When Does Crash Bandicoot Come Out For Ps4

Don't Miss

Who Is Developing Crash Bandicoot : It’s About Time

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy – PlayStation Experience 2016: The Come Back Trailer | PS4

While Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy was developed by Vicarious Visions, that studio is not making Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time as it is working on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.Instead, Toys For Bob will be handling It’s About Time.

Toys For Bob has a storied history with games like Star Control and Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, but most recently worked on Spyro Reignited Trilogy. This will be the studio’s first Crash Bandicoot game, but considering how faithful the Spyro reboot was, it feels like Crash Bandicoot 4 is in safe hands.

How Does Crash Bandicoot : It’s About Time Play

The gameplay of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time appears very faithful to the series formula reestablished by the N. Sane Trilogy, though the levels get a bit more elaborate. It’s the standard mix of 3D and 2D linear platforming that incorporates some new power-ups allowing Crash and Coco to run on walls, slow down time, and manipulate gravity.

Levels, in general, seem a bit more dynamic than the ones in N. Sane Trilogy with more exciting vehicle segments, chases, and level gimmicks. Even after you beat a level, there will be more to do. Each stage has an “N. Verted” version that changes things up. Some of the styles teased in a PlayStation Blog post include “splattering paint to see your path forward, or keeping up with an old-timey film reel that cranks up gameplay speed just as fast as it puts the picture on the screen.”

During Gamescom Opening Night live, new Flashback tape levels were revealed. These are tough puzzle levels that players can unlock by reaching a video tape collectible in stages without dying. They’re set in the 90s as Cortex is testing Crash and Coco, showing a never before seen part of the Crash Bandicoot timeline.

Transition To Third Party

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex was originally to be designed by Cerny and published by Sony. After a falling-out between Universal and the two entities, developer Traveller’s Tales was forced to alter the game from a free-roaming title to a standard Crash title. Traveller’s Tales had to begin development of the game from scratch and were given only twelve months to complete it. The game received mixed reviews but made the Greatest Hits lineup due to strong sales.

The following year, Universal would have Vicarious Visions release their first Crash Bandicoot game, a handheld exclusive called The Huge Adventure was developed by Vicarious Visions and released to favourable reviews. The game would be noted for being extremely similar to Naughty Dog’s Crash Bandicoot 3. This would warrant a sequel, N-Tranced, which would also be met to similar reception. During this time a subsidy of Traveller’s TalesTraveller’s Tales Oxford Studio were developing a new Crash game for console. This game was to be Crash Nitro Kart but due to unknown circumstances Universal moved development of Crash Nitro Kart over to Vicarious Visions. Traveller’s Tales Oxford Studio then moved on to their next project, Crash Bandicoot Evolution.

Crash Bandicoot 4 Is Heading To Switch Playstation 5 Xbox Series X/s And Pc

Activision Blizzard announced today that Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch on March 12 to celebrate the franchises 25th anniversary. A PC release will follow later this year.

Crash Bandicoot 4 first came out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2. Following the success of 2017s N. Sane Trilogy, which contained remakes of the classic Crash trilogy, this was the first new entry in the series in over a decade. It became one of my favorite games of 2020 thanks to its challenging platforming, creative levels, and superb character animation.

If you already own Crash 4 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, youll get a free upgrade to the respective next-gen console. Youll also be able to transfer your save data. Unless you live in Japan, for whatever reason. No free upgrades for Japan, I guess.

Both next-gen versions will tout 4K and 60 fps, and the PlayStation 5 version will also take advantage of the Dual Sense controllers adaptive triggers. While the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S releases of Crash 4 will cost $60, the game will go for $40 on Switch and PC. Also, that PC version will be available on Battle.net, making it one of the rare non-Blizzard games available on that launcher .

Controls & Level Design

Crash Bandicoot 4: Its About Time controls fantastically well, even better than the N-Sane Trilogys often inconsistent physics and hit-boxes. Crash and Coco move fluently, quickly and precisely with controls that will be familiar to any Crash veteran, yet easy to learn for a newbie. Unlike other titles, Crash/Coco has all of their moves right off the bat, with his trademark spin, slam, slide-jump and double jump all available from the first level of the game. The game even has an optional shadow highlight, which puts a yellow ring underneath Crash. This makes it much easier for newer plays to get accustomed to Crashs jump arc.

Crash 4s great controls all translate to its new playable characters, but to varying degrees of success.

Dingodile and Cortex both control vastly different to Crash and provide a healthy dose of variety to help spice things up. Dingodile is weighty and has a vacuum that he uses to suck up crates, enemies and help him hover over obstacles. Cortex also feels heavier than Crash and has a ray gun that transforms enemies into platforms and a dash move that can quickly move him across the stage. I really enjoyed both of these characters, and I never felt like they were ever over-used. Most of their levels are also optional, too, although the optional levels are akin more to filler rather than fantastic new content.

More on this weeks Crash Banditcoot 4 launch can be found below, including details on the different modes and gameplay:

At launch, there are three unique timelines to explore outside of our Bandicoots main journey.

Two of them have already been revealed: the never-ending failures of Neo Cortex, and the heart-warming story of Dingodiles reformation from a roast-happy villain to a short-order cook and diner owner.

The last, but not least, of this timeline trio involves a familiar face from the first Crash Bandicoot game: Tawna Bandicoot.

This is not the Tawna you remember, but thats easy to say about someone from another dimension. In her universe, Tawna stars as a true hero in her own epic adventure, and she might be the key to helping Crash and Coco save the entire multiverse!

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time – New PS4 Gameplay!

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy releases on June 30th for PS4, Activision announced today via a video trailer, above.

The collection includes remastered versions of the first three Crash games: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

Sony revealed a remaster for the beloved Crash series at E3 2015, but details were hazy until the grand reveal at a PlayStation Experience Keynote last December.

Developer Vicarious Visions is handling updating these colorful classics, and theyve reportedly put a lot into it. In a blog post that followed the N. Sane Trilogy announcement, devs called this collection a remaster plus.

Enhanced for 4K and the PS4 Pro, these games will have shiny new graphics, cinematics, artwork, and sound effects, much like you would expect from a remaster. The original soundtrack has also been completely revamped. The plus comes with some polished and brand new gameplay features.

You can look forward to a unified checkpointing and save system, full analog stick support, collectible relics, and improved bonus levels and time trials.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy launches exclusively on PS4 June 30th for $39.99.

What We Know About The New Crash Bandicoot Game

In the video above , Corden claims that the new Crash Bandicoot will be a multiplayer four-player brawler of sorts, leading to speculations of a new Crash Bash. It could also be the rumored Wumpa League game.

I think we could see another Crash Bandicoot, Corden said . Its not just going to be a new Crash Bandicoot, its going to be a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot. Its like a four-player brawler almost, but Crash oriented.

This is great news for fans who were left disappointed after news emerged last April that virtually every Activision developer including Toys for Bob had transitioned into a Call of Duty support studio. The team, which successfully resurrected the Crash Bandicoot franchise, was tasked with working on Warzone. However, job listings discovered last December suggested that Toys for Bob was also working on projects that werent Call of Duty. Given Cordens track record, we have reason to believe this rumor of a new Crash Bandicoot has some truth to it.

As far as the question of whether a new Crash Bandicoot will come to PlayStation platforms or not is concerned, considering development already seems to be underway prior to the closure of Microsoft Activsision deal, the game is likely going to be multiplatform, albeit with some benefits for Xbox owners like a Game Pass day-one launch.

In other news, troubled PS5 exclusive Abandoned reportedly doesnt exist and probably never will, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake has been delayed yet again.

The Crash Bandicoot 4 trailer has finally been unleashed by Activision, which confirms the games PS4 release date as October 2.

The trailer showcases the slightly redesigned look of Crash and gives us a bunch of footage of the game running in real-time and someone playing. We get to see a variety of locations from jungles to factories, new playable characters, and even a look at some boss fights and the new mask mechanic.

A Solid Port But Nothing To Spin Home About

Crash Bandicoot 4 on PS5 is just as good as it was on PS4, even enhanced a little thanks to the use of the DualSense controller and Activity Cards. But, the real pull here is the 4K 60 FPS gameplay, which is by far the strongest aspect of this remaster.

Despite all these upgrades, they never really feel like they truly are enhancing the experience. So, ultimately, Crash Bandicoot 4 on PS5 is really just the same game as you will find on PS4, with a few small enhancements here and there. Those still hunting for collectibles and own a PS5 should make the upgrade, but the platformer definitely isnt radically different on Sonys new console.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a 2020 platform game developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision. It was originally released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with releases for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows following in 2021. The game is the eighth main installment in the Crash Bandicoot series and a retcon of the games that originally followed Crash Bandicoot: Warped. The game’s story follows Crash Bandicoot and his sister Coco as they recover the all-powerful Quantum Masks in a bid to prevent Doctor Neo Cortex and Doctor Nefarious Tropy from taking over the multiverse. They are indirectly aided by their former enemy Dingodile and an adventuring alternate-dimension counterpart of Crash’s old girlfriend Tawna.

What Is The Story Of Crash Bandicoot : It’s About Time

The game’s story directly follows up Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Crash and Coco have to stop Neo Cortex after he starts messing with the fabric of the multiverse. Their adventure takes them the various unique worlds and universes as they try to collect four Quantum Masks that will give them new power and help restore balance to the multiverse.

Overall, the story appears to be more lighthearted than some of Crash’s previous outings and basically just gives Crash an excuse to visit exciting new worlds and levels. It does make every game from Wrath of Cortex onwards not canon though.

In a blog post on the Activision website, it was also confirmed that players who already own Crash Bandicoot 4 on PS4 or Xbox One can also upgrade for free to the PS5 or Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S versions respectively . Great news if you fancy taking on that absolute beast of a level towards the end of the game in 4K.Speaking of that higher resolution, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Crash Bandicoot 4 will support native 4K at 60FPS, while the Xbox Series S version will support upscaled 4K. PC players can expect the same resolution as well, with uncapped framerates when Crash heads to the Battle.net launcher later in the year.
