ni un solo problema. En lo que importa, que son los juegos, tiene un catalogo impresionante. Unos exclusivos que ya por si solos justifican de sobra su compra y por supuesto, los “third parties” mas importantes . Ademas, las PSVR funcionan perfectamente con este modelo , convirtiendose en una puerta de entrada mas asequible para la VR de lo que seria en PC. Las unicas criticas que le puedo hacer son que es un poco ruidosa, especialmente si la tienes muy cerca o juegas sin auriculares, y que la calidad de las gomas de los mandos es bastante baja, pero eso se soluciona facil comprando repuestos muy baratos o unos grips que los cubran. Es cierto que la PS5 es retrocompatible, y si dispones del dinero, tal vez sea una mejor compra, pero si no quieres o no puedes gastar tanto, y es tu primera consola, es imposible que te defraude.

Visually, the PlayStation Classic is simply a miniaturised version of the original and is 45% smaller, but that aside, the two are almost identical.
The console comes packaged with two wired controllers much like the original, as well as the classic three buttons on top Power, Open and Reset.
The Power button allows you turn the console on and off, whilst the Open button allows you to switch virtual discs in multi-disc games. Similarly, Reset takes you back to the original game selection menu and creates a resume marker for the next time that you want to go back to a particular game.
The classic start up screen that Im sure you all remember is the same, whilst youll also be greeted with the familiar PlayStation bootup sound.

The only way that youll be able to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games on PS5 is through Sonys PlayStation Now streaming service. While hardly a perfect solution, PlayStation Now on PS5 will still allow players a glimpse into the back catalog of titles from the older PlayStation consoles.

Sony’s next PlayStation 5 won’t be an upgraded pro model or the oft-rumored slim revision. The new PS5 will have the exact same specs as the original 2020, 2021, and recently released 2022 models but will instead feature a detachable disc drive that connects to the back of the system via an extra USB-C port.
The idea is that gamers will be able to transform their PlayStation consoles via modular form factors–remove the disc drive and the PS5 becomes digital-only, and add it to enable the system to read and play game discs and media. At the same time, there were reports the PS5 digital edition had custom firmware that blocked disc drives.
Sony is believed to also sell the PlayStation 5 disc drive separately so that existing PS5 digital edition owners can play game discs, and Sony can also avoid costly repairs for systems with malfunctioning 4K UHD Blu-ray optical drives. The PS5 currently reads BD-XL discs that contain up to 100GB of data, and Sony has a vested interest in pushing Blu-rays across its growing PS5 install base because they helped create the Blu-ray format.
As for the veracity of this claim, Tom Henderson had recently leaked Sony’s INZONE line of pro-gamer peripherals, which include high-end premium monitors, controllers, and headsets.
Sony has yet to announce the new PlayStation 5 model, but sources tell Henderson that it will release in 2024.

Playstation Classic Review: A Disappointing Dose Of Nostalgia
The PlayStation Classic is a mistake. It’s a quick attempt by Sony to cash in on the micro-console trend, something Nintendo kicked off with the NES and SNES Classic. There’s definitely room to improve upon the idea of a tiny retro console, but Sony simply didn’t. What we’re left with is a machine that has an odd collection of games and a problematic controller and, perhaps most damning of all, betrays the memory of the original PlayStation.
Okay, maybe I’m being too dramatic. Younger gamers who didn’t grow up with the PlayStation might find something to enjoy. It gives them a reason to explore the first generation of 3D titles, even if some are too ugly and awkward to play for very long. And at $100, it’s an easy gift option. But it’s hard not to be disappointed.

While the replica itself is beautiful and care has been taken as to how to interpret the original console’s design into a new mini, once you hit Power and start playing things take a little downturn.
The game selection screen is bare-bones. There are no options or menus to dip into and learn more about the games. There are no graphics options to, for example, emulate CRT displays or sharpen pixels or smooth polygons. This is odd, as even back on the PlayStation 2’s built-in PlayStation emulator you could do some of these tasks.
