Ps5 Review: Features And Controller

The PS5’s DualSense controller looks and feels fantastic in the hand, and has excellent rumble capabilities.

The DualSense controller is, I am happy to report, a mighty fine gamepad. It also easily beats the PS4’s pad, with a slightly rounder, filled out chassis falling into the hands much easier. It feels like a hybrid between the PS4’s controller and the Xbox One Wireless Controller, and that is no bad thing.

The rear of the body is finished with the same micro cross, circle, square, triangle pattern that appear on the inside console wings, which looks class and also provides that slightly rough texture that the best pads have to stop things getting slippery when the in-game heat is on.

The DualSense has a USB Type-C connection for charging and wired connections.

One of the biggest takeaway features I noticed with the DualSense, too, was its in-depth and complex haptic feedback .

This is far from just a one-note rumble and depending on what you are doing, in-game feedback to your hands provides varying degrees of sensation. It’s one of those features that is so well implemented that it just blends seamlessly into each gaming session, enhancing the experience.

The game just loaded and ran perfectly on PS5

I would confidently say that this haptic feedback tech is streets ahead of the Xbox Wireless Controller’s and Sony should be commended for it.

Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece. Play it now.

Ps5 Games With 120 Fps Support: Why Should I Want 120 Fps

Must Have PS5 Games This Holiday Season TUC

Playing a game at 120 FPS provides a smoother experience than at 30 FPS or even 60 FPS. Input latency is reduced, meaning your character and the world around you will react faster, while you might even see higher-quality animation detail that simply isn’t visible at lower framerates. You can see an example of how this works below with Digital Foundry examining the PC version of Death Stranding, with animations and world detail looking cleaner and more detailed the higher the framerate is pushed:

This simply wasn’t possible in prior console gaming generations because playing a game at 120 FPS requires an immense amount of CPU power. Fortunately, the latest consoles opted to vastly improve the CPU components compared to what was available in the PS4 and Xbox One, so in theory, we’ll continue to see some games offer 120 FPS as time goes on, at least as an optional mode.

Right now, one of the games confirmed to feature 120 FPS support is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is one of the overall best PS5 games. Another standout title is Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, a game where the action is cleaner than before, allowing you to juggle enemies with perfect combos.

How To Make Sure Your Game Is Upgraded

The best way to check that you are playing the upgraded version of your game is by using the PlayStation Network. Log on and head to the PS Store. From here, check out your library of purchased games. If there is a PS5 upgrade available you should see a notification on it.

It should be noted if your version requires a disc then you will need the disc inserted into your PS5 to commence the upgrade. If you are having any trouble, there is a handy video guide here.

The Binding Of Isaac: Repentance

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance is a 2D indie roguelike video game developed and published by American studio Nicalis in 2021.

The game is the last expansion of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, a remake of The Binding of Isaac. Upon launch, it enjoyed a good reception from the gaming world, quickly earning a reputation as one of the best roguelikes for PS5.

The protagonist Isaac and his Christian fanatic mother live together in a small house. Isaac loves to play with his toys and draw pictures, while his mother is fond of watching Christian broadcasts on TV.

One faithful day, Isaacs mother hears a voice that claims her son needs to be cleansed of his sins. Believing this strange voice, she seizes all of Isaacs possessions and locks him in his room.

The voice further convinces her to offer up her son for sacrifice, causing Isaac to escape through a trap door in his room. Isaac will face monsters through this door, explore dungeons, and collect items.

The gameplay and plot are similar to Rebirth, the only difference being the endings. Repentance includes additions like 100 enemies, two new endings, 20 new characters, 130 items, and 25 bosses.

The game offers a lot of new content that makes it feel like a sequel. It is an excellent game for both veterans and newcomers alike.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

The Chant – Teaser Trailer | PS5 Games

The Ratchet & Clank series is synonymous with the PlayStation brand and, even after nearly 20 years of games, Rift Apart stands as one of the best entries in the series.

Rift Apart leans heavily into the series’ tested formula of action platforming with a hefty dose of over-the-top weaponry, but the latest game features one of the strongest stories the franchise has seen yet, giving longtime fans and newcomers alike a compelling plot to follow.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an excellent showpiece for what the PS5 can do, with levels shaped around the console’s superfast harddrive, and it’s also made us more excited about the future of the series.

What Is Ps Plus

PlayStation Plus is a monthly subscription service that enables online, multiplayer play for PS4 and PS5 games.

It is required to play the vast majority of games online – only some free-to-play titles are exempt.

It started many years ago, with the service launching for PlayStation 3 initially. It was also available for PS Vita users, but both consoles have since been discontinued and PS Plus is no longer active on either.

As well as online play, it includes discounts, access to early trials of games, and a few other benefits. You can read about them below.

There Are Already Lots Of Ps5 Games To Look Forward To

While the list of brand-new PS5 games available on launch day is pretty short, there are a number of titles that should quickly round out the PS5s lineup into 2021.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and GranTurismo 7 are both set to launch in the first half of 2021. The aforementioned Horizon Forbidden West is expected in the second half of 2021. And Sony has announced a sequel to 2018s God of War for 2021, too.

There are a lot of big third-party titles to look forward to in the PS5s life span as well, including Final Fantasy XVI, which will launch first on PS5 Resident Evil Village, the eighth mainline game in the popular horror series thats scheduled for 2021 Hogwarts Legacy, an open-world game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter and the spooky-looking Five Nights at Freddys: Security Breach.

If you want to get a picture of the early lineup for the PS5, weve compiled an extensive list of games you can look forward to playing at launch and beyond. And if youre looking for recommendations of what to actually play on your new console right now, weve got a guide for that, too.

What Do I Need To Play Ps5 Games At 120 Fps

To play a compatible game at 120 FPS, you’ll need to hook your PS5 up to a TV capable of displaying a 120hz signal. While some 4K TVs support a 120hz signal, only a few of the best TVs for PS5 support both 4K and 120hz at the same time. This also requires an HDMI 2.1 cable, which is fortunately included with your PS5.

If you play a game at 120 FPS with a higher resolution than your TV is capable of displaying, the resolution will be downscaled to whatever resolution it can handle, so just bear that in mind if you don’t spring for a high-end model yet. Here are some great picks for a TV to play at 120 FPS on your PS5:

Remnant: From The Ashes

This Graphic Perfectly Sums Up The First Year Of PS5 Games

Remnant: From the Ashes is another one of those games that did get good reviews, but is not talked about nearly enough considering how good it is.

It is a third-person shooter with an excellent looting system one of the best looting games for PS5, in fact.

The game was initially developed by Gunfire Games and published by Perfect World Entertainment in 2019, but a PS5 version arrived in 2021 that allowed it to run at 4K/30FPS or 1080p/60FPS.

Imagine a soulslike with shooter elements where you can wield two gun weapons at the same time, and you have Remnant.

The melee combat is reminiscent of Souls games, but unlike most of those games, this one has a robust multiplayer system that allows players to team up and play through the story together.

Theres a decent amount of content too. If youre only bothered with the main objectives, then itll take an average of 13 hours to complete the game.

However, youd need to invest about four times that number to achieve full completion.

If youre looking to dig into an underrated game with a multiplayer system and a lot to offer in terms of content, then heres a solid option.

Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is at the top of our best PS5 games for two reasons. Not only is it the best Ratchet and Clank adventure yet, with our heroic duo taking us on an utterly memorable journey with some new friends, but it is also a powerful demonstration of what the PS5 can do. Doctor Nefarious has been at it again, stealing the Dimensionator and ripping holes between dimensions. Ratchet and Clank are split up, flung across the universe through time and space, and enlist the help of fellow Lombax, Rivet, to help stitch the universe back together. Flying through time rifts is utterly seamless, with not a loading screen in sight, and the haptic feedback on the DualSense, along with those adaptive triggers, are used brilliantly. Ratchet and Clank has never looked, played, or been better.

Best Ps Plus Extra Games

The Extra tier is where you can download and play a massive library of both PS4 and PS5 titles. These games cycle in and out every month, though you never know how many will be added or removed at a given time. Here are some of the best ones available right now:

Demons Souls

Souls games have never been more popular, and this is a remake of the game that really started it all. Not only is this remake just astoundingly beautiful to look at, but is as mechanically faithful to the original as possible. The only changes are to quality-of-life features, leaving the challenge of besting the levels, and bosses, all on your shoulders. Its a little clunky in some ways, but holds up remarkably well for a game over a decade old thanks to the new coat of paint.

Bloodborne

Sticking on the Souls train, we have the other PlayStation exclusive from developer FromSoftware, the fan favorite that they refuse to update in any way: Bloodborne. This title is much more focused on aggression than the others in the series, as well as boasting a unique and detailed world that just oozes with mysteries and intrigue. You usually cant tell where a Souls games story is going anyway, but this game goes places youd still never guess.

Forspoken May 24 2022

It was previously called Project Athia, but finally has an official name, Forspoken. The title is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 5, and a release date is yet to be announced, though Square Enix is aiming to launch it in spring 2022. Its an action RPG with some fantasy elements and a heavy emphasis on fast, fluid traversal.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human February 4 2022

Top 20 NEW PS4 & PS5 Games of 2022 [4K]

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a narrative-driven action game that will be coming to PS5. The game builds on the parkour and intense combat of the original game, but with much more focus placed on the world and how it changes based on players actions. There are factions and several moving parts to keep track of, making for a more engrossing and immersive open-world zombie game than Techland has made before. The entire game is also playable in four-player cooperative mode, and players can join each others worlds to see how they differ from each other. This one has been in the works for ages, but it seems like Techland will finally be ready for release this February.
